Su Boyuan looked at her with great confusion: "You're an actress, is there anything to be proud of? Does it improve yourself or contribute to society?"
Su Er clenched her fists, "I did it for my dream..."
She couldn't continue; no matter what she said, it didn't make sense.
She was too naive. How could she possibly change their minds with just a few words when she hadn't been able to solve a problem that hadn't been resolved in over twenty years?
"Mom, I don't plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam for now, nor do I plan to stay at the university as a teacher." Su Er didn't want to argue anymore, so she simply stated her position, turned around and pressed the doorknob. "Happy New Year, Mom and Dad. If there's nothing else, I'll go back and rest now."
After saying that, she pushed open the door and went back to her own little world.
Su Er didn't turn on the light. Leaning against the window, she lit a cigarette. The closer it got to midnight, the louder the firecrackers around her became.

Su Er didn't respond. As the footsteps faded into the distance, she extinguished the burning sensation that had been near her fingertips.
A burning pain seemed to be on my skin, inconspicuous yet impossible to ignore.
Su Er threw the cigarette butt into the toilet, then rinsed it with cold water. After a few deep breaths, the soreness in her nose subsided a bit, and she took her clothes to take a shower.
When the white, warm mist disappeared into the air and vanished without a trace, Su Er came out of the bathroom and it was already the new year.
She lay on her back in a "spread-eagle" position on the bed, staring at the ceiling, trying to clear her mind completely for a while, but she couldn't feel sleepy at all.
Su Er turned over, unplugged her phone which was charging, and prepared to send out the New Year's greetings she had prepared.
Some people sent messages to groups, while others sent them individually. She edited them all as soon as she had a spare moment in the afternoon.
But when the screen lit up, she squinted and looked at the message from her pinned contact, and suddenly sat up.
As if sensing something, the phone vibrated in her palm the next second.
