Chapter 9 After the Fake Heiress Ran Away from Her Wedding, 9 Little Black Dog
The truth will out; you can't hide it forever.
The next day, when Yun Chiyi went to find Lin Jishen, she found that he was in a bad mood again.
She put down her bag, sat down in the seat opposite her, picked up the menu, flipped through a couple of pages, and then put it down again.
Lin Jishen drank his water: "Aren't you going to order any food?"
She looked haggard, with red-rimmed eyes, and said listlessly, "I can't eat much. I haven't had an appetite since I woke up this morning."
Lin Jishen's lips curled into a sneer. Ever since he discovered that she dared to openly bring Wen Yanyan back to the Yun family, he had been paying even closer attention to her every move, even knowing exactly what she ate for breakfast.
After a two-second pause, she looked at him with worried eyes: "What should I do? Have I done something wrong?"
They're putting on an act again.
He picked up the menu and casually ordered a few dishes, without saying a word to Yun Chiyi while waiting for the food to be served.
She was anxious and restless, her hands clenched red under the table, tears hanging on her lower eyelashes, unable to fall, her fragile appearance was pitiful to see.
They're still acting.
Lin Jishen restrained his expression, trying his best to calm down: "Why don't you eat something?"
Yun Chiyi blinked, and pearl-like tears fell onto the back of her hand. Her lips were pale and trembled slightly, like a trembling rose.
He had seen this expression on this face before, but never with such dramatic intensity.
"Stop acting, let's eat."
She looked up, flattered, and said, "I'm not hungry."
He remained silent, the veins bulging on his hand holding the chopsticks, as he picked up two pieces of vegetables from the bowl.
She stared at his hands, then pouted, "Why did you only order vegetables?"
The table was filled with vegetarian dishes; she didn't like radishes or cabbage at all.
Lin Jishen suppressed his anger and said, "Didn't you say you couldn't eat?"
She chewed her chopsticks listlessly: "You told me to eat first."
So he ordered a stir-fried pork dish and a dry-mixed beef dish, which made the table look much more appealing compared to the monotonous vegetarian dishes.
Yun Chiyi didn't bring up the important matter and quietly ate her meal.
When the tea was served, she looked calmly at the floating tea leaves and said, "Lin Jishen, should we grow tea in the future?"
Someone was wiping his hands and then decided to send her a plane ticket right now, as far away as possible, so as not to bother her in front of him.
Lin Jishen has always disliked things he couldn't control, and this was his last act of mercy.
As for his partner, he chose a different one.
However, upon suddenly hearing those words, the light in his eyes flickered for a moment.
Yun Chiyi shook her teacup: "Tea trees can be very profitable if you cultivate them well. You need to find a place with good soil and then lease a whole mountain of tea trees."
She seemed to be envisioning the future, her crescent-shaped eyes brimming with tears: "There's also the possibility that someone will steal the tea leaves, so I'll also need to raise a big black dog."
She looked at me and asked seriously, "Do you prefer a white dog or a black dog, or maybe you want both?"
Lin Jishen lowered his eyes and did not answer. He was about to light a cigarette when she stopped him. His clear black and white eyes were full of hostility: "Take your hand away."
Yun Chiyi said in a flat tone: "It's not good for your health."
He gripped the corner of the table, burying his head in his arms and laughing for a long time. Then he slowly raised his head, his gaze as sharp as a wolf's alpha.
"Yun Chiyi, you're not trying to persuade me to give up, are you?"
Yun Chiyi said, "If it's a stumbling block, we can just remove it."
Lin Jishen countered, "No, let me think about it. What would you care about?"
He slowly sat up straight, crushed the cigarette, and let the crumbs fall into the smoky tea.
Do you remember that you have an older brother?
Yun Chiyi has an older brother who suffers from chronic illnesses and is always barely clinging to life.
She didn't see him often, and her parents spent all of her dowry that they had saved up to pay for his medical treatment.
She has always been surnamed Yun, but the two Yun families are completely different.
Originally, she could have married a love-struck small business owner, but her parents kept asking him for money, and in less than three months, the young CEO gave up.
Her wedding fell through, but she still had some money left over, so she went to a resort to relax.
