Chapter 13 I Became a Zerg 13
Human Federation Supreme Military Council Hall
A holographic image of the hive hovered in the center of the round table, its dark crystal surface glowing ominously.
"Blow it up!" Third Fleet Commander Horn slammed his fist on the table, knocking over his coffee cup. "While it's dormant, we'll destroy it once and for all!"
"Do you think the Zerg Mimics are just for show?" Logistics Chief Lisa sneered. "They've surrounded the Hive like a barrel with their fleet, and you're planning to blow up the Zerg as well? The only requirement for humans and Mimics to cooperate in stopping the Hive is that humans absolutely cannot destroy it."
As the noise of the argument almost blew the roof off, He Fei unbuttoned the top button of his military uniform.
This action caused the conference room to fall into silence instantly.
The moment He Fei unbuttoned the top button of his military uniform, the blast-proof door of the parliament hall slammed shut, and the sound of the hydraulic lock was like the guillotine's blade falling.
The secret compartment in the ceiling slid open, and thirty black-armored special forces soldiers pointed their guns downwards at the same time. The red laser dot instantly locked onto the seven radical officers led by General Horn.
"In accordance with Section 3 of the Wartime Emergency Control Act," He Fei's voice was as cold as ice as he took the gilded decree from his adjutant, "special control is now imposed on members of the Military Commission suspected of endangering federal security."
Horn's coffee cup exploded on the floor, splashing brown liquid onto his shaking combat boots.
Laser projections spread the newly revised Federal Military Control Regulations on the wall:
Any military action against the Hive without the approval of the High Command is considered treason.
From now on, any insulting remarks made by the military about mimics will be directly brought to court-martial.
The Seventh Fleet was taken over by the Marshal's direct command
"This isn't a discussion." He Fei stepped on Horn's hand as it reached for its pistol. The sound of his boots crushing his wrist bones was especially clear in the dead silence of the conference room. "This is an order."
"Do we humans still want to raise our guns on the Zerg Mimics, just after we collaborated with them to control the hive a hundred years ago? Do we want to kill off even one in ten humans?"
Three hours later, a holographic announcement from the Federal Military Tribunal swept across the Starnet:
[General Horn and nine other senior officers were dismissed for disobeying military orders]
[The Seventh Fleet will be directly under the Central Command from now on]
[From now on, the Marshal's absolute decision-making power over military operations will be restored]
Late at night in the Marshal's office, He Fei stood by the French window, overlooking the lights of the federal capital. His adjutant handed him a coded document: "All core members of the radical faction have been controlled, including their forces on the colonies."
He Fei's black pupils reflected the starlight outside the window: "Is there anyone resisting?"
"The Third Fleet attempted a mutiny," the adjutant's voice was calm, "but it was suppressed by the Iron Guard special forces, resulting in no civilian casualties."
He Fei nodded, tapping the windowpane with his fingertips. "Pass the order down. Before sunrise tomorrow, I want to see the new regulations posted at all military bases."
The next morning, brand new "Military Control Regulations" were posted on the gates of all federal military facilities.
In the square of the Federal Army Headquarters, soldiers stood in formation, listening to the Marshal's voice coming from the radio:
"From today on, any attack on the Hive will be considered an act of undermining the stability of the Federation and will be severely punished and brought to court-martial." He Fei's voice spread through the holographic image, "This is not dictatorship, this is responsibility."
In the corner of the square, several officers exchanged glances, but no one dared to object.
In the council hall, He Fei sat alone at the end of the long table, playing with a matte military badge in his hand.
The adjutant asked softly: "Marshal, what's next..."
"Continue monitoring," He Fei placed the military emblem on the table. "The Federation doesn't need another Horn. We need peace."
Outside the window, the first ray of sunlight at dawn penetrated the clouds and shone on He Fei's cold profile.
He Fei looked at Jia Jia's flamboyant fighting and smiled silently. Jia Jia didn't need to work so hard in this life. She should just live happily every day.

Zhang Xiaojia watched the holographic news and knew what He Fei was doing.
The news pointed out He Fei's iron-blooded policy. This time, in order to maintain a cooperative relationship with the Zerg, the Federation began to open up planets for immigration and sell resources.
The Zerg also opened up their own shells and crystals.
Zhang Xiaojia sat in the restaurant, nibbling on a patch with a cold feeling all over her body. She was really useless. She had seen both Tang Han and He Fei take action, and she had simulated it. If she followed them, she would be a drag.
This time, the success rate of her father and He Fei's action on the simulator was only one in a thousand. God bless them, they succeeded, otherwise she would have lost two important people.
When the human trainee rubbed his sleepy eyes and pushed open the cabin door, the entire training ground was already filled with the sound of high-frequency bone blades breaking through the air.
Zhang Xiaojia's afterimage traced seven paths through the zero-gravity chamber, each strike from her bone blade accurately hitting the moving bull's-eye. Her training suit was soaked with sweat, steam rising from the cracks in her carapace—this was the 27th consecutive hour of training recorded by the monitoring system.
"Is she crazy..." The leader of the human elite class covered his red and swollen right wrist, where the bone marks from yesterday's sparring were still visible.
A human student squatted in the observation area, chewing on an energy bar. "She didn't stop even after breaking three bone blades yesterday..."
The Zerg cub's antennae trembled: "Sister Jia is replicating the data of the battle in the mother nest." Pointing to the holographic screen - on it scrolled every frame of the battle record between Tang Han and He Fei in the mother nest.
Suddenly, all the screens burst into blue light, and Zhang Xiaojia's SSS-level mental force field exploded out of control, turning fifty training mechas into scrap metal at the same time.
She staggered to her feet amidst the smoke and dust, an abnormal golden light flashing in her eyes: "One more round."
Tang Han was still lying in the medical cabin. He was seriously injured. Seeing Jia Jia's training on the monitor, he crushed the door of the medical cabin.
He Fei returned to the training ground as the commander. When Zhang Xiaojia saw He Fei, he walked away without looking back.
He Fei kept her for individual training and blocked all the cameras.
Zhang Xiaojia kicked He Fei against the wall.
"Why didn't you fight back? Aren't you very capable? You and my father are going to die together." Zhang Xiaojia said angrily
He Fei laughed mischievously, "Which part? Hiding it from you? Or almost dying? Isn't this something you do often?"
Zhang Xiaojia flew over and pointed the bone knife at his neck.
"Who do you think you are? A hero? A savior? Or do you think I can bear to see you die where I can't see you?" Zhang Xiaojia said with red eyes.
"You bastard, you almost died. I will never see you again, and you still bully me."
He Fei hugged her and said, "I'm just afraid of seeing you cry."
"30 seconds before the hive exploded," He Fei's voice suddenly became very soft, "I saw an illusion. You were holding my body, and your shell was cracking inch by inch. I would rather you hate me than watch you shatter in front of me, Jiajia."
Zhang Xiaojia said angrily: "Break up"
He Fei grabbed her trembling hand and pressed it against his chest. "Love me or kill me, choose one. If you break up with me, I'll lock you up."
