Chapter 1: Going home? Memories.

Chapter 1: Going home? Memories.

Early that morning, a knock on the door woke the girl in her dorm room. She rolled over, got out of bed, and said, "Excuse me, wait a moment." She straightened her clothes and opened the door. She was greeted by a wrinkle-free white shirt and straight legs wrapped in a black suit. Looking up, she saw an incredibly handsome face. The girl quickly went over the man in her mind, confirming she didn't recognize him.

"Excuse me, who are you looking for?"

"Looking for you, I am your second brother"

"Second...brother?"

"Well, I was overseas dealing with company matters a month ago and couldn't make it back."

"Oh, what can I do for you?"

"Nuannuan, I'm here to take you home"...

One month ago:

"Doctor Xiao Ye, you are one of the trainees going to S City People's Hospital this time. Go back and prepare well." Director Qin of the orthopedics department called Ye Nuan after finishing an operation.

"Okay, thank you, Director."

"Don't be polite. Everyone has seen your hard work over the past year. You should seize the opportunity to learn at this big city hospital. Come back in two years and lead our little temple to further success!"

"Doctor Xiao Ye, we're keeping an eye on you!" said the young nurse beside her with a smile.

The nurse glanced at the director, then pulled Ye Nuan aside and whispered, "I heard that S City is a place where every inch of land is worth a lot of money. There are many wealthy families there, so there must be many tall, rich and handsome men. Sister Nuannuan, if you run into any, remember to take a picture and share it with me."

"Little nympho," Ye Nuan said with a smile as she looked at the young and lovely girl in front of her.

"Then Director, we'll go back first."

"Okay, go back and have a good rest." The director waved his hand.

Returning to the staff dormitory assigned by the hospital, Ye Nuan sighed softly, with an expression that didn't match her age, "I wonder if the staff restaurant at S City People's Hospital will be expensive.

"Q County, where Ye Nuan lives, is a small, run-down county that's nowhere near a fifth-tier city. It has no distinctive culture and no famous attractions. People here move at a very slow pace, and there's not much competitive pressure. A girl like Ye Nuan, who has a formal hospital job, is considered respectable and stable in the eyes of most parents.

But for Ye Nuan, who just started working, the salary is really a bit low. Unlike those children who have parents to support them, she is an orphan who grew up in an orphanage and no one adopted her.

After finishing junior high school, I went to high school with the help of part-time jobs and scholarships. I was so thin that I almost became an adult but my grades didn't fall behind. I was admitted to the best medical university in the city, got a master's degree, and was admitted to the best hospital in Q County. However, I have not yet paid back the minimum living allowance I applied for during college.

And she had to make plans for her future. Ye Nuan lay in bed, staring blankly at the upper bunk. She didn't want to miss this hard-earned opportunity for further study, but she didn't dare to think about what kind of life would be waiting for her in the next year.

At eight o'clock on Sunday, Ye Nuan arrived at the hospital entrance carrying a suitcase containing almost all her belongings. She took the bus arranged by the hospital to the high-speed rail station, checked her ticket, and entered the station.

It was Ye Nuan's first time riding on a high-speed train. Looking at the plants rapidly receding outside the window, Ye Nuan recalled her college days. In order to save money, she rarely took the bus. She didn't have many relatives in Q County, so she applied to stay overnight during the winter and summer vacations and worked part-time outside the school. The few times she went back were because Q County No. 1 High School invited her to speak on the May Fourth Youth Day as a representative of outstanding graduates.

The high-speed train sped forward. Seeing her colleagues around her full of anticipation, Ye Nuan felt only apprehension. She was afraid that she would not be able to fit into the fast-paced big city, that she would have to adapt to new colleagues and work atmosphere, and that her life would be full of financial challenges.

Three hours later, after getting off the high-speed railway station and queuing up to exit, Ye Nuan felt a gaze lingering on her. As they walked out of the high-speed railway station to look for the car that would take them to S City People's Hospital, suddenly, a young man jumped out.

"Sister, why are you dressed like this? Didn't you go to the Paris fashion show? Why did you come out of the high-speed rail station? And why do you look so much thinner?"

The series of questions stunned Ye Nuan. After calming down, she said slowly, "I'm sorry, you got the wrong person."

"What? Stop joking with me. Are you going to some mountain village to help with poverty alleviation? Don't worry, if you don't want others to know, I won't tell my parents, hehe." The boy smiled and showed two small canine teeth, which was very cute, making Ye Nuan inexplicably want to get close to him.

The head nurse who led the team understood Ye Nuan's situation and took the initiative to walk up to the boy and said, "Sorry, handsome boy, this is a doctor from our hospital. You have the wrong person."

The boy wanted to say something else.

"Gu Mochen, get in the car quickly and let the whole family wait for you to eat alone?" A female voice came from behind Ye Nuan.

"Oh, coming right away. Sorry, I recognized the wrong person. But you really look like my sister." After saying that, he ran to a red Rolls-Royce, said a few words to the girl in the driver's seat with a smile, got in the car and left.

Ye Nuan and the others thought he had just mistaken the person and did not take this incident to heart. They quickly found a reception car and went to the People's Hospital.

The group arrived at the hospital and completed the handover procedures. Two leaders from City S led the male and female teams respectively to the dormitories assigned by the hospital.

It has to be said that S City and Q County are completely different. Ye Nuan and her companion Su Ning were shocked when they entered the luxurious dormitory for two people and packed their luggage.

"Nuannuan, let's go out with them. We'll be busy tomorrow."

"No, I'm a little tired, you guys go play!"

"Okay, then you take a rest for a while, and I'll bring you something delicious when I come back."

It’s not that Ye Nuan doesn’t want to go out. How could she get tired after just taking a bus based on her childhood experiences?

It’s just that when people go out and see something delicious or fun, they will definitely try it, and she doesn’t want to spoil everyone’s fun.

Is Ye Nuan envious? The answer is no.

When she was a child, Ye Nuan was definitely envious when she saw her classmates happily going home with their parents, going to the amusement park, and eating the snacks they wanted. She would secretly shed tears, asking herself why she was abandoned and when her parents would find her.

However, Ye Nuan had long forgotten such expectations due to her growth experience. She had already graduated and could earn money to support herself. It seemed that she no longer needed relatives and family. After paying off her school debts, she could buy whatever she wanted. So what was there to envy?
