Chapter 65 I Can't Afford to Offend

Breakfast was arranged by Su Er with Aunt Cui in advance; a simple coffee and eggs would be fine, which was her usual breakfast during her workday.

Aunt Cui brought her coffee and praised, "Xiao Er, you look really good today."

Su Er said without changing her expression, "I went to bed early last night."

It was at this moment that Jiang Siyan sat down beside her.

Su Er paused, holding her coffee cup. Half of the color in her face came from the embarrassment and anger of being caught peeking.

Jiang Siyan and she both knew the truth, so much so that Su Er felt a deep sense of guilt at this moment, as if she had been caught lying.

But Jiang Siyan pretended to be curious, pinched her face and lifted it up, saying, "Let me see."

Jiang Siyan's gaze lingered on those wide-open eyes, a warning to him not to speak carelessly.

He gently pinched her cheeks a few times, trying to save face for her and not ruin her image as a well-behaved and adorable girl in Aunt Cui's eyes. He said seriously, "Hmm, you look good. It seems you really need to go to bed early and get up early."

Aunt Cui didn't notice the undercurrent between the two. As she went to get Jiang Siyan's breakfast, she agreed, "Yes, you young people shouldn't always stay up late just because you're young. You can tell from your faces."

Su Er took the opportunity to slap his hand away, wrinkled her nose, and snorted at him.

Jiang Siyan didn't let her stay so awkward. Before Su Er could turn her head away, he held her head and kissed her red lips. "Why are you so angry? Who's really at a disadvantage between us?"

Su Er retorted indignantly, "I only glanced at it, how did you lose out! You're so stingy!"

Jiang Siyan was amused by her twisted logic and gave a meaningful "Oh," deliberately misinterpreting her meaning, "Then next time I'll be the one to suffer a loss and let our Er'er touch it, okay?"

Su Er was startled and quickly turned her head to look. Fortunately, Aunt Cui hadn't arrived yet.

She covered his mouth and scolded in a low voice, "Hey! In public, don't you have any shame!"

In her haste, Su Er's tone unconsciously carried a hint of Nancheng accent, her voice soft and delicate, which made Jiang Siyan burst into laughter.

Aunt Cui brought over the noodles, and Su Er quickly put down her hands and buried her head in eating the eggs.

Jiang Siyan deliberately leaned close to her ear to tease her: "You look even better now."

Su Er didn't care whether Aunt Cui was still there or not, and reached out to pinch his waist, "Why are you so annoying!"

Aunt Cui put down the food and, without asking why, spoke up for Su Er, saying, "Yan-ge'er, you too, we're eating, stop teasing Xiao Er."

Aunt Cui is an elder in the Jiang family and has watched Jiang Siyan grow up. Only she could say such a thing.

Su Er nodded vigorously, as if she had found a powerful backer: "That's right, stop teasing me."

Looking at her arrogant expression, Jiang Siyan finally smiled and raised his hand to show weakness, "Alright, alright, you two are united, I can't afford to offend you."

Su Er had won a verbal battle, and her eyes couldn't hide her smugness.

After taking a sip of bitter coffee and eating a bite of plain boiled egg, Su Er's good mood of victory gradually faded, especially when she looked at the steaming bowl of hot soup noodles in front of Jiang Siyan.

Just watching the steam rising in the sunlight made her lick her lips.

But to eat another bowl would be a bit unprofessional...

She watched as Jiang Siyan took a white porcelain bowl, picked up a piece of food with his chopsticks, and pushed it in front of her.

Su Er was taken aback. "What? I don't taste good..."

Jiang Siyan interrupted her and comforted her, "Just one bite, it won't cause swelling, eat with peace of mind."

Su Er was still hesitating, but Jiang Siyan directly held the bowl to her mouth to soothe her anxiety, saying, "Our Er'er is very dedicated. She was forced to eat this. Okay, then."

Su Er couldn't help but chuckle at his coaxing tone, her eyes radiating the warmth of the morning sun, as she obediently opened her mouth and swallowed the mouthful of noodles.

The lips, which had been bitter from the coffee, now felt as if they were covered in honey, and every sip was sweet.

After breakfast, Aunt Cui also brought her a large jar of chilled mung bean soup so she could drink it whenever she had a spare moment.

At 7:30, the car stopped at the entrance of the training base, a little earlier than she had expected.

Su Er kissed Jiang Siyan goodbye, saying, "I'm leaving now, don't miss me too much."

On the way back, Su Er explained to him that it was not good to always make exceptions, otherwise it would be difficult for Sister Qing Shu, and she would always have to be distracted.

Therefore, I will be temporarily out of the public eye for the next two weeks, and will wait obediently for the training camp to end.

Jiang Siyan gently stroked her cheek with his thumb and asked flirtatiously, "Are you really willing to part with it?"

Su Er nodded: "Mm."

"Don't call me crying in the middle of the night."

"I won't." She cupped his face and kissed him a few more times. "It's really time to go in now. I'll miss you."

After saying that, Su Er opened the car door, waved to him, and jogged into the base.

Lin Shuqin had prepared notebooks and pens for her at the door beforehand. At 7:46, Su Er arrived at the conference hall.

This morning's schedule included the entire production team's first script reading.

Each person had a nameplate at their seat. Su Er found her seat, sat down, and bowed to greet the actors next to her.

Sitting to her left is the male actor who has many scenes with her this time, playing the princess's lover before her marriage, a young general.

Ji Lin debuted as a child star. Although he is about the same age as her, he has much more acting experience.

Su Er smiled and greeted him, "Hello, senior, I am Su Er."

Ji Lin smiled at her in a friendly manner, "You're not going to say that you grew up watching my shows, are you? Although we went to different schools, we were in the same year, right? You don't need to be so polite, just call me by my name."
