Chapter 14: The List of 14 After the Fake Heiress Ran Away from Her Wedding
The two remained silent for a long time. Later, Yun Chiyi, still smiling with her eyes crinkled, directly asked Lin Jishen for the guest list.
Lin Jishen casually tucked the peace knot into his notebook, his eyes slightly cold: "What do you need this for?"
Yun Chiyi dodged the question, saying, "I need to prepare some gifts in advance to make some friends through this opportunity."
Unexpectedly, Lin Jishen still remembered what she had said that afternoon: "You said you don't have many friends."
She gave a perfunctory reply: "That's why you need to socialize more."
Lin Jishen pressed his knuckles tightly against the book in his hand: "I've already figured out how to bribe me."
The sky had darkened, but their eyes shone brightly in the night.
Yun Chiyi said, "One thing at a time."
Lin Jishen was still looking at her: "You go back first. I have a friend here, and I need to prepare a small gift for him."
As he finished speaking, a smile crept onto his lips.
Perhaps this birthday banquet will not be peaceful.
Yun Chiyi returned to Hongshan Garden and found that guests had come to visit.
Upon entering the living room, one finds the Gu family father and son. Gu Zhao is speaking eloquently to Yun Jingui, reporting on his recent work, his animated expression exactly the same as at the dinner table.
Gu Chi was huddled in the corner of the sofa, holding a water glass in his hands. When he saw Yun Chiyi come in, his hands trembled as he gripped the water glass tightly and gulped down half of it.
If it weren't for his reaction, Yun Chiyi would have almost forgotten some things.
Gu Zhao smiled and waved to her: "Xiao Yi, you must be tired from helping the Gong family. Come and sit down."
Yun Jingui leaned back on the sofa with her arms crossed and raised her voice, saying, "Now that you've said that, she doesn't know what to do at home."
Gu Zhao said awkwardly, "Mom is right."
Yun Chiyi sat down next to Yun Jingui and started eating fruit. When Gu Zhao asked about today's events, she responded slowly with a few words.
Several people tried their best to create a scene of family harmony.
Gu Zhao stood up after sitting for a while: "Xiao Yi, come with me for a walk in the garden."
Yun Chiyi looked at him blankly: "Isn't it time for dinner? I'm so hungry."
Gu Zhao hated her for being slow-witted; this clearly meant he had something to say to her privately.
He was a successful businessman all his life, so how could he have given birth to such a dull-witted and inconsiderate daughter?
Yun Jingui slowly stood up: "I didn't know you were coming over tonight, so I only cooked for two people, and I even told Meimei to add some dishes."
She went over with her cane and spoke first to remind the kitchen staff, "Meimei, the guests want to stay for dinner."
A few words are more embarrassing than an order to leave.
Gu Zhao had no choice but to pretend he hadn't heard and forcibly dragged Yun Chiyi out.
Yun Chiyi hurriedly grabbed a handful of toffee and reluctantly followed behind.
A breeze picked up in the garden, and it felt cool on my arms.
Gu Zhao no longer had the bowing and scraping expression he had shown earlier in front of her. He lit a cigarette and took a half puff to catch his breath.
"Xiaoyi, your Uncle Gong's birthday is next week. Our family also needs to prepare some birthday gifts. What do you think would be appropriate?"
Yun Chiyi stopped peeling the candy wrapper: "Huh?"
Gu Zhao didn't expect anything from her: "I found an ancient painting and a tea set..."
Yun Chiyi excitedly interrupted him: "Ancient paintings are good, he likes ancient paintings the most."
Gu Zhao was dissatisfied with her impolite behavior, but at least she made a decision.
"If you think it's good, then you can help present it as a gift."
Yun Chiyi chewed on the candy, thought it tasted good, and then peeled off another one and put it in her mouth.
Gu Zhao gestured from the side: "When giving something to someone, you should present it with both hands to show respect and politeness."
Yun Chiyi nodded perfunctorily.
Gu Zhao bowed with both hands forward again, and perhaps finding it funny, he quickly changed the subject: "I've been busy lately, and I only have time to look at your designs when I have some free time. They're very good, and you've made some progress."
With a candy in her mouth, she couldn't speak easily, so she raised her hand to indicate a pause, quickly chewed the candy, and then asked in confusion, "Didn't Dad check the byline? That wasn't my work, it was Yan Yan's manuscript."
When Wen Yan Yan finalized the draft, she used Yun Chi Yi's name, just as they had agreed in their deal. However, Yun Chi Yi made changes later without Wen Yan Yan's knowledge.
Gu Zhao was slightly taken aback; no wonder it didn't look like her handiwork.
Once he realized what was happening, he actually felt relieved.
The Yun family may need a daughter, but they don't need a daughter who is too capable.
Gu Zhao said quite generously, "No matter what, it was designed by your group."
Yun Chiyi nodded, looking extremely obedient.
Gu Zhao patted her shoulder as encouragement: "Since it's Wen Yanyan's design, consider it her performance score."
Yun Chiyi lowered her eyes, looking particularly dejected.
He's just a child, and all he wants to do is show off in front of his parents.
Gu Zhao lit a second cigarette, and in an instant, a solution came to his mind.
"Wen Yanyan is very talented, which has impressed me. We should focus on nurturing her in the future. However, if I remember correctly, the company made an exception to hire her because of you. We must not let this happen again."
Yun Chiyi nodded sullenly: "I understand."
