Chapter 73 The Delinquent School Beauty Transfer Student 14 The Haunted House

Speaking of which, today is Lin Hengzhi's new book signing day, and it's only a five-minute walk from the small building where they played in the haunted house.

The system told Yun Chiyi that, according to the time, Lin Hengzhi had also finished work.

So, as Lin Hengzhi mysteriously removed his mask, changed his clothes, and walked out the back door, Yun Chiyi, chewing on a lollipop, inadvertently passed by.

As the other person stopped in surprise and looked at her back, she peeked out from around the corner, her eyes sparkling as she stared at Lin Hengzhi: "Teacher Lin, it really is you! What are you doing here?"

Lin Hengzhi was unable to answer for a moment.

Yun Chiyi pressed closer, curiously standing on tiptoe to examine her surroundings: "Is this what you meant by 'something's up'? What's fun about it?"

Lin Hengzhi stared at her without blinking, and saw her smiling broadly as she looked at the poster across the street. In an instant, her eyes filled with surprise: "A book signing! It's my favorite author's book signing!"

The more excited she became, the less Lin Hengzhi's gaze could settle down.

Yun Chiyi grabbed his arm and shook it happily: "Come with me to see, I've never met the author in person."

Lin Hengzhi shook off her hand and said in a calm tone, "It seems to be over. There's no point in going back now."

He then pulled her wrist and walked in the opposite direction: "Didn't you say you were going to hang out with your friends? Why are you here alone?"

Yun Chiyi smiled and said, "I was just about to go find them. Since you're done with your work, why don't you come and have some fun together?"

Seeing his hesitation, Yun Chiyi enthusiastically led her money tree downstairs and kindly advised, "We are still young and want to experience new things. Don't listen to others who say that haunted houses are scary. Actually, it's all people playing roles. Everyone is just looking for an atmosphere."

Lin Hengzhi remained silent, his eyes calm, letting her do as she pleased.

Yun Chiyi, worried that Wang Jiajia and the others had been waiting too long, went inside first. Her soft lips curved into a smile, but then she frowned and asked Lin Hengzhi with concern, "Are you scared too? Don't you want to play?"

It just so happens that Wang Jiajia doesn't like Lin Hengzhi either, so Yun Chiyi is just putting on an act.

She said with great regret, "Fine, I won't force you. Just lend me twenty yuan, and I won't bother you anymore."

Lin Hengzhi, however, said, "I didn't say I wouldn't go."

Yun Chiyi was surprised: "What? You're going?"

Lin Hengzhi looked over indifferently: "This isn't a sign that you want me to go."

Yun Chiyi coughed lightly twice as if nothing had happened, and said with a slight smile, "No, not at all. I'm already a little late, and they'll definitely be unhappy if I go empty-handed. Let's buy some soda and potato chips to take with us." She also had to appease Wang Jiajia and Xin Xiaoya.

Lin Hengzhi countered with a question: "Do you have money?"

Yun Chiyi gave a forced smile, showing a lack of backbone: "You can buy some, okay?"

She walked ahead, gesturing wildly, and kept muttering, "I only have a few dollars in six pockets, pieced together from all that. This kind of frugal life really chills my heart."

At the agreed time with Wang Jiajia, Yun Chiyi led Lin Hengzhi back.

When Wang Jiajia saw Lin Hengzhi, she craned her neck to look at him, her eyes full of disbelief. Without holding back, she asked, "Why did you bring him here?"

Yun Chiyi chuckled dryly twice: "What a coincidence, he wants to play too."

As soon as she finished speaking, she immediately covered Wang Jiajia's mouth, afraid that the matter would be exposed, and whispered, "He has money on him, this is a last resort. Don't say anything, just leave him in the back after we go in."

Wang Jiajia almost couldn't breathe and pushed Yun Chiyi away: "Anything is fine."

Lin Hengzhi handed the soda and potato chips to Wang Jiajia: "Make sure there are enough people to go in, then everyone can go their own way."

Without saying much, Yun Chiyi rubbed her hands together, paid the money, and eagerly lifted the curtain.

The room was filled with eerie sounds and the lights flickered. The interior was decorated like a simulated abandoned hospital. Yun Chiyi didn't think about anything else, only about immersing herself in the experience. She took the lead and walked in, holding onto the wall.

As soon as she took a step, Wang Jiajia pushed her from behind, startling Yun Chiyi so much that the hairs on her body stood on end.

She turned her head fiercely: "Wang Jiajia! You're finished, you just wait!"

Wang Jiajia said with a grin, "We agreed before that we could scare each other. Now I'll let you practice your courage first, so be careful."

Wang Jiajia walked triumphantly in the middle, dragging the trembling Xin Xiaoya along, while Lin Hengzhi strolled slowly at the back, lagging far behind.

He came in to fill in the gaps in the scenes of the novel he was conceiving; in other words, he was gathering material.

Yun Chiyi wandered through the "abandoned corridor," lifting her skirt to avoid getting it dirty with the red paint on the wall. Suddenly, a prop fell from above, startling her. Almost simultaneously, Wang Jiajia screamed behind her, clearly terrified as well.

"Aaaaaah! Yun Chiyi! Something floated past you from behind!"

Wang Jiajia still managed to scare people.

"Yun Chiyi! Help!!! Someone's talking! Can't you hear me???"

Who came from speaking? Yun Chiyi deliberately ignored them and pushed open a broken glass door. It was an operating room. The realistic props in the room and the occasional scene scripts flashing on the walls tempted Yun Chiyi to play.

