Chapter 32 Am I really that shameful?

Su Er couldn't stand the faint tickling sensation, so she shrank her shoulders, but didn't push him away. She glared at him sideways and said, "Why are you scaring me?"

Her soft, half-angry Wu dialect exuded a charming and delicate beauty, like the shimmering spring sunshine.

Jiang Siyan's heart stirred at the sight. He pinched her shoulder and teased her with a laugh, "You're such a timid person."

Su Erke wasn't swayed by him and argued back clearly, "You're the one who suddenly appeared and now you're blaming me for being timid."

Her voice was loud, but her pouting lips made her look like she had suffered a great injustice, completely different from the timid appearance she had put on before when she kept people at arm's length.

That look melted away the frost of defensiveness, revealing the true nature of pride.

She was a delicate and difficult flower to coax, but Jiang Siyan appreciated it very much.

Jiang Siyan has been arrogant since childhood. He has never bowed his head when faced with the stick that his respected leader in the family wields to reprimand him, let alone listen to him say a few soft words in a humble tone.

But now, he seems to have mastered the art of coaxing people without any instruction.

Jiang Siyan put his arm around Su Er and smiled gently: "I apologize to you. From now on, whenever I see you, even if we are ten miles apart, I will wave to you first, so as not to startle our Er'er."

Su Er couldn't help but chuckle at his words, but her expression quickly returned to its indifferent state, her raised neck resembling that of a pampered cat. "Oh, thank you for your understanding, Mr. Jiang."

This time, Mr. Jiang's words were different from before; they sounded more like a whispered conversation between lovers, warming the heart of the listener.

The two walked side by side along the red brick road.

Su Er suddenly remembered something, looked around, and asked curiously, "Didn't you drive here?"

"I didn't say I wanted to go for a walk, so I had the driver park outside."

Su Er looked at him with clear eyes, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "I said I was going for a walk, I didn't expect to run into you, Mr. Jiang. We're quite destined to meet."

Jiang Siyan could easily tell the teasing in her tone, and said calmly, "I specially canceled my dinner appointment to wait for you, and it's fate that's to blame."

Su Er smiled, as if she were extremely regretful, "Then what can we do? I've troubled you to make this special trip. My family told me to be back at 9:30."

The little girl was testing his limits, taking advantage of his favored status.

Jiang Siyan pinched the soft flesh of her waist, both amused and annoyed. "What should I do? I can't bear to do it either. Should I go upstairs and talk to my parents-in-law?"

Su Er was like a frightened bird, and made as if to push him away, but her good upbringing prevented her from saying anything harsh. Her face flushed red as she glared at him: "What nonsense are you talking about!"

Seeing that she was really angry, Jiang Siyan was about to pull her over and soothe her.

A car light flashed behind him, and the next second, the little girl suddenly jumped into his arms.

She had just taken a shower, her hair still slightly damp, and the delicate scent of roses wafted into his nostrils. Her breath easily penetrated his thin shirt, warming the skin on his chest.

Jiang Siyan swallowed hard, gently stroking her hair as he asked in a hoarse voice, "What's wrong?"

Su Er covered her face, not daring to look up, and asked him, "Did that electric scooter just drive by?"

"Um."

Su Er loosened her grip on his waist, leaned her head against his chest, and breathed a sigh of relief.

Jiang Siyan: "Do you know them?"

She looked up at him and said, "My parents' colleague."

He couldn't bring himself to do it; it was such a novel experience.

Jiang Siyan looked down at her, pinched her soft cheek, and asked flirtatiously, "Am I really that shameful?"

Su Er felt that he was making trouble out of nothing. If she really took him home to meet her parents, they would probably think she was being presumptuous and making a fuss.

Ultimately, it's just something to be taken as flirtatious talk and laughed off.

Su Er smiled weakly at him, "No, then I..."

The sudden ringing of her cell phone interrupted her carefully prepared excuse.

Su Er straightened up and spoke obediently to the person on the other end of the phone: "Hello, Mom, I know, I'm on my way home."

Su Er hung up the phone and looked at him apologetically, "I have to go back now."

From a purely financial standpoint, it's really not worth turning down a dinner invitation for just a few minutes.

But it can also be seen as a way to make up for the youthful spirit he never had during his student days.

Jiang Siyan couldn't bear to blame her after all, and gently stroked the still-present finger mark on her cheek with his fingertip. "Send me a message when you get home, don't take it lightly."

Su Er hummed in agreement, "Okay."

Jiang Siyan released her, patted her lower back gently, like a considerate and gentle lover, and said, "Alright, go back now, don't keep your mother-in-law waiting."

Su Er wrinkled her nose, pushed him away, and headed home.

But she hadn't taken more than two steps when she jogged back.

Jiang Siyan caught her and asked, "What's wrong?"

Su Er took off her suit jacket and handed it to him, "Here, the jacket. I never got around to returning it before."

Jiang Siyan didn't take it, his eyes gradually turning cold as he chuckled mockingly, "After returning the coat, you're not planning to just part ways with me like this, are you?"

She tilted her head and smiled, her clear eyes like magnolias blooming under the bright moonlight, looking at him with a gentle smile: "Is this something I can decide?"

Su Er knew that her question was quite inappropriate, especially since the two had just been embracing intimately.

Perhaps she should have run back, tugged at his sleeve, and said with reluctance that she couldn't bear to part with him, and become a lovable girl.

However, the difference in their social status meant that she was destined to be unable to be as carefree and unrestrained as Jiang Siyan.
