Chapter 41 Luckily, I had the housekeeper stop her.

Looking up at Jiang Baili, I saw her naturally accept the towel handed to her by the servant and wipe her hands, her smile polite and generous.

"There might be some misunderstanding in this matter. You'll understand once I go over and explain it to the old man."

Housekeeper Wu was relieved; since Jiang Baili was so certain, she must be right.

This young man looks tall and strong, but he's too inflexible. No matter how much he explains, he's still arguing about whether or not to thank Xie Li.

He didn't say much, just wore a polite smile, instructed the servants to bring flowers, and followed Jiang Baili to the next room.

The young man still looked bewildered, and finally just scratched his head before running ahead to lead the way.

After sending Jiang Baili over, Butler Wu thanked them and, not wanting to disturb Jiang Baili, returned to the Xie family home.

With the master of the house away, things were a bit lax in the kitchen. When the cook saw the housekeeper return, she asked if some items on the menu should be removed.

The butler nodded: "Remove them, just keep... these four dishes."

The cook glanced at the menu. All four dishes were very ordinary home-style dishes, one of which was tomato and egg soup. Compared to the standard ten dishes that Jiang Baili and Xie Yunqiu used to serve at home, it was really not enough in terms of both quantity and quality.

But she didn't say anything. Anyway, it was just a few simple dishes, quick to make, and it saved her trouble.

——

On the other side.

Sitting in the magnificent hall, Jiang Baili always wore a generous and proper smile.

Behind her, the maid stood to the side and whispered, "Miss, I heard that the old master cooked a special meal for you."

"Oh my goodness, this old man really likes you!"

The servants respectfully served Jiang Baili coffee and snacks. Jiang Baili picked up the coffee and took a sip; the rich flavor almost intoxicated her.

She always thought the coffee she drank was top-notch, but when she compared the tastes, she could clearly feel the difference.

“This coffee…” Jiang Baili said with a smile, “has a rich and full-bodied taste, even better than the finest Blue Mountain coffee.”

The servant laughed and said, "That's right, the annual production of this coffee is less than a few pounds."

Jiang Baili has some knowledge of coffee and knows that some of the world's top-tier products are only available to the most prestigious and wealthy families. Ordinary people have never even heard of them, let alone had the opportunity to come into contact with them.

She has never drunk it or heard of it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

The servants left, and the maid whispered, "It's fortunate that it's you, Miss. If it were someone else, how could they appreciate such high-end coffee?"

"Luckily, I saw the housekeeper stop her when she went downstairs, otherwise she would have shamelessly followed us over for a free meal."

Jiang Baili gracefully put down her coffee cup. "Don't say that."

She stood up: "The old man is so honored, it wouldn't be right for me to just sit here. Let's go to the kitchen and ask if he needs any help."

As the two got up to go to the kitchen, they saw a sprightly old man in a Tang suit come out.

He wiped his hands and ordered, "Hurry up and serve the food! Don't let the young lady go hungry!"

Jiang Baili recognized him immediately; he was the elderly man she had met briefly that day. With a polite smile, she went to greet him: "Grandpa..."

The old man turned his head, saw her, paused for a moment, and then peeked behind her as if looking for something.

Jiang Baili was confused and subconsciously followed him for a few steps.

The servants had already come out one after another to set the table, and the waiters were pushing out food carts.
