Chapter 124 After Marrying the Crippled Prince, Part 4
Yun Chiyi went to bed early tonight, but was also plagued by nightmares early on.
When I woke up, my mind was in a daze, and I still couldn't remember any of the images except for that flash of red that passed before my eyes.
It looks like a wedding dress, but you can't see it clearly.
She was thirsty and lifted the bed curtains to pour herself a glass of water. But the moment her burning hand touched the snow-white bed curtains, it bumped into a hand with distinct knuckles.
In an instant, she clenched her back teeth.
The bed curtains were lifted, and a face as beautiful as if carved from jade peeked in. Yun Chiyi immediately woke up, her back covered in sweat, and she slowly sat up.
Lin Jinyuan lifted half of the bed curtain, took off his outer clothes, and got into bed.
Yun Chiyi stared at him intently.
Who would quietly enter her room in the dead of night? She was so frightened she almost lost her mind.
Lin Jinyuan used his long arms to pull down the bed curtains, and the layers of white gauze blocked out the cold moonlight. He sat on the outside, his warm palms cupping her soft cheek.
He asked in a low voice, "Were you scared?"
Yun Chiyi nodded truthfully, and even emphasized it twice.
Lin Jinyuan lowered his eyes and said, "You shouldn't have seen such a scene during the day."
He misunderstood. Yun Chiyi was startled when she woke up and initially thought it was a ghost.
Lin Jinyuan gently stroked her cheek with his thumb and coaxed her softly, "Don't be afraid."
Yun Chiyi licked her dry upper lip and tapped her chin again.
She tried to express that she was thirsty, but his wet, thin lips suddenly pressed against hers. Yun Chiyi's gaze froze, caught off guard by his sudden outburst.
Her pale arm, which had been raised in mid-air, trembled and grasped weakly. She instinctively hugged a warm shoulder, and her silky black hair slipped between her fingers, obscuring seventy percent of her snow-white skin.
She parted her lips slightly, but Lin Jinyuan stopped.
He leaned on her shoulder, his voice clear and bright: "I thought you would run away."
Did they change the script tonight? Why didn't they tell her beforehand?
Lin Jinyuan propped himself up on his arm, his dark pupils fixed on her eyes, the misty tears gradually spreading from them.
"Want another kiss?"
He asked her gently what she thought, but Yun Chiyi was unsure what he wanted!
Yun Chiyi's hand slid from his back to his shoulder, her pale fingertips gripping his white undergarment tightly.
With her chest heaving, Yun Chiyi licked her lips and pointed a finger at the tea on the table.
Lin Jinyuan couldn't help but chuckle: "Thirsty?"
Yun Chiyi nodded vigorously.
"Go ahead, it's dark inside, be careful."
The large hand that had been on her waist slowly withdrew, and Yun Chiyi slipped out of his embrace, got out of bed, and poured herself a full glass of water by the moonlight.
The moonlight enveloped her long hair, and her slender, supple waist appeared cool and captivating in the moonlight.
Lin Jinyuan's eyes remained calm and still as he waited for her to put down the water glass and slowly climb onto the bed.
The bed curtains fell away again, revealing her fair skin and delicate bones hidden in the darkness.
She sat facing him, her long fingers silently reaching up to caress his moist lips.
He asked again, "Do you want more?"
This is the time to sleep, not to argue with him.
Yun Chiyi leaned close and kissed the corner of his lips, then quickly lifted the covers, lay down, and turned her back to him.
She couldn't see that Lin Jinyuan's eyes had shifted behind her, and that he was staring blankly at her figure.
Half an hour ago, Chao Sheng brought back news. Lin Jinyuan was somewhat surprised that the person who obediently snuggled into his arms on their wedding night would have such a deep entanglement with Lin Tingyu.
I thought she was the Empress's person, but it turns out she was Lin Tingyu's person.
Want to be an imperial concubine? You'll have to wait until your next life.
