Chapter 6: The Fake Heiress's Escape from Marriage - Black Velvet Halter Dress

Chapter 6: The Fake Heiress's Escape from Marriage - Black Velvet Halter Dress

A month and a half later, Yun Chiyi was choosing a dress in the store.

There's a charity auction tomorrow night, which will be the beginning of Wen Yan Yan's formal acquaintance with Gong Mu Feng.

Yun Chiyi was in the changing room, her black velvet halter dress pulled up halfway, revealing her particularly beautiful shoulder and neck lines, with smooth and soft flesh on her shoulders.

She reached out and tried for a long time, but couldn't reach the zipper. She pulled back the curtain and peeked out.

"Lin Jishen, help me unzip my jacket."

Lin Jishen sat on the sofa, holding his phone in one hand and looking at messages. He didn't look up when she called him.

Gong Mufeng asked him to accompany her to choose a dress, and she then ordered him to go into the dressing room to help.

Seeing that he remained motionless, Yun Chiyi chuckled coquettishly, "Are you afraid I'll eat you up?"

Lin Jishen put away his phone, walked over expressionlessly, parted the curtain with his long fingers, and turned her to face the wall. Her porcelain-white back was exposed in front of him. Her skin was very light in color, and the bones and blood vessels under her skin were faintly visible.

She is now like a masterpiece of sculpted art.

Feeling his burning gaze, her ears burned. She wanted to turn around, but he pressed her shoulder down again.

He was satisfied when she showed her weakness.

"The tactic of provocation comes at a price. Should we pull them up now, or pull them down?"

Yun Chiyi pretended not to hear the previous sentence: "Go up."

He pinched the metal zipper with his fingertips and smoothly pulled it up to the back of her neck. The skin on the back of her neck exuded a strong fragrance, unlike perfume. He didn't hold his breath and looked away.

Yun Chiyi turned around. The dress fit her perfectly, highlighting her full bust and slender waist. The diamond-shaped cutout design on the back, adorned with pearls, exuded a captivating allure amidst its restrained elegance. The decorative buttons along her thighs accentuated her beautiful legs.

She tilted her head slightly and looked at Lin Jishen: "Based on your understanding of Gong Mufeng, do you think he would like me dressed like this?"

She's trying to curry favor with Gong Mufeng again.

He drooped his eyes: "I don't know."

Yun Chiyi frowned in confusion, her lips pouting slightly: "Then how do I know if he likes me or not?"

She seemed to treat him as a substitute for Gong Mufeng, just as those people treated him as Gong Mufeng's errand boy; they never saw him as a person.

Lin Jishen's face instantly darkened: "Yun Chiyi, wear whatever you like. He likes necklines that go below his chest now, are you going to wear that too?"

Yun Chiyi lowered her eyes, contemplating the possibility, her raven-feather-like eyelashes fluttering.

That's enough.

He lowered his voice, his displeasure evident in his eyes: "Remember your current identity. You are the eldest daughter of the Yun family. Don't do anything that is inconsistent with your status. Do I have to remind you of such a simple principle several times?"

"Don't think I don't know you sold your jewelry just to make a small profit. So many eyes are watching you; they won't allow you to make the slightest mistake."

Yun Chiyi blinked her wet eyes: "I understand, I won't follow his taste in clothes anymore."

Lin Jishen said coldly, "Stop acting."

At the lunch meeting earlier that afternoon, she said she wanted to let Gong Mufeng try some light and refreshing flavors, but now she's pretending not to understand.

She then smiled faintly, "I won't ask him anymore, or do you like this dress?"

Lin Jishen looked down at her; she was composed, and the corners of her lips curved into a beautiful arc.

He didn't answer, but pulled back the curtain and went out. She had said before that his feelings weren't important.

When the waitress came over to refill the tea, she saw this scene and her eyes widened. She recognized them; they were Mr. Gong's friends and the couple who almost became his marriage partners.

How did he get out of her changing room...?