A few fluorescent lines on the wall serve as a warning: Beware of the woman in white loitering at midnight.

Yun Chiyi looked down at her white dress and thought to herself, "Heaven is on my side! I must scare Wang Jiajia into a panic."

Suppressing her fear, she quickly hid behind the cabinet, waiting for Wang Jiajia to pass by.

However, five seconds passed without a trace, and a minute passed, but there was still no movement.

The place was only this big, and now it's all gone.

Yun Chiyi felt a little puzzled and squeezed out of the gap to see what was going on. Suddenly, a white shadow flashed in front of her. She was so frightened that she lost her footing and stumbled into a wall of people.

The red and blue lights in the room shone on her face. She looked up and saw Lin Hengzhi's calm face, his eyes carrying a hint of coldness and ruthlessness.

She instantly lost all strength and clung to Lin Hengzhi, refusing to let go.

"Why did you suddenly appear? You scared me to death."

"Where are Wang Jiajia and the others? Why did you come in first?"

Lin Hengzhi supported her falling body and replied, "There's a fork in the road over there. She and her other friend must have taken the wrong turn."

"Wang Jiajia? Can you hear me?"

They must be in the next room. The soundproofing in that room was terrible, and I immediately heard Wang Jiajia reply, "What's going on? Where are you? This is the archives room, there's just a blackboard and a combination lock. They want me to solve a math problem? Are you crazy? I don't know how to do that! I'm going to go out and beat up the boss! Xin Xiaoya, you, you, you... stop hiding in the corner, come and look at the problem!"

That means we've entered the secret room. Looks like there's nothing to worry about.

Yun Chiyi realized her hands were trembling violently, and even after taking deep breaths for a while, the trembling didn't improve. She looked at Lin Hengzhi suspiciously and discovered that the person trembling was actually him...

"Lin Hengzhi?"

Lin Hengzhi pressed one hand against his ear: "Did you hear anything?"

Yun Chiyi subconsciously moved closer, looking around warily. Apart from the occasional wailing music, she didn't hear any other unusual sounds.

"Don't scare me."

Under the blue light, Lin Hengzhi's face appeared particularly pale, while in the red light, he looked as if he were being roasted over a fire, his expression somewhat dazed, his eyes involuntarily drifting towards the operating table in the room.

Yun Chiyi suddenly realized that he was not in a good state, and hurriedly pinched his earlobes: "Don't look around, look at me. If I had known you were so timid, I wouldn't have let you in."

Lin Hengzhi couldn't hear what she was saying, and shook his heavy head.

He heard someone calling him softly, telling him to focus on the exam and not to get distracted.

He suddenly remembered that when he rushed out of the school gate, she had already been put into an ambulance. He held her hand, and she vaguely told him not to be distracted during the exam.

The ambulance sped away, leaving Lin Hengzhi standing blankly at the intersection. He looked up at the sky, the rain washing over his eyes, a stinging pain spreading throughout his body like needles.

Then he looked down at the bloodstains washed away by the mud and water next to the telephone pole.

He didn't see with his own eyes how she was hit and thrown into the air, but the broken trash can seemed to be replaying the scene in his mind.

"Lin Hengzhi, stop spacing out! Hey, can you hear me?"

"Why are you acting silly..."

Lin Hengzhi stared blankly at the operating table. The last time he saw her was through the heavy iron door. Several times in the middle of the night, he dreamed of her standing outside.

My mother's voice filled my ears the whole time.

Reality and dreams are mixed together, forming a distorted picture.

Lin Hengzhi was dazed, so much so that it felt like more than ten years had passed, until two warm sensations pressed against his ears, gradually shutting out the noise. With a hint of confusion, he slowly opened his eyes.

Yun Chiyi, who was right in front of him, gave him a relieved smile. Her appearance gradually became clearer until the red mole on her eyelid came to life in his eyes.

She covered his ears even tighter with her hands. He could read a little bit of her lips. She steadied her breathing and whispered, "What are you afraid of? It's all fake."

Lin Hengzhi remained in a daze for half a minute. He reached out and pulled Yun Chiyi into his arms, his head sinking into hers, his forehead resting against her shoulder, breathing in her warm fragrance.

Yun Chiyi felt the damp heat on her shoulder, and her body tensed up unconsciously. For a moment, she didn't know how to react.

In her mind, Lin Hengzhi was a block of ice, cold, cunning, and someone who wouldn't cry when he was born.

But now, he helplessly embraced her body.

Yun Chiyi blinked. Now that he was awake, keeping quiet might make him feel better.

She lowered her long eyelashes, but the sharp sound of brakes suddenly rang in her mind.

It came, and the original owner's resistance controlled her body.

Yun Chiyi felt nauseous from the stinging pain in her temples and instinctively tried to push Lin Hengzhi away. She pushed him, but Lin Hengzhi didn't budge. When she struggled again, Lin Hengzhi tightened his grip, and she could hear him gritting his teeth.

Yun Chi was furious: "Are you trying to strangle me? Let go of me!"

Lin Hengzhi raised his eyes, his gaze red, and said with a hint of dissatisfaction, "Are you afraid of me again? Why?"

Yun Chiyi pressed her head, but couldn't escape from his embrace. Now she was the one who was suffering. She spoke intermittently, "This is inexplicable. Let go of me!"

Lin Hengzhi grabbed her wrist, forcing her to look at him: "Yun Chiyi, I'm asking you something."

Yun Chiyi: "I didn't understand!"

She felt dizzy and started gagging: "If you don't let go, I'll throw up on you."

After saying that, she turned her head and vomited with a "whoosh".
