Chapter 104 Happy New Year

When Su Er and her friends arrived, many people were already setting off fireworks. The dazzling fireworks burst before their eyes, and the booming sounds in their ears were full of people's anticipation for the new year.

Xi Wangshu received a phone call midway through, and shortly after, Chen Yiping also arrived.

Xi Wangshu clearly didn't like him much. She glanced at him and said indifferently, "What are you doing here?"

"Hello, Brother Yiping." Su Er spoke up at the right time, breaking the deadlock. "Lexi, call him Brother Yiping."

Zhao Lexi fiddled with the fireworks in her hand, looked up and greeted Chen Yiping, "Hello, Brother Yiping."

Xi Wangshu snorted, took the fireworks and walked away, not forgetting to turn back and wave, "Leqi, come here, let's set off the fireworks."

Zhao Lexi ran over, still a little confused, and said, "Oh, okay."

Chen Yiping showed no sign of discouragement at being rejected by Xi Wangshu; his gentle demeanor remained unchanged. He walked over to them and squatted down, saying, "Let me order for you."

"No need." Xi Wangshu turned away from facing him, then turned back and called to her, "Xiao Er, come here quickly!"

"Okay! Coming right away!" Su Er held the phone to her cheek, waved to her, walked to the side to answer the call, and raised her voice a little, "Hello."

Jiang Siyan asked, "Outside?"

"Yeah, I just finished eating and went out to set off fireworks." She paused. "What about you?"

Jiang Siyan glanced at the bustling room and said in a flat tone, "They're still eating."

Su Er originally wanted to chat with him about what they had eaten that night, but then the sound of firecrackers rang out, accompanied by cheers from the crowd. A bright yellow flame shot into the dark blue sky and burst into a dazzling display of fireworks with a "bang".

Su Er looked up, and the pent-up frustration in her chest faded away. Her eyebrows curved into a beautiful arc, and her voice was filled with undisguised joy as she conveyed her happiness to him, "Happy New Year, Jiang Siyan."

With a slightly excited voice, Jiang Siyan could almost picture her smiling face, and his tone softened as he spoke, "Happy New Year, Er'er."

Amidst the bustling crowd, Su Er heard his tender, low laughter.

Su Er suddenly realized that this was the first New Year they had spent together.

She called out to him, "Jiang Siyan."

"Hmm?" Jiang Siyan responded softly.

Without the slightest hesitation, Su Er told him directly, "I miss you so much."

He asked in a flippant manner, "How much do you want to?"

Su Er didn't answer him. Her eyes reflected the rising fireworks, and she suddenly had an idea. "Jiang Siyan, let's celebrate the New Year together next year."

She hoped that in such moments, when joy welled up in her heart, she could lie carefree in his arms, listening to the strong beating of his heart, and watching the lights of thousands of homes with him.

She hoped that every time she looked up, she would receive his lowered gaze, a soft laugh, and a kiss.

Jiang Siyan was silent for a moment, then replied affectionately, "Okay, we'll listen to our Er'er."

Before they could exchange more than a few words, Su Er heard a urging voice coming from his side amidst the noise, "Si Yan, what are you doing over there? Everyone's waiting for you, hurry up and come over."

Jiang Siyan replied perfunctorily, "I'm here."

Afraid of disturbing him, Su Er said goodbye to Jiang Siyan and happily ran to Xi Wangshu's side, taking an unlit sparkler and bringing it close to her.

Chen Yiping was lighting a large firework in front, while Zhao Lexi was video chatting with her classmates on her phone.

As Xi Wangshu lit the fireworks for her, she raised an eyebrow at her and asked knowingly, "Who were you talking to on the phone just now?"

Su Er rolled her eyes at her and said, "You know he's my boyfriend."

"Still that same one?" Xi Wangshu whispered in her ear.

Su Er nudged her with her elbow, "Of course, what are you thinking?"

Xi Wangshu scoffed, then nodded thoughtfully and said, "That's fine too."

Su Er paused, her wrist still holding the firework, and after a moment's thought, she mustered her courage and asked, "Shu Shu, don't you want to persuade me?"

As before, I advised her not to be tempted.

Su Er knew from the moment they broke up that she had lost control of the relationship.

She couldn't bring herself to say goodbye so easily; she couldn't help but think about him, and the moment Jiang Siyan appeared in front of her, she wanted to rush into his arms.

Her only lucidity was that she still knew this relationship, like a dazzling firework, was ephemeral and destined to end without a trace.

"What should I advise you to do?" Xi Wangshu laughed and asked her in return, "Should I advise you not to be with him, or should I advise you not to fall in love?"

As the sounds reached her ears, a sense of powerlessness surged through Su Er's heart once again, and she clenched her fists involuntarily. Even the exploding fireworks in the sky seemed unable to dispel her frustration.

But the next second, her shoulder tightened as Xi Wangshu hooked her arm around it, her tone light, "But Xiao Er, I have faith in you."

"What?" Su Er looked at her blankly.

A gentle breeze brushed against her cheek, and her voice, sometimes near, sometimes far, carried an unwavering conviction: "You have the capacity to love wholeheartedly, and the wisdom to withdraw in time. You know clearly in your heart which is more important."

Su Er's eyes gradually reddened, perhaps from the wind, or perhaps from her words.

At this moment when even she herself was uncertain, someone beside her told her that she had the right to love bravely, and the ability to love herself.

Xi Wangshu nudged her shoulder, breaking the overly tender moment, and asked playfully, "Isn't that right?"

Su Er let out a long sigh of relief and kept rubbing against her shoulder, "Shu Shu, I love you so much."

Xi Wangshu quickly pressed his palm against her forehead and said with great disgust, "Oh, aren't you being cheesy?"

Su Er didn't care about any of that and suddenly kissed her on the cheek.

"Fairy wand! Don't worry about your fireworks!" Xi Wangshu screamed, afraid that the sparks would hurt them.

Having witnessed everything, Zhao Lexi ran over from the side and insisted on squeezing into Su Er's arms. "Sister, give me a kiss too. I'll record it. My classmates will definitely be drooling with envy."

As she spoke, Zhao Lexi raised her phone, and Su Er chuckled and tried to run to the side.

Taking advantage of the situation, Xi Wangshu snatched the fairy wand from her hand and escaped the trouble. He then stood aside, gloating and taking pictures with his phone. "Le Xi, that's right, let your sister experience this kind of cheesy stuff too."

Just as they were getting into a fuss, Chen Yiping lit the fuse, jogged over to them, pointed to the sky, and gestured for them to look up.

Several people looked up at the sky in unison. After a moment of silence, the firelight burst forth with twinkling stars, a dreamlike and magnificent spectacle.

That was probably the most beautiful moment of the night.

Su Er thought it was still worth it, waiting for night to fall and feeling the cold wind on her face.

Everything, at least the expectations beforehand, and the happiness felt because of the beauty of this moment, are real.
