Chapter 150 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 5 (Film Crew)
Yun Chiyi slowly stirred her coffee, the aroma of coffee beans filling the air around her. She glanced at Zhao Muqing, but remained silent.
She looked down at him, her gaze slightly cold.
At first, Zhao Muqing stared at her with wide eyes. Then, seeing that she had almost finished her coffee, she put down the cup. Just as he was about to interrupt, her slender fingers hooked the cup back up, and Zhao Muqing had no choice but to sit back down on the sofa.
The room was so quiet you could hear the ticking of a clock.
Zhao Muqing gradually frowned. He had been the one to contact Yun Chiyi all this time, but even so, he still hadn't received any response.
It is said that you shouldn't be too enthusiastic in a relationship, or you'll be at a disadvantage.
No, no, I can't let her control me.
Zhao Muqing adjusted her posture, crossed one leg over the other, and then glanced at her out of the corner of her eye.
Yun Chiyi put down her coffee cup, picked up her phone from the table, and started scrolling through videos of celebrity gossip.
Seeing an interesting piece of gossip, she curved her pink lips into a smile, then bit her lower lip to suppress a laugh, and clicked on more marketing accounts to explain.
She sat at her desk for a full ten minutes watching videos. Seeing that she was completely engrossed, Zhao Muqing could no longer contain herself and stood up from her seat in a fit of anger.
“Yun Chiyi…”
Yun Chiyi turned her head with a half-smile, raised her hand to interrupt him: "Let's talk this out. Don't yell. Also, I'm your boss. Please don't call me by my first name."
Zhao Muqing unconsciously lowered her voice: "President Xiaoyun..."
Yun Chiyi crossed her arms and interrupted again, "Do you know my father? There's only one CEO Yun in this company."
Zhao Muqing was completely speechless: "President Yun."
Yun Chiyi smiled charmingly, leaning casually against the desk: "Please speak."
With a faint smile on her beautiful face, Zhao Muqing had planned how to intimidate her on his way here, but now, facing her gentle smiling eyes, all the schemes he had devised over several nights had failed him.
Zhao Muqing helplessly spread one hand: "President Yun, given our relationship, I won't beat around the bush. The company relies on me for support, and you promised me last month that you would increase my dividends and let me invest in the company. You haven't forgotten about that, have you?"
Yun Chiyi looked up slightly and suddenly realized: "So that's what it was about. Of course you can get the dividends. I just discussed it with the other shareholders yesterday. I'll have Xiao Li give you the contract we finalized later. You should have tens of millions in savings, otherwise your investment is too small and you won't get much profit."
Upon hearing this, Zhao Muqing sneered, "That's not right. You promised me a low-price investment."
Yun Chiyi gently clenched her fist and pressed it against her lips, pondering for a long time: "Did I say anything about this? When did I forget?"
The system laughed heartily: [Host, you're incredibly shameless. But then again, this is something the original owner promised, it has nothing to do with us.]
Zhao Muqing immediately flew into a rage, slamming her hand on the coffee table: "Yun Chiyi, stop pretending to be confused!"
Yun Chiyi yelled back, "Didn't I tell you not to yell at me?!"
She slowly walked down and stood opposite him: "I've given you quite a lot, haven't I? Those two houses and the latest car were all gifts from me. Have you ever felt grateful?"
"Don't think I don't know what you think of me behind my back, but I don't care anymore. There's only one relationship between us now: I'm your boss. You either follow my instructions or leave the company." Yun Chiyi spoke slowly and deliberately, her gaze fixed intently on Zhao Muqing's changing expression.
His expression had shifted from anger to a hint of shame, but at the same time he clenched his teeth tightly, unsure whether he regretted his long-term strategy or resented Yun Chiyi's sudden change of attitude.
"I don't care if you think I'm an untrustworthy person, but there's one thing you should know: other entertainment companies won't give you all the good resources to choose from first; they all need to support top stars."
She spoke bluntly, but every word she said made sense.
Zhao Muqing couldn't use the same passive-aggressive tactics she used before, so she could only mutter under her breath, "What about Lin Yuche?"
Yun Chiyi casually said, "I wonder how things are going for him since he joined the crew. I'll go check on him later."
That's not what Zhao Muqing wanted to hear. He was furious but trying to suppress his anger: "Why did you give him such good resources?"
His voice was trembling, probably because he was holding back a lot of pain. Yun Chiyi glanced at him indifferently: "Even the director wouldn't be interested in your mediocre acting skills."
Zhao Muqing was speechless and unable to refute.
She had been dealing with the two people with the same set of words, and now she was getting a little tired of it. Yun Chiyi glanced at the clock on the wall and reached for her slender fingers to pick up her small turquoise handbag.
"Xiao Li is in talks for a popular variety show. It pays well, has little work, and high exposure. You should stay put. You're my first choice."
Zhao Muqing raised her eyebrows, desperately suppressing the joy at the corners of her mouth.
"When will we get results...?"
Yun Chiyi walked past him with her bag slung over her shoulder: "Another day. I have to go now."
That was still far from being settled. Zhao Muqing, with his thick eyebrows and big eyes, glared fiercely at her back.