Yun Chiyi walked out in slippers and smoothed her hair in front of the mirror.

The shop assistant slapped his forehead: "We still have shoes, please wait a moment."

She pushed the shoe rack back, which was divided into three racks according to heel height. The shop assistant knelt down on one knee next to her and introduced the shoes: "These are all the latest fashion styles. The mid-heel shoes would also look great with this dress."

Lin Jishen glanced at it: "The middle pair."

The all-black design has no standout features; it's a classic design.

The sales assistant tried to promote the style with gold glitter next to her, but Yun Chiyi tried on the first pair. As soon as she put on the high heels, she was surprised.

"These shoes fit perfectly."

Lin Jishen looked down at his phone screen, the light flashing in his eyes, as if he hadn't heard her words.

The clerk understood the situation and said, "We'll pack it up for you in a bit."

The last time this young lady and Mr. Gong came, Mr. Gong picked out a pair of wedding shoes for her. He didn't realize that the shoes were too big, but she took his arm and forced a smile, saying that she liked them.

Less than two months have passed, yet the memories feel like a dream.

Lin Jishen spent the whole day shopping with Yun Chiyi. She picked out things for him to look at, and then swiped Gong Mufeng's card.

——

The charity auction on the second day was attended by mostly young people, who mainly contributed some money from their families to have fun and meet friends from similar backgrounds.

No one seemed to care about charity at all; they were still dressed in high-profile makeup and expensive gowns, and the extra charges were even made at the dinner table.

Yun Chiyi entered the venue with her hair up and wearing a black dress. After handing over her invitation, she was led to a front-row seat. Given the Yun family's status in the business world, she could only sit in the middle or back row. However, the organizers had to consider the Gong family's reputation, and since Mr. Lin had made arrangements beforehand, the organizers naturally wouldn't neglect her.

Each person had a small table, with Chinese tea and snacks at hand. She sat down without looking at the auction catalog, and simply picked up a piece of pastry and put it in her mouth.

Her gaze swept across the venue, quickly passing over the wealthy young men, and finally settling on the girl wearing white gloves by the door.

Wen Yanyan arrived.

A human wall descended, blocking Yun Chiyi's view. She looked at him with half a lotus flower cake in her mouth.

Lin Jishen sat down with the tea in hand. Her gaze passed over his broad shoulders and she could see Gong Mufeng sitting in the middle. Gong Mufeng was quickly flipping through the manual and showed impatience.

It seems this kind of activity was too boring for him.

Looking away, Yun Chiyi took a sip of tea: "He asked you to come and keep me company? Anyone who didn't know better would think I was your girlfriend."

Lin Jishen looked ahead and said softly, "Why do you want everything?"

She wanted both wealth and honor, as well as Gong Mufeng's attention and care.

She smiled, without a trace of anger: "Yes, I was greedy."

After she finished speaking, she crossed her legs and continued to eat the pastries on her plate in small bites. She did not participate in raising the price at all. On the other hand, Gong Mufeng was in a playful mood and took a lot of pictures.

After eating half of her snack, she wiped her hands and stood up, saying, "I need to go to the restroom."

Lin Jishen frowned as he looked at her; she was either eating or on her way to the toilet.

Yun Chiyi smiled in response, lifted her skirt and stood up, quietly asking the people around her to make room for her.

As she walked down the corridor, her pace gradually slowed.

"Miss, please wait a moment."

She turned around in response and saw Wen Yanyan walking over solemnly, holding a small box.

A gentle smile bloomed on her lips: "It's you again. What are you doing working here?"

The girl replied, "This is just my part-time job."

Wen Yanyan, dressed in a simple cheongsam with her work ID badge hanging on her chest, handed over a small gift box: "That day you accidentally dropped the ring into my bag, and I've been carrying it with me ever since, thinking that I might run into you someday."

Yun Chiyi frowned slightly: "A ring?"

Wen Yanyan opened the box, and the jade ring was carefully protected inside.

