Chapter 163 Stepping on the Fox's Tail 18 Airfare
When Yun Chiyi woke up, Lin Yuche's favorability rating had reached 40.
Well, after working so hard for so long, I still haven't reached the passing grade.
The system chimed in with a somber tone: "You haven't even tried!"
Yun Chiyi hugged her legs to wake herself up, arguing with the system, wondering if Lin Yuche had started to seduce her.
Then, the system said something that immediately brought her to her senses.
The male supporting character came by last night.
Yun Chiyi got out of bed and started washing up, while chatting with the system: "It's so far, how did he get here?"
System: [Estimated walking distance; you'll be covered in dew when you arrive.]
Yun Chiyi was slightly taken aback, thinking to herself, "Has he gone mad?"
Monsters are better; their long legs can travel a thousand kilometers without breaking.
Now that Lin Yuche has probably gone back, Yun Chiyi is a little curious: did he also walk home?
Imagine walking slowly and alone on a deserted mountain path; even the crows in the trees would think he's sick and unlucky.
Yun Chiyi tidied herself up. The weather was getting warmer, and she could finally wear her newly bought butterfly-print long dress.
She couldn't understand it, she really couldn't understand it.
The person was sitting in the downstairs restaurant, chewing on toast, but still looked completely bewildered.
What prompted Lin Yuche to travel a thousand miles to visit him?
She was somewhat troubled, but unwilling to think about it too deeply, so she simply put Lin Yuche into a travel variety show and recorded two episodes.
As darkness fell again, Yun Chiyi boarded the plane for her return journey. While dozing off, she patiently listened to a few words of annoyance from the system.
System: [Host, are you pushing variety show opportunities for the male supporting character to promote him more? But doesn't that reduce the time you spend with him? His favorability rating has just started to improve; we should step up our efforts!]
Yun Chiyi shook her head. She threw Lin Yuche into a variety show in another province because she had a bad sense of humor.
She simply wanted to see if he would show up in her room in the middle of the night if they were 4,000 kilometers apart.
As for the purpose of doing this, why think so much? I was just teasing him.
The system was speechless. After knowing her for so long, her host never played by the rules.
But it trusted her, a trust that was ingrained in its very bones.
Yun Chiyi found the system's act of showing loyalty too disgusting, so she simply blocked its voice, covered herself with a blanket and took a nap, putting the matter out of her mind.
After landing, she was busy dealing with the resources for Ai Bai's new drama with Li Aman, and a week passed in the blink of an eye.
On this day, a gentle breeze was blowing, and the system, mimicking a human, lazily yawned.
[Host, the male supporting character hasn't come this week.]
Yun Chiyi was lying in the beauty salon getting a body treatment and didn't even raise her head when she heard this.
His absence, in fact, proves that Lin Yuche is a normal monster.
Yun Chiyi lay down, her fingers touching her phone, then handed it to Li Aman, who was sitting and drinking tea.
"Xiao Li, make a voice call to Lin Yuche."
Li Aman skillfully took the phone, entered Lin Yuche's number, and found that the contact name was "Big Tail". Before Li Aman could think about the reason, she felt goosebumps all over her body.
In the vast desert, amidst the endless sandstorms, Lin Yuche sat resting under a tree, while the guests around him groaned and complained about the dry and hot weather.
He listened blankly, occasionally replying with a single word.
The guests found him too quiet, and as they spoke, it became a monologue, treating Lin Yuche like a tree standing alone in the desert, no longer expecting a reply from him.
As the sun began to set and the cold moon gradually rose, the boundless desert stretched to the horizon. For the first time ever, his phone rang. On the pop-up screen, Yun Chiyi's profile picture trembled slightly. Lin Yuche didn't answer, but instead looked into the far distance, inexplicably recalling the night he went to see Yun Chiyi.
He was bored at home and found the noise from her refrigerator bothersome, so he put on his coat and went downstairs for a walk.
Unconsciously, he walked out of the residential area and out of the city center. The sun rose and set, and the sound of wild dogs tearing and fighting came from the mountains and forests. His dim eyes suddenly widened, and he realized that he had walked for so long and so far.
Others might think it was a waste of time, but time was the one thing he had no shortage of. He lowered his lifeless eyes and chose to continue walking. He used his demonic power, so he walked extremely fast.
The night is filled with the heavy dew, all is quiet, everything in the mountains is asleep, and only occasional vehicles pass by under the streetlights in the city.
He walked alone, the desolate moonlight making his face appear pale, coated with a layer of pale, hazy light.
He found the hotel where Yun Chiyi was temporarily resting. His hand, still carrying the chill of the night, touched the door. He wasted a little of his demonic power and passed through the door panel, easily entering the room.
The room was filled with her fragrance, which acted like a tranquilizer, giving his wandering gaze a place to settle down.
The person on the bed was fast asleep, a strand of jet-black hair clinging to her fair cheek. She preferred to sleep on her stomach, her pale hand hanging down on the bed, completely unguarded.
Lin Yuche stood silently, even the shadow seemed indifferent. The shadow spread inch by inch, covering her cheeks, neck and body hidden under the thin blanket.
She was sleeping soundly, and a smile played on her soft lips, as if she were dreaming about something.
After a long while, Lin Yuche blinked and felt the rise and fall of his breath and the trembling of his heartbeat, something he hadn't experienced in a long time.
