Chapter 141 I Love You

The sweat from their earlier intimate moments now clung to her body, icy cold. Leaning against the wall, Su Er felt a chill run down her spine, spreading to every part of her body.

Even when you experience a result you were prepared for, your heart still aches.

She braced herself against the wall with her palms, using almost the last bit of strength in her body, to stand up straight.

From the study came Jiang Siyan's cold and indifferent voice again, "Remove the news about Su Er's relationship from the internet, and find out which media outlet broke the news."

Su Er paused, closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and instead of worrying, felt much more at ease.

It would be easier for her if he said goodbye instead of her.

Su Er walked back to the restaurant, and the aunt came to greet her. "Xiao Er, I was just about to call you. The food will get cold if you don't come soon."

Su Er nodded and said, "Thank you, Auntie."

"You don't look well, are you feeling unwell?" The aunt turned to get a cup. "Would you like some water? I'll pour you some."

Su Er shook her head with a forced smile, "No need, Auntie, you go and rest, I can do it myself."

The aunt had a strong sense of propriety, and since Su Er had already said so, she didn't insist any further.

The food on the table was steaming hot, but her stomach, which had been growling with hunger, now had no appetite.

Su Er stood in front of the dining table, on which sat her newly won trophy.

She picked up the trophy and held it to her cheek. The cold touch seemed to bring her more peace of mind than the heartwarming words, calming her previously restless emotions considerably.

Su Er rubbed her eyes and forced a smile. She had won an award; she should celebrate.

Su Er quickly washed her face and, seeing that the red marks at the corners of her eyes had disappeared, went to the wine cabinet to get a bottle of red wine.

The earlier turmoil had indeed affected her. Su Er only realized she hadn't taken the bottle opener after sitting down. As she stood up and was about to turn around, her hem caught on the bottle. She instinctively reached out to steady it, but it was too late.

A very crisp "thump" sound.

A sharp pain shot through my ankle; the wine bottle had shattered, and shards of glass lay scattered across the red wine on the floor. From a distance, the shards on the marble floor gleamed like priceless jewels.

But what is the reality?

It is a weapon that can hurt people, and a mess that leaves the ground in ruins.

The aunt rushed over when she heard the noise and told her, "Xiao Er, don't touch it, I'll clean it up."

Jiang Siyan had obviously heard the crisp sound as well. He walked over and immediately saw Su Er sitting in a chair, lost in thought, her feet soaking in the wine, unaware that she didn't pull them back.

"Were you scared?" Jiang Siyan dragged the chair away from that troublesome place.

Jiang Siyan bent down and picked her up, only to find that her hands were frighteningly cold.

Jiang Siyan carried her, intending to take her back to her room first to change into warm clothes.

"Sir, please be careful too... Ouch, Xiao Er, you've cut your foot." The aunt suddenly covered her mouth and looked at the wound on Su Er's foot, where blood was dripping continuously.

He had been so focused on carrying her away that he only noticed the wound on her foot after hearing what the aunt said. He tightened his grip on Su Er, saying, "How could you be so careless?"

Su Er sniffed. "I'm fine. Put me down. I'll disinfect it in a bit."

"Auntie, thank you for your help here. I'll take her to get disinfected first." Jiang Siyan ignored her attempt to get out of bed at the hospital and carried her back to the bedroom.

Jiang Siyan carried her to the edge of the bed and put her down. He then grabbed the first-aid kit and quickly returned.

Su Er covered her feet with a towel, watching him go in and out, her brows furrowed with worry.

He knelt down in front of her, carefully removed the towel, and took out iodine to disinfect her wound.

Every movement was extremely gentle.

A surge of impulse welled up inside her, and Su Er suddenly wanted to ask him without hesitation, "Jiang Siyan, you do love me a little, don't you?"

After the disinfection was completed, Jiang Siyan looked up and met her gaze, his heart tightening involuntarily. "Does it hurt a lot?"

Su Er shook her head and said with a smile, "There's just one thing."

Jiang Siyan got up, took some tissues, and sat down again with her in his arms, wiping away the tears on her face. "There are some tears. I'll take you to the hospital, okay?"

Did she cry?

Su Er touched her face, belatedly realizing that tears were streaming down her face. She buried her face in his chest and said in a muffled voice, "I don't want to go to the hospital. The wound should have healed by now."

"Why cry on such a happy day?"

Su Er took a while to answer him: "Jiang Siyan, that bottle of wine is very expensive."

As the play neared its end, her acting skills improved even further.

Jiang Siyan thought she was genuinely upset about the broken bottle of wine, so he pinched the back of her neck and patted her, chuckling, "Silly girl."

After treating the wound, most of the spilled alcohol was cleaned up.

The aunt reheated the cold food and put the decanted red wine back on the table.

Jiang Siyan did not return to the study, and peacefully ate the meal with her.

He raised his glass to hers, saying, "Wishing you continued success in your career and everlasting happiness."

Su Er leaned closer, the remaining wine on her lips staining his cheek.

This was the first and probably the last time she openly expressed her love.

She said, "Jiang Siyan, I love you."

After dinner, Su Er went back to her room. Although she hadn't drunk much, the wine seemed particularly intoxicating tonight.

Jiang Siyan was worried that it would be difficult for her to take a bath on her own with her injured foot, so he accompanied her to the bathroom and then to bed.
