The call had been going on for quite a while. After sending the address to Jiang Siyan, Su Er quickly returned to her car.
She didn't open the car door, but went around to the driver's side, knocked on the window, and put her face close to it.
Old Chen rolled down the car window and asked, "What's wrong, Xiao Er?"
Su Er lied without batting an eye: "Uncle Chen, you should take Fang Li back first. I have a classmate who is filming nearby. We haven't seen each other in a long time, so she's coming to pick me up for a meal. She'll take me home after the meal."
Old Chen didn't think much of it, but seeing that she was dressed thinly, he was a little worried. "How about I wait here with you for a while? It's still a bit chilly at night."
Su Er glanced at the back seat. She had never liked Fang Li's habit of sleeping as soon as she got in the car more than she did now. She refused with good reason: "No need. It's getting late. Besides, look, it's not comfortable for Li Li to sleep in the car like this. She might get a stiff neck. I'll just take a shawl."
Su Er finally breathed a sigh of relief after the car drove away.
She didn't tell Sister Qin about this, so as not to add to Sister Qin's already sleepless night.
Besides, it's just a matter of one meal; we can talk about it after we finish eating.
Su Er wrapped her shawl tighter around herself. Her phone screen lit up briefly, displaying a message from Jiang Siyan from a few minutes earlier: "I'll be there in half an hour."
For the first time in recent days, aside from the gossip, she had a real connection with this name.
Bored with waiting, she decided to walk out along the road. As she walked along tonight, she realized that half a month had passed in the blink of an eye. Although the nighttime temperature was still low, the flowers along the road had all bloomed.
She stopped under the streetlight, tiptoed, and carefully examined the tree beneath it; it was a magnolia.
She used to catch up on sleep every time she drove this road. The blooming season had not yet arrived, and the small flower buds were curled up on the branches. If you didn't look closely, you would probably just think of it as an ordinary dead tree in spring.
Su Er recalled that night when she gazed at the sparse stars in the sky. In that courtyard where she thought she would fall into an abyss, there was also a magnolia tree that stretched out over the courtyard wall.
The wind and rain that night did not destroy the flower buds as expected. At this moment, in another corner of the city, they are probably blooming in this spring night, just like the one in front of us.
Su Er lowered her gaze to the petals in the mud. She used to simply divide people into two categories: good people and bad people.
But after entering the entertainment industry, she began to realize that even if the magnolia gets covered in dust, it will not lose its pure white color. There are not so many black and white things in the world.
She suddenly thought of Jiang Siyan. He had a captivating face, but when his eyes looked at people, he seemed to be forever aloof and indifferent to all living beings.
As for her... could she be considered a good person?
Thinking of this, Su Er couldn't help but laugh out loud, a laugh that was five parts self-mockery.
"Xiao Er?" Someone suddenly called her from behind.
Su Er was startled. The muddy road under her feet was uneven, but fortunately she had changed into sneakers beforehand, so she didn't fall.
She clutched her chest, still shaken, and looked at the person who had come in. It was the male actor from the film crew who had acted opposite her.
Xu Jiaguang got out of the car with an apologetic look on his face and reached out to help her. "I'm sorry, Xiao Er, did I scare you?"
Su Er avoided his hand, took a step back, and greeted him with a distant and polite greeting.
Xu Jiaguang's fingers only grasped air, but he didn't seem embarrassed. He still asked enthusiastically, "You like this flower? Let me pick one for you."
"No need," she said coldly.
Xu Jiaguang seemed not to understand her refusal, and lowered his head, rolling up his sleeves as if preparing to show off his skills. "We are colleagues, after all. You don't need to be so polite with me."
He spoke so tactfully that an uninformed person might actually think he was a very kind-hearted person.
Before joining the crew, Sister Keqin reminded her to stay away from Xu Jiaguang, as he was not very honest during filming.
Su Er and he had several intimate scenes together, and she was very careful throughout.
But just two days ago, while filming, out of the camera's sight, Su Er clearly sensed those malicious hands lingering and caressing her waist and abdomen.
Although the shot only lasted five seconds, Su Er couldn't help but feel nauseous whenever she thought of the look Xu Jiaguang gave her when the director yelled "cut" and stared at her chest.
Su Er crossed her arms, not interested in watching his self-directed and self-acted drama. She held her breath and walked around him, continuing to walk forward along the road.
Without an audience, there's no need to continue this farce of picking flowers to win a smile from a beautiful woman.
But sometimes, shamelessness taken to an extreme can be astonishing.
The previous sentence was met with exclamation: How could this person be so shameless?
For example, right now, Xu Jiaguang seemed convinced that she was alone tonight, and he followed closely behind her, calling out, "Xiao Er, hasn't your car come yet? Are you going back to the hotel? Come on, take my car."
Given the significant physical disparity between men and women, she had no intention of confronting him directly. Su Er coldly replied, "No need, I'm waiting for someone." Secretly, however, she gripped her phone tightly, ready to call the police at any moment.
You can't blame her for being overly cautious; it's just that there's too much shady stuff going on in this industry.
A little further out is the street, where many staff members come out for late-night snacks. Su Er quickened her pace as she looked at the lights in the distance.
Xu Jiaguang's van followed behind them. He ran a few steps to catch up with Su Er, "Xiao Er, did I do something to make you misunderstand?"
"It's really getting late, and it's not safe for you to be out alone."