Lin Jinyuan wanted to force her to reveal her weakness, make her unable to withstand his demands, and make her willingly throw herself into Lin Tingyu's arms to complain, so that others would discover these sordid things.
He wouldn't need to wait three months to take her life; a secret decree from the palace would be issued, and she would leave without a sound.
After a while, Lin Jinyuan sat on the bed like a Buddha, motionless.
He wouldn't sleep, but she still wanted to sleep.
Yun Chiyi turned over and reached out to tug at his sleeve.
Lin Jinyuan lay down and wrapped his strong arms around the slender waist, pulling the drowsy person into his embrace.
His pinky finger lingered on her lower abdomen as he asked, "My lady, once you've recovered your health, would you like to bear me a son and a daughter?"
She knew he was acting, but she still nodded blankly with her back to him.
But in his heart he was silently chanting, "Keep dreaming, if you want to have children, have them yourself."
"Let's have twins, a boy and a girl."
Lin Jinyuan kissed the back of her neck and placed his fingers on her pulse. She could deceive him on the surface, but her heartbeat couldn't be faked.
But her pulse was steady and normal, and she peacefully fell asleep.
-
Half a month later, in late April.
After resting for several days, Yun Chiyi's spirits gradually recovered.
Zhenzhen woke her up and helped her with her hair and makeup.
She got this girl with round eyes from Lin Jinyuan.
Zhenzhen had been in the manor for less than a month and was often bullied by others. Yun Chiyi seized the opportunity to rescue her once and took advantage of the situation to transfer her to his side.
There needs to be someone in the house who is loyal to her so that things can get done.
Zhenzhen is young, only fifteen this year, but she is very organized and has even taught herself the popular hairstyles among noble ladies. These past two days, she has been happily combing Yun Chiyi's hair.
She held her breath, tidied a stray strand of hair, hooked the jade bead string into her thick, cloud-like hair, and squatted down, holding up a mirror so that Yun Chiyi could see the hair she had just styled.
Yun Chiyi glanced at her and smiled gently.
Zhenzhen then knew that this meant she had won the princess's favor.
She put down the mirror and carefully helped Yun Chiyi to her feet.
"Is the Princess going out today?"
Yun Chiyi nodded.
Zhenzhen smiled, revealing two dimples, and said, "I already consulted the Prince yesterday at dusk. A carriage has been prepared outside. Your Highness, please go and have breakfast first."
It was a rare treat to sit at the same table as Lin Jinyuan for a meal. The meal was quite substantial, with fish porridge, snacks, and sweet soup.
Yun Chiyi was full after only a few bites, so she put down her chopsticks and waited quietly for Lin Jinyuan to finish eating.
Lin Jinyuan broke off half a walnut pastry and put it in her bowl.
"This contains goat milk, have a taste."
Yun Chiyi could eat half a piece, wiped her hands clean, picked it up, and chewed it.
The best thing on the table is the walnut shortbread; she's already eaten two pieces.
Lin Jinyuan put down his chopsticks and noticed that one of her cheeks was bulging, indicating that she seemed to be in a good mood.
He asked her, "Does Your Highness have important business to attend to outside the palace?"
Yun Chiyi suddenly stopped chewing, looked at him, and raised her sleeve.
Lin Jinyuan said, "If you want someone to come and tailor clothes, just ask them to come over. Madam is frail, and if she catches a cold outside, she will fall ill again."
He changed his mind as soon as he finished speaking: "Is the money you gave me enough, Madam? If you have new clothes, you'll also need a set of jewelry."
Yun Chiyi shook his head. He was just being polite, mentioning it casually to avoid making a fool of himself.
When she went out, Lin Jinyuan asked Chaosheng to escort her to the street.
They were ostensibly guards, but in reality, they were surveillance agents.
Yun Chiyi got into the carriage and let Zhenzhen talk to her.
Zhenzhen doesn't go out often, but she tries her best to keep an eye on the outside world and knows very well which brands have released new styles.
She gesticulated wildly inside the carriage, insisting that she wouldn't be satisfied until she saw joy in Yun Chiyi's eyes.
