Chapter 1 Inside the Dog's Belly

Su Wan was forced to sit in the sink in the toilet, with the icy water running down her face and into her nostrils. The pain made her instinctively struggle.

"Let's see you dare to mess with Lu Xing, you country bumpkin, don't you even know your own limitations?"

The group of people came out in a very casual manner.

Su Wan remained completely unmoved.

This has happened countless times in the past six months.

She has become numb.

"Su Wan, it's vacation time, are you coming or not?"

Someone suddenly called her from the doorway.

Yes, it's holiday time, today is the last day.

She had been wandering for eighteen years, only to be told last year that she was the daughter of the Su family.

Years ago, the nanny of the Su family switched her own daughter with the Su family's daughter in order to secure a better future for her own child. However, before she died, she had a change of heart and revealed the truth.

At that moment, Su Wan finally understood why her adoptive mother had always been so harsh on her—because she wasn't her biological mother at all.

She clearly remembers the scene when she was taken back to the Su family.

Su's mother, Han Hongmei, hugged her tightly, her eyes red from crying. Su's father, Su Chengde, also had red eyes. Having never been loved since childhood, she was at a loss, feeling both happy and apprehensive, unsure how to express her complex emotions.

Su's mother, Han Hongmei, held her hand tightly and said, "Your sister is innocent. What the adults did has nothing to do with her. From now on, we are family."

Su Chengde comforted her lovingly, telling her that the hard times of the past were over and that they would make it up to her in the future, giving her the best life and everything.

Her brother, Su Shikun, even promised that he would make her the happiest sister in the world.

She herself felt that finally returning home and recognizing her biological parents would be an extremely happy thing, and she could enjoy the protection of her parents and the love of her brother.

However, her loving family sent her to a boarding school on the third day. For the entire semester, they never came to see her or asked if she had enough money or clothes. She had to work in the canteen because she ran out of money. Because her clothes didn't fit, she was bullied by her classmates time and time again, and was even pushed into the latrine.

She hoped they would come to see her and support her, but they didn't.

That day, she watched as her parents delivered clothes to Su Qing at the neighboring school, lovingly telling her to eat well, without thinking of herself at the neighboring school.

She knew then that Su Qing was still their most beloved daughter, while she was dispensable.

Back in her dorm, she quietly packed her few belongings. As she walked to the school gate, her classmates were being picked up by their parents. She looked around and, unsurprisingly, didn't see anyone from the Su family.

She dragged her luggage and walked slowly forward.

A brand new bicycle stopped in front of her.

"Su, would you like me to give you a ride?"

Su Wan looked at Lu Xing in front of her, the student council president of No. 2 Middle School, and also the school's most popular guy.

He was the first person to show kindness to Su Wan, and the one Su Wan fell for at first sight.

But it was also because of him that Su Wan suffered a lot of torment that she shouldn't have had to endure.

"Thank you, Lu, but no need."

She gave a slight twitch of her lips.

Lu Xing held onto the handlebars and watched Su Wan's thin figure slowly walk away.

When Su Wan returned to the Su family home, it was already completely dark.

Su Qing's sweet laughter came from inside the house; the family seemed to be talking about something happy.

The warm laughter of their family of four, coming through the doorway, was like a sharp blade slicing open the dusty pockets of her heart, causing the grievances that had been weighing on her to surge up.

Su Wan closed her eyes tightly, suppressing her grievances, her face remaining completely calm.

Taking a deep breath, I pushed open the door and entered. Almost the instant the door opened, the laughter inside stopped abruptly.

The family looked at her arrival with some surprise, seemingly having forgotten that she was even in their household.

Even though Su Wan had already prepared herself mentally, she was still stung by their reactions, feeling a tightness and bloating in her chest.

Han Hongmei was the first to react, and stood up with a happy expression, extending her hands to welcome her: "Wanwan is back!"

He gave Su Shikun another push: "Xiao Kun, hurry up and help your sister with her luggage."

Su Shikun stood up, took long strides, and walked a few steps to Su Wan. He reached out to take Su Wan's luggage, but Su Wan remained calm and dodged him.

"Thank you, I can do it myself."

Su Shikun looked at Su Wan and felt that she was really impolite and prickly. He frowned unhappily. He had clearly come to help out of kindness, but what kind of attitude was that!

Is this how you treat your brother?

"We pay for your schooling, and all the knowledge you learn is wasted?"

Su Shikun's words were accusatory and dissatisfying.

Su Chengde spoke in a solemn voice.

"Alright, let your sister eat first!"

Su Shikun frowned and returned to the dining table angrily, while Han Hongmei affectionately pulled Su Wan along.

"Wanwan, why didn't you tell the family you were coming back so your dad and brother could have picked you up?"

Su Wan's hands, which were hanging down, clenched uncontrollably.

"Shouldn't No. 1 Middle School and No. 2 Middle School have the same holiday?"

Han Hongmei's face stiffened, and she turned her head away somewhat awkwardly.

She knew what Su Wan was talking about. Su Qing was in No. 1 Middle School. Back then, because Su Wan was from the countryside and had a poor foundation, she couldn't get into No. 1 Middle School and had to go to No. 2 Middle School. But No. 1 Middle School and No. 2 Middle School were not far apart. They were both public schools and had the same holiday time.

They went to pick up Su Qing, but it was obvious they hadn't thought of her.

Su Wan gave a mocking smirk.

This is the blood relative she cherishes so dearly, who has clearly forgotten her but still tries to find a plausible reason to shift the blame.

Su Wan bit her lip subtly, her face beaming with a smile.