Later, due to greed, he was drawn into Lin Jishen's conspiracy.
Her brother rarely spoke up for her, and it's unknown how he felt about receiving the forged death notice from Lin Jishen.
After a long silence, Yun Chiyi finally spoke, "I'm not familiar with him."
"Really? He personally drove to the resort to pick up your ashes."
Lin Jishen took a new cup and poured tea: "After all, we are blood relatives. If something really happens to him, you would be heartbroken."
He smiled, looking to be in a very good mood.
The tea in the cup had gone cold when Yun Chiyi finally confessed, "Yes, I knew Wen Yanyan's identity from the beginning. Later, I deliberately approached her and even brought her into the Yun family to meet Yun Jingui."
Lin Jishen looked at her coldly.
She spoke sincerely: "I am your accomplice, and I cannot reveal my identity to her. I did these things to leave myself a way out."
As she began to speak, her emotions gradually intensified: "I don't want to go back to living a life where I'm at the mercy of others. Why should my fate be controlled by others?"
Lin Jishen moved his lips: "What kind of backup plan?"
She replied, "I never intended to stop you, please understand that. Whether things succeed or fail, I will find a way to have her protect me, but before that, I need her to become the head of the Yun family."
"Yun Chiyi, you change your excuse every single day."
He found it amusing, and smiled as he drank half a cup of tea: "You think I'm easy to fool? Why should I believe you?"
"I was afraid of you."
Lin Jishen glanced over coolly.
In the tense moment, she reached out and touched his forehead to confirm that his temperature was normal and that he should be able to communicate rationally.
"From now on, you know everything. My escape route has been arranged. We can talk again."
“You don’t trust me,” Lin Jishen simply said.
She nodded vigorously; he actually had to bring up such a blatant fact again.
He sneered, "You don't trust me? You just said you'd raise dogs and grow tea trees in the future."
This was written on a whim, as I felt at the moment.
But Yun Chiyi dared not deceive him any longer, and held his wrists with both hands to assure him: "Once we both let go of our suspicions, all of this will come true."
He flipped his wrist, pinning her hand to the table: "I don't like dogs."
Before Yun Chiyi could even decide what pet to get for him, he casually paid the bill.
She followed closely behind, relentlessly pressing him: "Why don't you like dogs? Dogs wag their tails when they're happy, aren't they cute?"
He brushed away her arm as she leaned in: "Just because someone can fawn over you doesn't mean they're lovable."
She suddenly had a whimsical idea: "Animal sculptures are very popular lately. If I were a dog, what breed would I be? I think you are a Samoyed, especially when you smile."
When told he looked like a dog, Lin Jishen suddenly stopped in his tracks. Half of her body bumped into his back, and he instinctively pulled her close as she slid forward.
Her body was soft and smelled wonderful.
Lin Jishen turned his head and saw Yun Chiyi smiling at him, her forehead red from the bump. Her eyes were curved like crescent moons.
Before Lin Jishen could speak, her eyes suddenly lit up. There was a small black dog under a willow tree a few steps away. She immediately let go of Lin Jishen's hand, squatted down under the willow tree by the river, and reached out her snow-white fingers to touch the dog's head.
"What an adorable dog!"
Lin Jishen slowly walked over. He wondered if Yun Chiyi had a bad memory. Just a moment ago at the dinner table, she looked pitiful and on the verge of tears, but now she was as radiant as shimmering waves.
The puppy's belly was round and plump. After eating its fill, it was sunbathing here. Yun Chiyi was focused on playing with the puppy. The little black dog lay on the ground, neither resisting her petting nor feeling affection for it. Suddenly, her movements slowed down.
"Lin Jishen, look at its eyes, they look just like yours."
Lin Jishen was taken aback: "What did you say?"
Yun Chiyi smiled: "It's exactly the same now."
She stood up and moved closer to Lin Jishen, her index finger slightly bent as she gently pointed to the corner of his eye: "Look, the corners of your eyes are all red, and you don't have a smile on your face at all."
Lin Jishen grabbed her wrist: "You just petted a dog."
