Chapter 63 The Delinquent School Beauty Transfer Student 4 (Replacement) Pen...
On the first day of her senior year of high school, Yun Chiyi went to her homeroom teacher's office with an empty backpack.
Before she arrived, her homeroom teacher, Chen Xi, had already heard about her.
He was a troublemaker in his previous school, with poor grades and a penchant for forming cliques.
She had just moved to a nearby street when Chen Xi ran into her a few times. She was hanging out with a few good-for-nothing students all the time.
Ironically, this very person, through her father's connections, managed to get into the outstanding class led by Chen Xi.
Chen Xi diligently managed Class 2 of the Arts Department, and she was very strict with the students. Even the slightest disturbance would attract her attention.
Then, Yun Chiyi, like a balloon that was about to burst, was led to the podium by her.
Chen Xi pushed up his glasses and gave a sharp look as he swept his gaze over the whispering students below.
Suddenly, everyone fell silent, their faces, still bearing the innocence of childhood, yet revealing a maturity, staring at her.
Chen Xi slapped the table: "One minute for self-introduction. Don't waste your classmates' class time."
Yun Chiyi straightened up, not in a hurry to speak, her misty eyes scanning the classroom, finally finding that face in the second row on the left.
She then curved her lips into a smile, narrowing her eyes to reveal an innocent and harmless expression: "My name is Yun Chiyi."
A gasp went up in surprise. She was already pretty, and her high ponytail made her look youthful and radiant. Her smile made her even more beautiful, and her school uniform seemed tailor-made for her, fitting her perfectly and looking stunning.
Chen Xi urged, "You've finished the introductions, right? Let me see if there are any empty seats..."
As she spoke, Yun Chiyi strode down from the podium, dragging her schoolbag along the way, and slammed it onto the desk in the second row: "Aren't there seats here? I can't see clearly if I sit too far back, and it will affect my grades, so I'll sit here."
Chen Xi's lips twitched. She certainly knew how to pick her way, taking the empty seat next to the class monitor.
However, her class monitor is not someone that can be paired with just anyone; every time he applies to change his deskmate, it's for some inexplicable reason.
He would complain that his deskmate's writing was too loud and hurt his ears. If Chen Xi didn't care, he would stand at the office door as soon as get out of class ended and silently accuse his deskmate of touching his hair more than five times a class.
Once, his eyes were bloodshot for several days in a row. He told Chen Xi that his deskmate grinded his teeth during class, which made it difficult for him to sleep at night.
Chen Xi sometimes thought he was being unreasonable. Who would make so much noise during class? But apart from that, the class monitor was good in every way. He was quiet and didn't talk much. He had excellent grades and didn't have any particular weakness in any subject. He was handsome and didn't have any early romantic relationships. So Chen Xi turned a blind eye to his quirks and often arranged new deskmates for him.
When he stood by the office doorway and calmly remarked that his deskmate's shower gel smelled pungent, Chen Xi subtly inquired and discovered that the other person was using the same brand as her. Chen Xi sighed and decided to let him sit alone, so that no one would bother him.
Now, seeing that all the other students were looking at Yun Chiyi, Lin Hengzhi also raised his head.
Yun Chiyi sat down and said, "Silence means agreement."
Chen Xi looked at Lin Hengzhi with a hint of expectation, her eyes seeming to say, "Hurry up and refuse, hurry up and show us your fault-finding skills."
However, Lin Hengzhi averted his gaze, lowered his eyes, and picked up his pen.
Chen Xi and his classmates were greatly disappointed and sighed inwardly.
Chen Xi opened his book and began his lecture, his mind already racing with countless thoughts.
On the first day of school, Yun Chiyi entered the classroom with an empty schoolbag, meaning she didn't even have a pen.
She casually extended her hand to Lin Hengzhi: "Lend me a pen."
Lin Hengzhi stared at the book: "You don't have a notebook either, what's the point of having a pen?"
Yun Chiyi smiled brightly: "That's perfect. Can you lend me another notebook? A new one, blank, not lined."
She beckoned with her fingertip, not at all reserved: "Classmates should help each other out. Besides, we're neighbors. You won't mind if I'm too noisy, will you? I won't give up until you lend it to me."
Yun Chiyi was deliberately trying to provoke him and annoy him.
Lin Hengzhi took out a notebook and an unopened black fountain pen from under his desk, then took out an ink bottle and gave it to Yun Chiyi: "Remember to return it."
Yun Chiyi looked at the notebook on the right side of the desk, and the fountain pen and ink bottle in front of her, and fell silent for a moment.
Why did you agree?
She rarely uses fountain pens, especially old-fashioned ones. Suddenly, she found something interesting and focused intently on unscrewing the cap and drawing ink with the pen. After that, she remained quiet and made no unnecessary movements.
Throughout the entire class, she would dab and spit out ink, repeating this process endlessly, seemingly enjoying it immensely.
In the following classes, she either turned her head to watch Lin Hengzhi write or drew on her notebook with a pen.
But most of the time he was looking at Lin Hengzhi.
How could he look like this? His hair was a natural black without any dyeing, his skin was a cool white, and his eyebrows were quite prominent, which seemed a bit incongruous with his soft eyes, but at first glance, he was a handsome man who was just the right balance between being handsome and aloof.
Lin Hengzhi has a habit of pursing his lips, especially when the surrounding sounds change; even his nose will wrinkle slightly.
He was unhappy and uncomfortable, but he seemed to be very good at enduring it.
