Chapter 69 The Prince Who Failed to Revolt

Chapter 69 The Prince Who Failed to Revolt

When Zhang Xiaojia received the red envelope, her face was filled with joy that was hard to conceal.

He Fei stood aside, looking at Zhang Xiaojia's happy face, but felt regretful in his heart. Next time he must prepare the red envelope in advance and give Jiajia a bigger one.

He Fei took his elder brother's hand and quickly walked to the study.

In the study, the emperor was standing quietly in front of two huge wooden barrels, his eyes deep and solemn.

The wooden barrel was filled with steaming potion, emitting a faint herbal aroma.

He Fei took a deep breath, turned around and said to the emperor: "Brother, today we are not talking about the relationship between the emperor and his subjects, but only about brothers. Do you dare to soak in it? These three hours will be excruciating, but it will strengthen your body and maybe even prolong your life."

After saying that, He Fei stepped into the wooden barrel without hesitation and was instantly surrounded by boiling hot potion.

He bit the towel tightly, the muscles on his face twisted in pain, and the skin on his body cracked under the stimulation of the potion, then healed quickly and cracked again.

Within a stick of incense, the water in the wooden barrel had turned red with blood.

The emperor stood aside and witnessed all this, and was deeply shocked.

He asked softly, "Jia'er has soaked it too?"

He Fei nodded with difficulty, a hint of determination flashing in his eyes.

He deliberately waited for the emperor to come and take a bath together because he didn't want Jiajia to see him in pain. He couldn't bear the physical pain and the heartache of Jiajia's crying at the same time.

A quarter of an hour later, the emperor finally made up his mind, took off his clothes, and stepped into another wooden barrel.

He imitated He Fei, biting the towel tightly and feeling the severe pain brought by the medicine.

He felt as if his blood vessels were broken and his skin was being peeled off, causing him unbearable pain.

Time passed minute by minute. After holding on for two hours, He Fei finally couldn't bear it anymore and spit out the towel.

However, when he looked at the emperor, he found that the emperor was still insisting with an expressionless face, and the towel was still tightly bitten in his mouth.

He Fei couldn't help but sigh in his heart, his elder brother was indeed powerful, but still a little bit short of himself.

Three hours later, He Fei walked out of the wooden barrel, exhausted.

Zhang Xiaojia stood at the door with two buckets of clear water in her hands: "He Fei, clean water is drawn for you, come and get it. I have also prepared the clothes." Her voice was gentle and concerned, and there was a hint of worry in her eyes.

He Fei stood up from the barrel and wiped the water droplets off his body: "Jia Jia, I'll get it, you go back to the house and wait for me, I'll be there soon."

Zhang Xiaojia nodded and replied softly, "Okay."

She turned around and went back into the house, but she was still worried about He Fei and the emperor.

Soon after, the emperor emerged from the wooden barrel, washed himself, and entered the house. He saw two bowls of steaming potions placed on the kang table. He Fei was standing nearby, waiting for him to choose. Without a word, the emperor simply picked up a bowl of potion and drank it in one gulp. The potion was bitter and strong, but his expression remained unchanged.

Seeing this, He Fei also picked up another bowl of medicine and drank it without hesitation. The two smiled at each other, as if they had reached some kind of tacit understanding in silence.

Zhang Xiaojia hurried forward and took the emperor's pulse first.

Her fingers gently rested on the emperor's wrist. "Oh my god! Why is he recovering so well?"

Reluctantly, she took He Fei's pulse again and found that He Fei's recovery was better than hers.

Zhang Xiaojia was so angry that she stamped her feet and couldn't help complaining, "You guys recovered better than me, why?"

The emperor looked tired and asked, "Did you eat?" His tone was calm, as if nothing had happened.

Zhang Xiaojia was stunned for a moment, then nodded. Soon, the imperial chef brought over steaming dumplings. The dumplings had thin wrappers and generous fillings, and the aroma was mouth-watering.

The three of them sat around the table on the kang and began to devour the dumplings, one after another disappearing in their mouths, as if they could never have enough.

In the end, the three of them ate nearly two hundred dumplings, and the plates on the table were almost cleared out.

After eating, the emperor and He Fei fell asleep.

Zhang Xiaojia covered them with blankets.

It is now noon, and the sunlight shines into the house through the window lattice, making it warm.

Zhang Xiaojia was actually a little sleepy, so he took a soft quilt from the cabinet and went straight to the soft mat to lie down.

This soft mat was usually used by the maids when they slept with her. Although it was not luxurious, it was comfortable. She wrapped herself tightly in the quilt, closed her eyes, and soon fell into a deep sleep.

She was awakened by the aroma of food, which was so rich and tempting that it seemed to carry a magical power and went straight into her nose.

Zhang Xiaojia opened her eyes drowsily and saw the emperor standing beside her, holding a plate of steaming dishes in his hand with a playful smile on his face.

The emperor shook his head, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone: "You are such a grown man, but you still drool while sleeping." After he said that, he deliberately pointed to the corner of his mouth, indicating Zhang Xiaojia to wipe it.

Zhang Xiaojia was stunned for a moment, then reacted. She glared at the emperor, quickly got up from the soft mat, and hurried to wash up.

After washing up, Zhang Xiaojia returned to the house, her face regaining her usual arrogant expression.

She crossed her arms and raised her chin slightly: "Brother, don't forget that you are here for the pesticides and nutrient solution for the fields." Her tone was a reminder and a bit complacent, as if she had grasped the emperor's weakness.

The emperor raised his eyebrows and pretended to be serious: "What? Are you still planning to raise the price with me? Be careful or I will cut your price." When he said this, there was a smile in his eyes. Obviously, he was not really angry, but seemed to be teasing her.

Seeing this, Zhang Xiaojia was not willing to be outdone. He curled his lips and said, "Humph, I dare not ask for a higher price, but if you dare to undercut me, I will go to my mother to complain!"

The emperor was amused by her appearance, shook his head and said, "Alright, alright, I won't argue with you anymore."

"Where's He Fei?" Zhang Xiaojia

The Emperor: "Jingwen has gone to get the lychee paste for you."

Zhang Xiaojia pulled the emperor to a large cabinet and said, "Brother, you've taken a medicinal bath and your strength has increased. Try to move it and see if you can do it."

The emperor glanced at Zhang Xiaojia and moved the cabinet without any effort.

Zhang Xiaojia sighed and said, "I can only get three sets of this medicine. There are no more. Otherwise, I can only give it to my mother with another one."

The emperor felt absolutely sorry, but his face remained calm.

After dinner, Zhang Xiaojia respectfully handed over the list of pesticides and soil nutrient solution she had already written. The emperor took the list, glanced over it, and nodded slightly, as if pleased with her attentiveness.

He Fei left with the emperor.

"Be good and stay in the imperial mausoleum. Don't make any noise, okay?" the emperor said in a low voice.

A mischievous smile flashed in Zhang Xiaojia's eyes, and then he quickly replied: "Brother, don't worry! I'm very good."

He gently held her in his arms: "I will be back tomorrow."

Zhang Xiaojia leaned on his chest, nodded slightly, and a faint smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.