She suddenly realized, "Oh, it's it! I was wondering where I'd lost it."

When Wen Yanyan saw that she had also come to the auction, she kept looking for an opportunity to get close to her. Luckily, she came out to find the restroom. Wen Yanyan had run out and was now panting with a thin layer of sweat on her forehead.

Yun Chiyi opened her empty palm: "I'm sorry, I don't have anything to hold it right now. Could you please hold it for me?"

Wen Yanyan looked at her slender fingers: "Can't you wear it?"

Yun Chiyi looked down at her hands and quickly shook her head: "It doesn't match this outfit."

Wen Yan Yan: "..." Why is she always so strange?

Yun Chiyi smiled brightly, looked up and asked, "Did you bring your phone? Can I borrow it for a moment?"

Wen Yanyan opened her pocket, coldly handed over an old-fashioned cell phone, then immediately took it back to unlock it before handing it out again.

Her screensaver is a photo of her and her adoptive parents, the whole family smiling brightly.

Come to think of it, Yun Chiyi hasn't seen her smile once since they met.

Yun Chiyi silently entered her phone number: "Please keep the ring until the auction ends. Here's my phone number so you can contact me."

Wen Yanyan looked at her intently: "You must wait until I return it to you."

Yun Chiyi smiled and said, "Of course, this thing is very valuable. After I lost it, they yelled at me and kept blaming me, so I will definitely wait for you."

Her face was calm, the curve of her lips deepened, and she looked down at Wen Yan Yan's name tag: "My name is Yun Chi Yi, thank you Yan Yan."

Wen Yanyan knew that her surname was Yun, and she had also heard bits and pieces of her story about breaking off the engagement.

This girl seems completely unreliable.

Yun Chiyi maintained a kind smile until she turned her head, then suddenly her face lit up with joy, and a genuine smile graced her beautiful eyes.

Which is better, Wen Yanyan or Yun Yanyan?

"What do you want to do?" The system immediately perked up.

I need an ally.

She returned to the scene just in time for the last item.

Twenty years ago, the folk art paintings collected by the Lin family, a textile industry family, were donated and auctioned by the Gong family today. As soon as the items were put up, the young people in the room were excited.

The Lin family, which was once on par with the Gong family, has disappeared without a trace, leaving only this painting behind. The Gong family regards it as a trophy of victory and displays it openly to the younger generation.

The pastry touched her lips, but Yun Chiyi moved it away, her eyes subtly glancing at the man beside her.

His expression remained unchanged as he lowered his head and sipped his tea, as if the painting had nothing to do with him.

Yun Chiyi flicked the pastry crumbs off her fingertips, smiled sweetly, and raised her card, immediately betting double.

Lin Jishen gripped his teacup tightly, his face turning ashen as he watched her raise the price.

She did it on purpose.

She smiled confidently: "Tonight, just eating won't make me feel involved. I like this painting, but I don't have any money. Someone will pay for it for me in a little while."

She would match every bid increase, and in the end, the price far exceeded the value of the item itself.

The auctioneer asked again if anyone wanted to raise the price, and a male voice rang out in the tense atmosphere.

"Fifteen million."

The starting bid is just over one million.

Gong Mufeng fiddled with the number plate in his hand, a glint of excitement in his eyes. He had been watching when Yun Chiyi raised the price earlier. She didn't understand the meaning behind the painting; she simply liked it.

She clenched her fists nervously several times because someone else had overtaken her, her pink cheeks like ripe peaches, and her misty eyes blinking repeatedly.

Gong Mufeng just wanted to see her nervous look one more time.

With that final word, he looked across the crowd at Yun Chiyi, who was still in shock, and swung his arm with a carefree smile.

"I voluntarily transfer ownership of the painting to Ms. Yun."

She was stunned, tears welling up in her eyes. She bent her index finger to touch the tip of her nose, gave a shy smile, and looked back at him with deep affection.

Lin Jishen took another sip of tea in silence, a faint smile playing on his thin lips.