Yun Chiyi fell asleep during math class while looking at the pictures. Her arm, which was resting on the desk, was stained with ink, making it look like a birthmark.
It's like an indelible dark brand.
Before get out of class ended, Yun Chiyi woke up to the fierce look in her math teacher's eyes.
When the other students in the class saw that she had finally woken up, they couldn't wait to gather around her from all sides and make friends with her.
Yun Chiyi is indeed a poor student, but she has one major advantage, which is both shallow and obvious: she is beautiful and has a mature air about her, like a half-ripe fruit exuding fragrance.
She didn't notice and continued sleeping.
When she woke up, she just wanted to ask Lin Hengzhi what he wanted to eat later, but the next second someone quietly grabbed her neck.
"You've got marks on your face from sleeping so much, and this is what you mean by studying hard?"
Wang Jiajia's voice was still cheerful. She didn't wear a school uniform at school and had recently dyed her hair, making her an oddball here.
Yun Chiyi yawned.
Wang Jiajia leaned close to her ear and said, "Let's walk home together after school. I'll take you somewhere to play."
She stepped across Lin Hengzhi's seat, only to be pushed aside by the latter with a book. Only then did Wang Jiajia see the cold expression on Yun Chiyi's deskmate's face. Her eyebrows twitched immediately, and she asked without regard for the occasion, "Why did the teacher assign you to this seat? Is it because you don't know the situation?"
Lin Hengzhi didn't react to her words at all, his indifference was as if he had no life force.
Yun Chi recalled what Wang Jiajia had said before: Lin Hengzhi was a tough guy who could bring bad luck to everyone, and getting close to him would not lead to anything good.
How could Yun Chiyi not know? The original owner died because of him.
Yun Chiyi tugged at Wang Jiajia, telling her to shut up: "I sat here on my own initiative. It's not for any particular reason. I just thought he was good-looking. He doesn't even want me sitting next to him."
Lin Hengzhi didn't shy away from it, looking up at the two chatting. His eyes were dark and deep, like black holes.
Wang Jiajia was speechless under his gaze, turned her face away, and felt a little guilty.
Yun Chiyi took Wang Jiajia to lunch. As soon as they left the classroom, the students who hadn't left started talking amongst themselves.
"She knows that person, and they seem to be quite close."
"Why hang out with a tough girl? Is she trying to learn bad habits?"
"I thought she was just unhappy because it was her first day at the new school and she wasn't used to it. I wanted to befriend her and help her get to know the school, but I didn't expect her to like hanging out with the troublesome girl."
"Being pretty means being restless."
They didn't bother to hide their conversation and just stood by the aisle talking. Lin Hengzhi found it noisy and covered his ears with one hand. The wind blowing by the window blew his hair and swept past his eyes, making his eyes seem dim and unclear.
He lowered his eyes and saw the notebook Yun Chiyi had left on the table. She had scribbled all over it, drawing a seaside, a bus stop, a metal bench for waiting for the bus, and a dark figure with a pen.
Lin Hengzhi recognized that Yun Chiyi had painted him.
So this is how silent he was in Yun Chiyi's eyes. The lush hills behind him had disappeared, and the tinkling waterways were nowhere to be seen. Only he was sitting on the bench with his head down, waiting for something.
He and she were actually observing each other.
Yun Chiyi had no idea that a simple, casual drawing had made Lin Hengzhi think about so many things. She and Wang Jiajia had lunch in the cafeteria and took a walk on the playground. Wang Jiajia even led her to the second-year high school floor to show off, as if afraid that others wouldn't know how dazzling her friend was.
With only ten minutes left in the lunch break, the exhibit finally got tired and lay down until the end of history class.
The last period was a weekly PE class, which was no fun because it was so tiring. Halfway through, Yun Chiyi returned to the classroom to slip away, without even taking the test paper from her desk.
She told the vice class monitor that she had a stomachache, and then went home with her empty schoolbag.
Seeing that she was pale and her hands and feet were twitching, and that she was in real pain, the deputy squad leader had no choice but to let her go first and come back to submit a leave slip.
As soon as Yun Chiyi stepped out of the school gate, she skipped and hopped along the curb, when suddenly a person appeared out of nowhere, causing Yun Chiyi to stop in her tracks instantly.
Wang Jiajia vigorously patted the dust off her hands, smearing it all over her pants.
She excitedly told Yun Chiyi, "A new arcade just opened in the mall, with lots of new attractions. For the first three days, recharge 50 yuan and get 30 yuan free!"
Yun Chiyi nodded: "Oh, that sounds pretty exciting."
Carrying her schoolbag, she didn't bother with any more beating around the bush and said directly, "I skipped class to come here. If you say I'll go with you, promise me one thing."
"If it's something I can do, why would I be stingy? Just tell me."
Yun Chiyi asked, "How much do you know about Lin Hengzhi?"
Wang Jiajia blurted out, "I even know which bookstore he likes."
Yun Chiyi curled her lip. It was just that old bookstore next to the breakfast shop, the most convenient place to find secondhand books. There were also many different kinds of succulents growing at the entrance of the bookstore.
Wang Jiajia realized what was happening and asked, "Why are you asking him?"
Yun Chiyi coughed lightly, then covered her face shyly: "He's so handsome, I want to know more about him."
Wang Jiajia: "Are you joking, or are you really not afraid of death?"
Yun Chiyi said, "Just kidding. He's acting all mysterious. I'm just curious."
Wang Jiajia patted her shoulder: "Okay, I don't know much either, I'll go and find out for you."
Yun Chiyi put a finger to her lips: "Don't let him find out."