Chao Sheng listened for a while from the outside, and his suspicions gradually dissipated. It seemed that the princess had only come to buy new clothes. Women all over the world love beauty, and the princess was no exception.
Before long, the carriage stopped in front of the most famous silk shop in the capital. Zhenzhen got out of the carriage first, and then helped Yun Chiyi down.
Inside were mostly ladies from noble families and wives of high-ranking officials, gathered together discussing which style of silk brocade they should have.
Chao Sheng, leading his horse, smelled the rich fragrance of various flowers mixed together and couldn't help but sneeze.
He went to park his car and waited at the main entrance.
As soon as Yun Chiyi entered, she was pulled behind a pillar by a pair of hands. She turned around slowly and saw Lan Yihan looking at her with teary eyes.
"Yi'er, you..."
Before she could speak, Yun Chiyi frowned, interrupting her, and then gestured with her eyes to Zhenzhen behind her.
Lan Yihan had doubts, and seeing her hesitant to explain, she felt even more distressed.
The daughter must have been wronged at the Prince's mansion, which is why she secretly left a letter to arrange a meeting.
Lan Yihan wiped away her tears with a handkerchief: "It's getting warmer, so I'm here today to make some clothes for your father."
Yun Chi sent Zhenzhen to look at the silks and satins, and then pulled Lan Yihan through the orchid-scented perfume to sit behind a hidden pillar.
She carried a charcoal pencil with her and pulled out a piece of letter paper.
The first sentence reads: "I am an unfilial daughter, causing my mother to worry about me. I am doing well, so please don't worry, Mother."
Upon seeing the first four characters she had written, Lan Yihan burst into tears.
Yun Chiyi raised her finger and smiled gently to comfort her.
I wrote again: I have something to ask my mother for help with, and I hope she will keep it a secret.
Lan Yihan's handkerchief was soaked with sweat, and her eyes were red as she looked at her, whispering, "Silly child, what do you need your mother for?"
Yun Chiyi wrote: I want to get treatment for my illness, and I also want to get treatment for my throat. I would like to trouble my mother to find a female doctor surnamed Shangguan for me.
She made a promise with Lan Yihan that after finding the person, she would send him pastries as a sign, and they would meet here three days later.
Shangguan Chulan is the fourth female character in the novel, possessing superb medical skills. She lives in the imperial city, is kind-hearted, and has a chivalrous spirit, making her the perfect candidate.
Yun Chiyi handed the letter to Lan Yihan, asking her to help destroy it.
Later, Lan Yihan talked about the current situation of the Yun family. Yun Shuxue had climbed up to the Gao family, and the young master Gao would be coming to propose marriage the day after tomorrow.
Yun Chiyi wasn't very interested, but listened patiently.
She should go back now. She got up to look at the fabric that Zhenzhen had chosen. This girl had a good eye. Yun Chiyi picked out two magnolia-colored pieces, wrapped them up, and asked Lan Yihan to take them back to the manor.
She gazed thoughtfully, then asked Zhenzhen to take down a piece of pine-green brocade with crane patterns from the shelf.
As Zhenzhen reached for it, she said, "Your Highness, this color is more suitable for men's robes."
After she finished speaking, she suddenly realized: "So the princess is choosing for the prince!"
Bring him a gift when you go out; it will fulfill his desire to maintain a respectful and harmonious marriage.
After everything was wrapped up, Zhenzhen hugged it happily in her arms and stood beside it. Yun Chiyi and Lan Yihan talked for a while longer.
Suddenly, I heard a loud and lively noise outside.
With a smile, she looked towards the door in the direction of the voice and saw a man in brocade robes and a golden crown leading two beautiful women in.
With just one glance, Yun Chiyi's expression turned cold. She slowly turned her back, wishing she had left sooner if she had known she would run into him.
Upon seeing the visitors, the silk shop owner called out and went to greet them.
"Your Highness, the Prince Lin! Your Highness has graced us with your presence, yet you didn't even send anyone to inform us!"
