Chapter 155 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 10 Lunch

Chapter 155 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 10 Lunch

The next day, Lin Yuche arrived at Yun Chiyi's house ahead of schedule.

He remained motionless, as if frozen in ice and snow.

After a while, a hand with clearly defined bone structure was raised and knocked on the door, two short knocks followed by one long one, in a very rhythmic pattern.

A few seconds later, his keen ears heard the swishing sound of slippers coming from inside the room.

The door opened, and Yun Chiyi, her face bare, her skin porcelain white, her eyes bright as stars, saw Lin Yuche, dressed in light clothing, arrive as promised, and immediately broke into a beautiful smile.

"I thought you weren't coming."

Lin Yu-che said, "It wasn't a pre-arranged agreement."

Yun Chiyi kicked a pair of oversized black slippers out of the shoe cabinet and complained, "Are all you monsters like this, or are you just special?"

Lin Yuche stood at the door without moving, staring blankly at the used men's slippers. Did a male customer come here often?

Yun Chiyi stood in the entryway, the soft light falling on her black hair. She explained, "Don't mind it, that's what my dad wore when he came over."

Only then did Lin Yuche feel at ease bending down to change his shoes and putting the black leather shoes he had taken off into the shoe cabinet.

Yun Chiyi's gaze followed his movements, and the upturned corners of her mouth indicated that she realized Lin Yuche's unusual behavior today.

Given his personality, he should have stood at the door and reached out to her for the contract, not bothering to step into her room at all.

Yun Chiyi smiled faintly: "The living room is a bit messy, just pretend you didn't see it."

Lin Yuche had prepared himself mentally, but when he saw the mountain of packages, he still couldn't help but frown.

"Please sit wherever you like. I'll find the contract for you after I've tidied up my things, otherwise I'll forget where I put it."

After saying that, Yun Chiyi took a soft cushion from the sofa, casually threw it on the carpet, and sat down cross-legged to open the package.

Lin Yuche offered, "I'll help you."

Yun Chiyi raised her face blankly: "Did you cause trouble on set?"

Lin Yuche squatted down, his slender body gazing at the scene with a puzzled look in his eyes, as he began to remove the tape from his hands.

Yun Chiyi said, "I really can't think of anything else. To put it bluntly, I feel like you've taken the wrong medicine."

Lin Yuche said against his will, "I have nothing to do anyway."

Afraid she would continue to press him about the reason for his change in attitude, he casually changed the subject: "What are these?"

Yun Chiyi happened to take out a talisman from the box: "A magical artifact for catching demons."

Lin Yuche's lips tightened.

Yun Chiyi explained frankly, "But don't worry, I won't hurt anyone. I don't have any magic power. At most, these things will only trigger my abilities when I encounter danger."

She then laughed and asked, "Are you scared?"

"No."

Lin Yuche was methodical in his work. He took out the items and put them aside, flattened the cardboard boxes and piled them up on one side. His manners were particularly pleasing to the eye.

Yun Chiyi watched his movements for a while, then continued unpacking the package, like opening a blind box, and pulled out a feather robe.

"This dress is quite pretty. The seller said it was the one that some kind of immortal wore when they ascended to heaven."

She glanced at him curiously and asked, "Lin Yuche, can demons become immortals?"

Lin Yuche turned his head slightly and said calmly, "Yes."

Yun Chiyi moved closer to him with great interest, her eyes bright and clear: "Tell me a few more words, all the demons can cultivate into immortals, isn't that too unfair to us mortals?"

She kept mentioning "monster" and there wasn't a trace of fear in her innocent eyes. Lin Yuche couldn't help but think of Qi Shu's threat last night, which made Qi Shu seem a bit stupid.

Yun Chi was annoyed that he was daydreaming again, and pushed his side: "Say something, don't get distracted."

Lin Yuche's thoughts returned, and he said, "Only demon immortals with divine status can become immortals. Demons and demon immortals are two different species."

He slowly categorized them by species, which amused Yun Chiyi for a long time.

"Which one are you?" Yun Chiyi asked with a smile.

Lin Yuche truthfully replied: "The latter."

Yun Chiyi laughed even harder, her eyes narrowed, but she wasn't mocking him.

He really didn't understand her sense of humor, and silently watched her laugh until her cheeks flushed and her eyes welled up with tears.

After laughing enough, Yun Chiyi patted her chest and said, "It's okay, it's okay. Let's continue tidying up. We'll have lunch soon."

Her words reminded him that some time had passed.

Yun Chiyi seemed to have forgotten about the contract, and was engrossed in directing him to arrange each magical artifact. She transformed the perfectly good high-end three-bedroom apartment into a Taoist temple.

She rang the bell to call someone to come and collect the cardboard boxes, and then called Lin Yuche to go to the washroom to wash his hands.

She discovered that, apart from filming, Lin Yuche did everything in a leisurely and unhurried manner.

It was just a simple hand wash. He first rinsed off the tiny scraps of paper and dust with water, gently shook off the water, and then used the heel of his palm instead of his fingers to press the hand soap. It had a woody scent, and he was very sensitive to the smell. He paused for a moment, and his eyes followed the scent. He rubbed his hands together to spread the foam between his fingers, palms, and backs of his hands.

At first, the foam was piling up in his hands. He slowly turned on the tap with his wrist, rinsed off the foam, and repeated the steps again.

Yun Chiyi watched anxiously from the side, but felt that she couldn't just wash it off casually. Her competitive spirit swelled instantly, and she followed Lin Yuche's steps, rubbing the back of her hands until they were red.

