The two people's departure dates happened to coincide on the same day, but they were at different airports and at different times.
The morning before departure, Su Er said to Lin Shuqin, "Sister Qin, the blue suitcase is for the film crew, please help me carry the other two suitcases back to my home."
Those were all her belongings in this room.
That evening, Jiang Siyan took her back to his old house in Dongfeng Lane for dinner.
As the sun sets, golden rays fall on the treetops, where the persimmon tree is laden with orange-yellow fruit.
Su Er then realized that she seemed to have never been here at this time of year before.
Jiang Siyan led her into the house, but Su Er suddenly grabbed him.
"What's wrong?" Jiang Siyan asked, turning his head.
"You still owe me a birthday present, remember?" Su Er looked up at him.
Jiang Siyan flicked her nose. "Have you decided what you want?"
"Hmm." Su Er pointed to the persimmon tree behind him. "Go pick me a persimmon. I haven't had one yet."
The first time she came here was in the summer. He said that when the persimmons ripened in the fall, he would pick the sweetest and biggest one for her.
It's a pity that every time they argued afterward, it seemed to happen during the persimmon season, and that promise was never kept.
Jiang Siyan frowned. "You want this?"
Su Er puffed out her cheeks. "You promised me you'd pick them or not."
"Zhai, finish your meal, okay?" Jiang Siyan pinched her cheek. "Why do you get angry so easily?"
Whether it's earlier or later, there's really no difference.
She nodded and went into the house with him. Aunt Cui greeted her warmly, just as she had when they first met.
As they left after their meal, Aunt Cui held her hand and reluctantly told her, "Come often in the future, and tell Aunt Cui in advance what you want to eat."
Su Er didn't know how to answer Aunt Cui, this should be the last time she came here.
Su Er couldn't bear to upset Aunt Cui, so she nodded and said, "Okay, I understand."
Jiang Siyan put his arm around her and they walked together to the persimmon tree.
Su Er helped him hold his coat, and seeing him unbutton his wrists, she couldn't help but worry, "This looks a bit high, maybe we should forget about it."
Jiang Siyan gently patted the top of her head to reassure her, "I've been climbing since I was a baby, I'll be fine."
Jiang Siyan climbed up the tree trunk with one hand, and with a little effort, steadily climbed up the thick branch.
Su Er kept her eyes fixed on him, saying, "Be careful."
Jiang Siyan, on the contrary, was quite calm. After carefully selecting the brightest persimmon for her, he jumped down while holding onto the tree trunk.
Jiang Siyan had given her many gifts, including dazzling jewelry and expensive dresses, but none of them seemed as precious as the orange persimmon in front of her.
"Are you happy?" he asked, spreading his palms out.
Su Er took the perfectly ripe persimmon; the peel seemed to still retain his body heat.
Su Er smiled and nodded, then tiptoed to tidy his slightly messy hair. "I'm very happy, Jiang Siyan."
Instead of immediately getting into the car and going back, they held hands and took a walk around the area together.
They walked together through the streets where he used to play as a child, and he would point to a corner and tell her that he had fallen there once, and that's how he got the scar on his leg.
On the way, he met an elderly couple who asked him if he was taking his girlfriend for a walk.
Jiang Siyan nodded in agreement, and Su Er followed suit, greeting his uncle and aunt.
They seemed to have been gone for a very, very long time, so long that Su Er's last lingering affection for this relationship faded away in her heart.
She thought that was enough; she was content with the journey she had taken.
On the way back, Su Er leaned on his shoulder, no longer praying that the journey could be slower, and simply closed her eyes and waited silently.
Waiting for the car to stop, waiting for the farewell to arrive.
Jiang Siyan patted her, "Er'er, we're home."
Su Er opened her eyes, paused for a few seconds, and nodded, saying, "Oh, okay."
They got out of the car together and were about to walk towards the elevator when Su Er stopped, grabbed his hand, and called out, "Jiang Siyan."
"Um?"
She said, "I won't go back with you."
Her van was parked not far away. Jiang Siyan glanced at it, frowned, and asked, "Do you have something to do so late?"
Su Er shook her head and said no.
Jiang Siyan stared at her face and also sensed that something was wrong.
Before he could react, Su Er had already broken free of his hand, met his gaze, and said, "Jiang Siyan, let's end this. Let's stop here."
