The young girl in front of him was completely drunk. Knowing he shouldn't take her words seriously, Jiang Siyan couldn't help but lean down and ask, following her lead, "Do I always kiss you?"
Su Er hooked her arm around his neck and nodded with practiced ease.
Jiang Siyan's brows furrowed involuntarily. Who did she take him for?
He supported the back of her neck, creating a slight distance between them, and gazed into her amber eyes, asking, "Su Er, who am I?"
The heat source that had been pressed against her side moved away, along with the pleasant fragrance of agarwood.
Tonight's dream felt incredibly real, but the people in it were completely disobedient.
Su Er pouted in dissatisfaction and muttered, "Jiang..."
"Jiang what?" Jiang Siyan tightened his grip on her waist.
This name shouldn't be said carelessly.
But what's wrong with her dreaming of teasing him a little?
She tilted her head slightly, her nose brushing lightly against his prominent Adam's apple, and said with a smile, "Jiang Siyan."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Siyan's furrowed brows relaxed, and his eyes gazed upon both the cool moonlight and the delicate little girl.
Su Er liked his unattainable and ethereal quality, like the moon in the clouds.
But why is she still putting on airs in her dream?
Su Er gave him an impatient shove, "Hey, are you going to kiss me or not? If you don't, I'm about to wake up, and we're not even getting to the point..."
"Ring ring—" The cell phone in the cardigan pocket suddenly rang.
Su Er sighed silently; this was probably just an ordinary dream.
She didn't really want to answer, but the somewhat shrill ringtone was really annoying.
Su Er used the person next to her as a human wall to lean on, and slowly took out her phone. "Hello."
Xi Wangshu's anxious voice came out, "Er'er, are you home yet?"
It's only a ten-minute walk from the entrance of the residential area to Su Er's home, but the phone call hasn't come yet, and she was about to tell Chen Yiping to turn back.
"Say something! Chen Yiping, turn around!"
Su Er was startled awake by her stern voice. She nudged her abs with her elbow; they were hard and very real.
Her hand holding the phone trembled slightly. "Shushu, am I dreaming?"
Xi Wangshu breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing her answer, "What kind of dream? Did you sleep in the stairwell?"
Su Er quietly pinched the inside of her forearm.
It really hurts!
Su Er forced herself to calm down and reassured Xi Wangshu in a calm tone, "Don't turn back. I'll just take a walk downstairs and be home soon."
Xi Wangshu was still not convinced, "You really didn't sleep in the hallway?"
"Really, I'm downstairs already. I'm hanging up now." Su Er lied without thinking and hung up the phone without paying attention to what the person on the other end was saying.
The previous sweltering smell of alcohol was swept away, and Su Er felt a refreshing coolness from head to toe for the first time in this season.
The only source of heat was probably the part of my arm that was in contact with my shirt, which made that small patch of skin burn hot.
The person beside her remained silent, their breath gently wafting over her head, seemingly reminding her of the passage of time.
Su Er bit her lower lip lightly, and even without looking up, she could guess his leisurely and smug expression as he watched the show.
Su Er ultimately chose between feigning ignorance and feigning drunkenness.
She reached up and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, revealing a bright smile.
Su Er straightened up without changing her expression, distancing herself from Jiang Siyan. Her eyes showed genuine surprise, and her eyebrows curved slightly. "Hello, Mr. Jiang, what brings you here?"
This is a good question, prompting Jiang Siyan to ponder it deeply.
The plane landed in Nancheng at 8 o'clock.
The short two-hour rest on the plane was not enough to alleviate the fatigue of the period.
He has an inspection tour tomorrow, so he should go home and rest early.
The car was clearly already heading towards the hotel, but when he checked the time, it wasn't even nine o'clock yet.
The little girl might still be out playing wildly; he vaguely remembered the place name Su Er had mentioned.
Instead of returning to the hotel and working on documents until the early hours of the morning, Jiang Siyan suddenly felt a surge of youthful exuberance, a "live for today" mentality.
It was already 9:30 when the car arrived in the neighborhood, half an hour after the scheduled time to return home that afternoon, as told through the receiver.
Jiang Siyan wasn't in a hurry to leave. He stopped the car at the fork in the road, got out, lit a cigarette, and looked at the streaks of light projected onto the road, finding it all quite amusing.
For him, the word "chance encounter" was utterly absurd.
From childhood to adulthood, he learned how to handle affairs and plan... all he pursued was efficiency and results.
Even in a gamble, it's always the side with the upper hand.
From any perspective, tonight's trip is not worth it for him to make this trip for that tiny percentage chance.
The coincidence is that he actually waited for the time it takes to smoke a cigarette.
The moment of distraction was hard to describe.
But for the first time in his life, he was moved by the word "fate".
You could hear her soft, sweet voice bidding farewell to people from afar, hopping and skipping like a little magpie.
Instead of taking the proper main road, they insist on climbing the steps, wobbling and swaying – that's just childish behavior.
After drinking some alcohol, he became incredibly bold.
But she can turn on you so quickly. Just a moment ago she was clinging to his neck wanting him to kiss her, but now she keeps calling him Mr. Jiang, which sounds incredibly awkward.
Jiang Siyan didn't answer her question. Instead, he took the cardigan she was wearing from her arm and draped it over her shoulders, asking, "It's cold outside. Why don't you go sit in the car?"