The two spent ten minutes washing their hands. When they came out, the cardboard box had been taken away, and a robot vacuum cleaner was cleaning the floor.

Yun Chiyi glanced at her watch: "It's time for lunch."

Lin Yuche looked at her, wondering why she hadn't mentioned the contract yet. He wondered if she was doing it on purpose or if she was just forgetful.

Yun Chiyi opened the insulated box and murmured in confusion, "That's strange, didn't we ask the housekeeper to cook today?"

Upon hearing this, Lin Yuche immediately concluded that she had a bad memory.

Suddenly, Yun Chiyi slowly realized that she had spent the whole morning with Lin Yuche and hadn't had time to tell the nanny to come up.

She was hungry and didn't want to order takeout.

The refrigerator was packed full of vegetables. She was wearing pajamas and her hair was not tied up. She took out two tomatoes from the refrigerator.

Her kitchen had an open-plan design, so Lin Yuche could see everything she did inside.

He had been standing quietly in the middle of the living room, but the moment he saw her about to chop vegetables with a spatula, he could no longer remain calm.

He knew that Yun Chiyi was used to a life of luxury and it was normal that she had never held a kitchen knife before. Of course, there was another reason: she was too lazy to use a cutting board.

"I'll do it."

Upon hearing this, Yun Chiyi turned around, her voice tinged with disdain: "Can you do it?"

Lin Yuche stated the facts: "I have also lived for over a thousand years."

"Is he showing off his age and knowledge?" Yun Chiyi suppressed a laugh, her eyebrows twitching slightly. "Then it sounds like you're very experienced."

She stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the stove, watching Lin Yuche put on his blue apron and slowly but methodically wash, chop, and heat the vegetables.

He's really good at it!

The white fox, who usually only eats a few grains of white rice, can actually cook rice.

Yun Chiyi took the opportunity to order: "Stir-fried celery with pork, stir-fried tomatoes with eggs, and a vegetable salad. You can have some too."

She pressed her advantage, curling her lips into a smile: "You can do it, right?"

Lin Yuche paused for a moment, then said, "Yes."

This was in response to her request for the director to take care of him.

Yun Chiyi clapped her hands, looking relaxed: "Then I'll go find you a contract."

She walked lightly into the room, her hands behind her back. She sat there leisurely scrolling through her phone for about ten minutes. Today's entertainment gossip was too dry, so she put down her phone, found some loose clothes, and went to take a shower.

After taking a shower and drying my hair, I came out and the aroma of stir-fried meat wafted from the kitchen.

Yun Chiyi took her lotion and skincare products to the living room for skincare. Watching Lin Yuche's busy but unhurried figure, her fingertips brushed against the corner of her eye, and she was suddenly stunned. She felt that this scene was somewhat familiar, as if she had experienced it somewhere before.

The lotion slid down the bridge of her upturned nose. Yun Chiyi blinked, not taking her momentary daze to heart.

She dawdled and finished everything, while Lin Yuche had already washed the pot and hung it up.

Yun Chiyi was so hungry that her steps were unsteady. She was already ready to sit at the table, and as soon as Lin Yuche brought out the dishes, she hurriedly began to eat heartily.

Her clean nose twitched, and her cheeks froze.

Lin Yuche asked her, "Doesn't it taste good?"

Yun Chiyi swallowed the tender shredded meat and gave a thumbs-up: "I didn't realize you were so good with spatulas."

Lin Yuche slowly sat down; there were only a few lettuce leaves in his bowl.

He eats ordinary food so that he won't stand out in a crowd.

Yun Chiyi ate quickly but gracefully, and she leisurely poured herself a glass of red wine to accompany her food.

A little wine is pleasant, but too much wine is harmful to health; she was just having a taste.

Lin Yuche chewed mechanically without looking up.

Yun Chiyi ate her fill and casually said, "Why don't you move next door to me? You can cook for me, and I'll cover your rent."

Lin Yuche's lips twitched. He had heard these words before. Back then, Yun Chiyi pestered him all day long, saying that she would rent a house for him so that he could live by her side and be with her whenever he wanted.

Actually, to keep Qi Shu away from her, packing her packages and cooking for her was enough. Any more would have triggered her old perverse sense of humor.

Seeing him holding the chopsticks with his long fingers and remaining silent, Yun Chiyi knew he had misunderstood.

She leaned back, laughing heartily, "You're overthinking it. What I mean is, didn't you promise to be my bodyguard? Living closer to you is the best way to protect me. Besides, you're a great cook, so you can come over and cook at mealtimes. I won't bother you at other times."

Lin Yuche's clenched hand loosened slightly: "Bodyguard?"

Yun Chiyi: "You foxes really have a short memory."

Oh, right, that's right. It was a suggestion she made casually at the hot spring hotel that day.

He thought it was a joke, but she had actually thought about it seriously.

Yun Chiyi is now too afraid of death, buying magical artifacts and hiring bodyguards, fearing that something might happen to her.

As Lin Yuche was pondering, the stool beneath him was kicked.

Yun Chiyi rested her head on her hand and asked, "Have you thought it through? The food is getting cold."

Lin Yuche asked, "Are you serious?"

Yun Chi smiled and said, "What's wrong with trusting me just once? I'm just a human being, I'll die after living for a few decades, I won't pose a threat to you."

Living nearby would make it easier to monitor Qi Shu's behavior. Lin Yuche convinced himself of this, and it took him a long time to finally say "okay".

Yun Chiyi was overjoyed and extended her pale pinky finger: "Pinky promise."

Lin Yuche did not reach out.

Yun Chiyi didn't take it to heart: "Never mind, anyway you agreed."