Yun Chiyi mumbled something, which he didn't hear clearly, but she opened her drowsy eyes, her long, butterfly-like eyelashes fluttering slightly, as if she had seen him.
The blood that belonged to her in his body was ignited, and he felt his fingertips burning. He hurriedly disappeared into the darkness and left.
As consciousness returned, the desolate desert landscape came into view once more, and the phone beside me was still buzzing and vibrating.
A fellow guest nudged Lin Yuche: "Aren't you going to accept it?"
The guest glanced at the shrunk profile picture on the page; it was hard to see clearly, but he could vaguely tell that it was a stunning beauty.
He then asked, "You don't answer your beautiful girlfriend's calls?"
girlfriend?
Lin Yuche silently pondered these three words in his mind: when had worldly relationships ever been related to him?
The guest, worried for him, said, "What are you waiting for? She's hung up!"
Lin Yuche swiped his fingers across the keys, and a scolding voice came from the phone.
"Lin Yuche, are you busy? You haven't answered the phone for ages?"
The guests chuckled, barely suppressing their laughter; they loved watching the drama unfold.
Lin Yuche stood up and walked away before speaking: "Did President Yun need something from me?"
Yun Chiyi casually inquired, "Ask if you're settling in well, and if you have enough supplies. If not, I'll have Xiao Li send you some."
Lin Yuche said calmly, "No need, it's enough."
When she was in a good mood, she was always polite to him, showing the consideration of a superior.
Her voice wasn't very clear, and after asking these questions, she fell silent for a while. Her breathing was especially noticeable in the receiver. Neither of them spoke. Lin Yuche didn't hang up, but listened to the changes in her breathing.
After a while, she sighed comfortably, then muttered a low reprimand to the person next to her.
"Be gentle, or you'll break my bones."
Where is she...?
Lin Yuche unconsciously pursed his lips.
He remained silent for a long time, and Yun Chiyi felt that talking to thin air made her seem crazy, so she quickly ended the conversation.
"Okay, you go ahead with your work. I'll continue my massage. Call me if you need anything."
So she asked about his recent situation during her spare time, and hung up before Lin Yuche could answer.
Lin Yuche looked down and saw his shadow fall at his feet, the azure night view of the desert blending with the slightly swaying black shadow.
At the end of the day, the director announced that due to road construction at the next scenic spot, they would have to rest for two days while waiting for the road to reopen. The guests were to arrange their own time, pay attention to safety, and return on time.
At one o'clock in the morning, Lin Yuche knocked on the guest's door. The guest was startled when he opened the door and saw it was him.
Lin Yuche said, word by word, "Could you please teach me how to book a plane ticket online? Thank you."
The guest asked, puzzled, "You have something urgent to do? Can we book for around 8 a.m. tomorrow?"
Lin Yuche said calmly, "The earliest class."
Even if your house is burgled, you wouldn't be this anxious. Looking at his cold eyes, the guest, unusually, didn't ask any more questions. After asking about his destination, he quickly booked a ticket for him for 4 a.m.
The guest returned his phone, saying, "But it's hard to get a taxi at this hour. It's quite troublesome to find someone to take you there, or you could tell the production team."
Lin Yuche stared at the ticketing interface on his phone: "I have a way."
The guest thought to himself, "Are you going to fly there?" but said aloud, "Oh, be careful at night. I'll leave you my phone number."
After giving his instructions in a few words, Lin Yuche set off on his journey with only a black windbreaker in his arms.
He was tall and slender, and walked in the dark like a demon of the night.
At 2:30 a.m., Lin Yuche arrived at the airport.
In the warm south, on a comfortable bed, Yun Chiyi was woken up an hour ago by a message from Li Aman.
"Lin Yuche has booked a flight back."
Yun Chiyi glanced at the arrival time; he had bought a connecting flight, and it would take eight hours to arrive.
Furthermore, Lin Yuche may not have come back specifically to keep an eye on her. If she has nothing to hide, why would she be afraid of a knock on her door in the middle of the night?
Unable to resist her drowsiness, she drifted off into a sweet dream once more.
At one o'clock the next day, Lin Yuche stood at her door, looking travel-worn.
Even through the door, he could hear her heartbeat so clearly.
Fresh, vibrant, and gentle as a mountain stream.
Lin Yuche felt that he had been too irritable lately, but because she was his destined partner, he could find some comfort in her.
For him, she must be a remedy that no other medicine can replace.
His gaze remained calmly fixed on the spot for about five minutes.
With a loud thud, a heavy object fell to the ground, and Yun Chiyi's muffled groan came from the living room.
The black mist enveloped Lin Yuche and pulled him inside the doorway. He stood in the entryway, his eyes quickly locking onto the unconscious person lying on the ground.
Yun Chiyi's long hair covered her face. She was wearing a thin nightgown and looked extremely vulnerable. She lay motionless on the cold floor.
“Yun Chiyi”.
There was no response.
Lin Yuche frowned, squatted down to help Yun Chiyi up, his taut fingers touched her neck, and just as he was about to brush away the long hair on her face, a pair of soft arms wrapped around the back of his neck and pulled his gaze down.
Her smooth, dark hair slid down her snow-white face, revealing her slyly smiling cherry lips and her bright, star-like eyes.
"Lin Yuche, what are you doing trespassing on private property?"
