Chapter 106 Arrival

Qin Yi held Su Wan's hand the whole time. Su Wan felt much better. She wasn't a sentimental person, and she felt bad seeing everyone travel such a long distance for her.

Chen Qianlan comforted her, "This isn't just your problem, don't put pressure on yourself."

Su Wan nodded. She had always felt that things were developing very strangely, but since it had happened, she would try to face the difficulties head-on, even if it meant suffering heavy losses, she would fight for a way out for herself.

She also knew that the journey would not be peaceful.

Once on the train, Jiang Baiyuan sat next to Chen Qianlan in their seats. The group chatted and laughed, as excited as young people about to embark on a long journey.

As the group was chatting animatedly, a train attendant pushed a cart over and called out to them. She was a friendly older woman who greeted them warmly, "Gentlemen, would you like some bread?"

Jiang Baiyuan, sitting to the outside of Chen Qianlan, replied indifferently, "No, we brought our own."

The train attendant was not affected by Jiang Baiyuan's attitude at all and remained enthusiastic: "Comrade, there are still hot buns, they're still warm."

Lin Changchun and Qin Yi exchanged a glance. Lin Changchun jumped up, his eyes wide, and exclaimed, "Didn't you hear me? My brother said no!"

Lin Changchun's stern face was still quite intimidating. The train attendant was slightly taken aback, rolled his eyes at Lin Changchun, and then muttered a few words: "What's with the expression? If you don't want to buy, then don't buy. Who cares!" Then he pushed the trolley away.

Train attendants, who spend years selling things on trains, have seen all sorts of people and are among the most perceptive. They generally won't pester people to sell to them if they say they don't want something.

In some ways, unless they know the other person's identity, they look down on farmers who do small business or even farm, because they have secure jobs.

This is not an isolated case; it reflects the reality for most people.

After the train conductor left, everyone exchanged glances, seeing wariness in each other's eyes. They knew the journey was not going to be peaceful, and they all became more vigilant.

As evening fell, the train stopped at a small station, and a dozen or so people swarmed onto it. As they passed by, Su Wan inexplicably felt a sense of unease, as if she were being pricked by needles.

Chen Qianlan glanced at Su Wan sitting opposite her from time to time, her face filled with worry.

No one slept much that night, cautiously looking around from time to time, but they got through the night peacefully. To everyone's surprise, they didn't encounter anything unusual until they got off the train.

Even that group of suspicious people have disappeared.

Qin Yi glanced at Jiang Baiyuan and told him to instruct everyone to be more vigilant. In their experience, the calmer the exterior, the more turbulent the undercurrents.

The group arrived at Li Xiaohong's village without incident. Li Xiaohong, dressed in traditional southern Xinjiang clothing, was waiting at the village entrance, holding the hand of a six or seven-year-old boy.

Chen Qianlan looked at Li Xiaohong, her eyes slightly red: "Xiaohong, it's been a long time."

Li Xiaohong glanced at Chen Qianlan, then pulled the little boy along, saying, "Yiwa, call her auntie."

The little boy named Yiwa called out in a clear voice, "Auntie."

Looking at the face that resembled that of an old friend, Chen Qianlan felt a mix of emotions. She squatted down, patted the little boy's head, took out some money from her pocket, and gave it to him without counting it. "Good boy, nice to meet you. This is a red envelope from your aunt."

Yiwa looked up at Li Xiaohong, who nodded. Only then did Yiwa accept the red envelope and say to Chen Qianlan, "Thank you, Auntie."

Chen Qianlan pulled Su Wan along, "Xiaohong, this is the sister-in-law I told you about, she's been poisoned by a Gu."

“Although you’ve tried to put the Gu in her body to sleep, it’s still draining her life essence. If you don’t remove it soon, she won’t last much longer. Come with me.” Li Xiaohong looked at the pale-faced Su Wan, finished speaking expressionlessly, and turned to lead the way.

Li Xiaohong's attitude wasn't exactly friendly; her face always carried a hint of worry.

Chen Qianlan followed silently. After many years apart, she and Li Xiaohong could never go back to the way things were. Fortunately, Li Xiaohong was willing to lend a helping hand to Su Wan.

No matter what, I still owe her a favor.

Su Wan's face was pale. Li Xiaohong was right. Although the Gu poison had not taken effect, she felt weak and had been barely holding on the way.

She hadn't told him because she was afraid Qin Yi would worry.

Upon hearing Li Xiaohong's words, Qin Yi carried Su Wan on his back without saying a word.

Su Wan leaned against Qin Yi's strong back, feeling at peace. Although she had been poisoned by the Gu, she was content because someone was there for her and worried about her.

Jiang Baiyuan stayed by Chen Qianlan's side the whole time, automatically putting himself on the same team as Chen Qianlan. In the past few days, except for going to the toilet, the two were practically inseparable, if you ignored Jiang Baiyuan's persistent pestering.

Chen Qianlan refused, but it was no use.

With Qin Yi's repeated calls of "brother-in-law," Jiang Baiyuan's motivation was like that of a train—slow and steady.

Li Xiaohong stopped in front of a distinctive little bamboo house. Qin Yi bent down slightly and held Su Wan's arm with one hand to help her land steadily.

Jiang Baiyuan looked on with envy. He glanced at Chen Qianlan, who was helping Su Wan, and wondered when he would have that day.

Li Xiaohong led the person into the house and said calmly, "Please sit down."

Qin Yi was a man who rarely showed his emotions. He looked at Li Xiaohong with sincere eyes and said gratefully, "Sister Li, thank you for being willing to lend a helping hand to save my lover."

Li Xiaohong glanced at him without any emotion. "I didn't save her because of you."

Her words were straightforward and to the point. Su Wan chuckled inwardly. Such a frank personality was indeed the reason why she could become friends with Chen Qianlan. She raised her pale face and said, "Although it was because of my sister, we are still very grateful."

After Su Wan finished speaking, Qin Yi handed a thick envelope to Li Xiaohong, which was a thank-you gift that Su Wan and Li Xiaohong had prepared before coming.

Li Xiaohong didn't take it, but pushed the envelope back, saying, "I don't want the money."

Yiwa looked up at Su Wan with her innocent little face and said, "Auntie is so pretty."

Su Wan looked at Yiwa, whose eyebrows and eyes bore a four-tenths resemblance to Li Xiaohong, but he probably looked more like his father.

"Auntie, thank you for the compliment, Yiwa. Our Yiwa is very handsome, and he will definitely be even more handsome when he grows up."

"Will he be as handsome as this uncle?" Yiwa asked innocently, pointing at Qin Yi.

Children's words are always innocent and naive. One sentence made everyone in the room burst into laughter, and the atmosphere immediately became much more relaxed. Even Li Xiaohong, who had been looking unwell, felt much better.

Su Wan patted his head, smiled and nodded: "Yes, he will be even more handsome than your uncle."

"Will my little sister be as pretty as my aunt?"

Yiwa's words made Li Xiaohong's expression change, and she scolded him, "Yiwa, what nonsense are you talking about?"

Yiwa trembled at Li Xiaohong's stern attitude, instinctively took a step back, her eyes reddened, and she felt wronged and wanted to cry.

Does Iva have a younger sister?

Seeing Li Xiaohong's sudden change in expression, Chen Qianlan tugged at her hand: "Don't be angry."

Li Xiaohong looked displeased. Chen Qianlan pulled Yiwa over and coaxed him gently. Li Xiaohong grabbed Yiwa and pulled him into the small room. A moment later, Li Xiaohong turned back with a smile on her face.