Yun Chiyi stood on tiptoe, sniffed her hands, and said, "It smells like a puppy. You can smell it if you don't believe me!"
She suddenly started bothering Lin Jishen again, or whispering her name: "Yun Chiyi!"
The street was deserted, but there were still passersby.
Several people were looking over; the handsome men and beautiful women were probably flirting.
However, Yun Chiyi frowned, her gaze passing through the scattered willow branches to the thin boy, who was staring at them in astonishment.
"My adopted younger brother."
Upon hearing this, Lin Jishen pulled her back from the shore and followed her gaze.
Yun Chiyi nervously gripped his clothes: "He must think we're having an affair."
Lin Jishen pursed his lips: "Let go."
A group of young people followed behind Gu Chi. These people had brightly colored hair and their trouser legs were uneven. When they bumped into Yun Chiyi, Gu Chi's eyes panicked, and he tried to hide his shadow.
He was avoiding her.
"No wonder he decorated the car like that; it turns out he had some expert advice."
Yun Chiyi's eyes flickered, and she straightened up to pat Lin Jishen's arm: "Go back by yourself, I have something to do."
As a result, Lin Jishen grabbed her collar: "Trying to be sneaky again."
Yun Chiyi shook her head: "I feel like Gu Chi is hiding something from his family. I love catching people doing something wrong."
Finally, the two people crossed the bridge to the other side and followed them from a distance of about ten meters.
Someone turned around, and the two awkwardly pretended to be a tourist couple. Yun Chiyi asked Lin Jishen to take a picture of her.
She smiled brightly, her delicate hands holding the tender willow branches, while Lin Jishen pressed the shutter.
They watched as Gu Chi was shoved into a card and mahjong room. Gu Chi covered his head with his hands, and his shoulder hit the door. He was in pain and didn't dare to say a word.
Yun Chiyi walked downstairs to the chess and card room and looked up at it: "Lin Jishen, can you fight?"
Lin Jishen, with his hands in his pockets, said coldly, "No."
She rolled up her sleeves helplessly: "Luckily, I know a little bit. Today, I'll do a good deed for the people."
She took off all her valuable jewelry and put it into Lin Jishen's pocket. He stared at her, feeling that she was taking advantage of him.
"Here you go." He took off his coat and covered her head with it.
She nodded obediently, her beautiful eyes watching Lin Jishen unbutton his cuffs. He slowly rolled them up, revealing his well-defined forearms.
At this moment, she reached into her coat pocket and only found the jewelry she had put in there, without any other information.
"Host is so cunning, I love it!" the system exclaimed infatuation.
Yun Chiyi hooked her arm around Lin Jishen's, acting intimately: "Let's go see Gu Chi's reaction first."
They went upstairs together, and Yun Chiyi curiously took photos with her phone, treating the place as a popular spot for taking photos.
Five people were sitting at the table, drinking tea, eating melon seeds, playing cards, and smoking. Yun Chiyi's phone inadvertently flashed across their screen.
Gu Chi huddled in the corner. As soon as she came in, he immediately held his breath and didn't dare to breathe, burying his head to avoid being caught on the phone's light.
The man who led the group here had a cigarette in his mouth. He casually tossed out a card, glanced at Yun Chiyi, and then kicked Gu Chi in the calf: "Hey, why does she look a little familiar to me?"
Gu Chi stammered, "Ah...I...I don't know..."
The young man with the buzz cut was startled: "Is this your sister?"
At the same time, Yun Chiyi came to this table with Lin Jishen and said in surprise, "Oh my, Xiao Chi, what a coincidence!"
She reached out and grabbed Gu Chi's shoulder, her clear eyes showing concern: "If Dad finds out you're not going to your piano lesson and are playing cards with your friends here, he'll be angry, won't he?"
Gu Chi's face turned deathly pale, and he felt a chill run through his entire body: "That's not how it is..."
The young man tried to get closer to him: "He wants to play, so we brought him here. I liked to play when I was his age too."
Yun Chiyi looked over, her alluring eyes filled with ill intent: "I don't believe it. You're bullying our Xiaochi."
Lin Jishen sat down, took the cards from the young man, glanced at them, and sneered: "Cheating."