Gu Zhao said, "I hope you can compare yourself to Wen Yan Yan. People can only improve by making comparisons, understand?"
Yun Chiyi's eyes reddened, and tears welled up in her eyes: "Okay, I understand."
Gu Zhao strode back, his brisk steps seemingly telling everyone that he had found a way to make the Yun family heir obedient.
Even if the Yun family finds an heir, if she is mediocre, she will only be a flower raised in a greenhouse.
Later, at the dinner table, Yun Chiyi ate a little something and then went upstairs to rest.
Yun Jingui watched her retreating figure with concern: "This child is in a bad mood tonight."
Gu Zhaosheng sipped the soup and humbly handed a bowl to Yun Jingui: "I reminded her a little about work matters. I should have talked to her about it after dinner."
Yun Jingui looked down at the pork rib soup, clearly having no appetite.
"What did they say?"
Gu Zhao shook his head and sighed: "The girl is quite playful. You know, Mom, we all started from the bottom. I just wanted her to gain some experience and develop her abilities."
Without mincing words, Yun Jingui was well aware of Yun Chiyi's personal style of doing things.
Overall, they are really spoiled and unreliable.
Yun Jingui said, "Aren't you her father? You should know how to teach her, right?"
Gu Zhao nodded repeatedly: "I can only offer a gentle reminder, but having a friend by her side should be able to inspire her."
Yun Jingui already had the name in her mind.
Gu Zhao added, "Wen Yan Yan is a really smart child, and she's a great role model for us to learn from."
In fact, Yun Chiyi did not enter the room, but stopped at the top of the stairs.
She looked indifferently at the dining table downstairs.
Gu Zhao believed that Wen Yan could be used as a sacrifice in a provocation tactic.
He didn't use reverse psychology.
Yun Chiyi's red lips curved slightly; it was normal for her to worry that the heir's brilliance was too dazzling.
She tiptoed back to her room to chat with Lin Jishen.

The phone on the table vibrated twice. Lin Jishen had just come out of the shower. He was drying his hair, and the scars that were faintly visible under his bathrobe looked hideous and about to crawl out.
As the weather gets cooler, the scars become red and itchy less often.
His eyes were deep and unfathomable. He picked up the phone on the table and saw Yun Chiyi reaching out for something.
Yun Chiyi waited for a long time but did not receive a reply.
[You're not going back on your word, are you?^^]
Lin Jishen first mixed a drink and then pondered some things.
The light in his eyes seemed about to fall at any moment. Given Yun Chiyi's playful personality, she should be able to handle this small task.
Around 8 p.m., Yun Chiyi received a string of names.
[Wang Jianjia, the twenty-first person, could you please deliver this gift to him for me?]
Yun Chiyi involuntarily raised her eyebrows, her long eyelashes fluttering slightly.
Someone asked me to be a gift-delivering boy again. Is there any pay?
Don't let him realize your intentions.
Yun Chiyi stared at the cold, hard words and said softly, "Look at how he talks to himself like this."
[Mr. Lin, what is the gift?]
[Prepare it yourself]
I've never seen such an unreasonable person.
After silently complaining, Yun Chiyi smiled and sent him a crying face.
[TT]
Seeing the childish expression, Lin Jishen let out a cold laugh.
He's mentally ill, go ahead and provoke him.
[But please be careful]
[The other party retracted a message]
However, Yun Chiyi had already seen it.
After Yun Chiyi clarified his intentions, she couldn't contain her excitement. She hummed a song as she walked downstairs and found that Gu Zhao was still there.
She said in a clear, crisp voice, "I'm going to digest my food."
Gu Zhao looked at her suspiciously: "Why are you going out so late? It's not safe outside. Xiao Chi, why don't you go for a walk with your sister?"
Gu Chi, who thought he was about to crawl under the sofa, suddenly looked up and shuddered.
He walked out with a bitter face and saw Yun Chiyi making a phone call in the garden.
There was nothing unsafe in the garden, so he dared not approach it, but he didn't want to go back alone, so he squatted down by the grass.
Yun Chiyi glanced back at the tail behind her and deliberately raised her voice: "Good evening, Brother Wang. I'm Xiao Zhou."
Wang Wei was playing mahjong with someone when he touched his buzz cut in frustration: "Which Xiao Zhou is this? Why is it a woman's voice?"
Her voice was quite sweet: "Oh dear, you really have a bad memory. We met before when you played cards with my brother."
Gu Chi recognized Wang Wei on the other end of the phone. His eyes widened suddenly, and he swallowed nervously, feeling as if his throat was being squeezed and he could hardly breathe.
He stood up unsteadily and ran back to the living room as if fleeing.
Yun Chiyi gazed in the direction Gu Chi had fled, her face serene, her voice returning to normal: "I have something to ask of you. I need someone to embroider a few small handkerchiefs for me. Please take a pen and write down the details."
After finishing his business, he was about to head back when Gu Zhao came out with Gu Chi.
Gu Zhao didn't see Yun Chiyi in the garden; instead, she was busy scolding Gu Chi.
"Why are you always in such a panic? Are you a mouse? You're always so timid."
"Tell me, what can I expect from you? Did your mother and I give birth to you just so you could embarrass me?"
"Look at yourself! Do you have any manly qualities? You're hopeless. I'd be ashamed to say you're my son."
Gu Chi clenched his fists tightly, almost burying his head in his chest.
Yun Chiyi calmly watched all of this and saw them off.