She was in a hurry, as if she had made arrangements for something at the last minute. Could it be that she was really going to visit Lin Yuche on set?
Is Lin Yuche her current target?
That person is a tough nut to crack, neither yielding to soft words nor yielding to hard ones. Fortunately, Yun Chiyi isn't one to give up until she hits a wall. Once she gets a taste of her own medicine, she'll know who she should put first in her heart.
The film crew was in a small town in the same city. Li Aman drove for two hours. The warm sun was shining down, and the car was filled with soft orange light. She pulled over early and turned around to wake up the person who was sleeping in the back seat.
"Ms. Yun, we're almost there."
Yun Chiyi covered her lips with her long fingers and lazily yawned.
Li Aman turned around and continued driving.
Yun Chiyi leaned against the car window, her gaze languid, slowly sipping freshly squeezed apple juice through a straw.
She looked out the window at the narrow asphalt road. There weren't many residents in the town, and most of the pedestrians outside were either paparazzi brought in by the film crew or fans.
Their car was too conspicuous; they were spotted by paparazzi as soon as they got off the highway.
The photographers on the mountain shared photos in the group chat. When the nine photos of top-of-the-line luxury cars were posted, everyone in the group was shocked.
"Wow, who's the big shot visiting the set?"
"Isn't that too high-profile? Aren't they afraid of trending on social media?"
"Is that a celebrity sitting in the back seat? I've never seen them before."
"If she's the sugar daddy of one of the lead actors, this is big news today! Don't fight over her, I'm going to grab a seat, hahaha!"
Yun Chiyi had no idea that the car this body was used to would cause a commotion.
Upon arrival, two parking spaces suddenly became empty, and Li Aman skillfully backed into them.
The mountain sun was scorching, and even the early spring dusk was not spared. Yun Chiyi got out of the car with an umbrella, and the staff waiting nearby offered her bottled water.
Yun Chiyi smiled and declined, "No need, I drank juice in the car and can't drink anymore."
"The set is being rebuilt now, and the actors are taking a break."
The staff secretly sized her up, marveling at how young she was to own her own company. She was at the peak of her youth, with full collagen and a toned figure. She herself was also remarkable, possessing a face even more stunning than that of a celebrity, as flawless as jade inside and out.
Moreover, she wasn't as domineering and unreasonable as rumored. On the surface, apart from being extremely wealthy, she seemed quite approachable.
As Yun Chiyi listened to the staff members blushing as they explained the situation of the film crew, she slowly walked into an old house.
The courtyard was rather messy; some people were eating, some were squatting together reciting lines, and other staff were setting up the night scene.
She quickly scanned the area but didn't see Lin Yuche, nor the director or producer.
The male lead of the drama stepped forward, his young and handsome face beaming with a smile as he struck up a conversation with her. Yun Chiyi was busy looking for Lin Yuche, and after he introduced himself, she nodded with a smile and turned away, very neatly and efficiently.
The "male protagonist," dressed in a long robe, was about to open the folding fan in his hand. He hadn't even memorized the poem he had read twice when she had already walked away. He missed the best opportunity to show off and could only stand alone in the cold wind, feeling sorry for himself.
Yun Chiyi found Lin Yuche under a moss-covered sycamore tree. He was sitting on the ground with his back against the tree, wearing a patched gray theatrical suit.
It was mealtime. He held his chopsticks with his long, well-defined fingers, occasionally picking up a grain of rice and putting it in his mouth. As he chewed, his eyes remained calm and still, like a sculpture.
A gentle breeze rustled through the sycamore trees, and a familiar fragrance filled his nostrils. Just a second before his eyes noticed her high heels, his sense of smell had already alerted him to her arrival.
"You're just eating plain rice? You should at least add some side dishes," Yun Chiyi asked.
Lin Yuche didn't look up: "What brings President Yun here?" His tone was a little cold.
Yun Chiyi squatted down and forcibly turned his face so that he would look directly at her. She frowned in confusion: "I came all this way to see you, there's no need for you to give me that attitude."
Lin Yuche turned his head and shook off her hand.
"Everyone else is having a lively time, but you're sitting here all alone. What's wrong? Are you being ostracized because you're a monster?"
Yun Chiyi took off the scarf around her neck, spread it on the ground, and sat down next to him.
Lin Yuche moved two inches to the side.
Yun Chiyi insisted on squeezing in and touching his arm: "Have you become mute? Tell me what's wrong, and I'll handle it."
Her voice was soft and beautiful, but the words she conveyed were firm and unquestionable.
Lin Yuche remained silent for a moment, his eyes growing increasingly deep and somber: "It's nothing."
He had seen countless people over the past thousand years, and he had encountered all sorts of people. He no longer cared about other people's opinions. People live as flesh and blood, and when they die, they become a handful of dust. To him, these people were no different from the pebbles under his feet.
Yun Chiyi snorted coldly: "You're from my company. If they treat you badly, they're disrespecting the Yun family. I don't like being bullied, and I have nothing better to do, so I'll stand up for you."
Lin Yuche responded calmly: "No need."
However, Yun Chiyi grabbed the scarf from the ground and quickly got up.
Lin Yuche's face finally showed a hint of emotion, and in his haste, he grabbed her wrist: "You don't need to go."
