Chapter 9 Consultation
After leaving the teahouse, Gu Mocheng decided to go home and discuss the matter with his father.
In the old house of the Gu family, Gu Mochen was playing on the carpet with Gu Jingnian, while Lu Qingqing and Gu Muxi were accompanying Gu's mother and old lady Gu to select the new fashion week products sent by Gu Muwan.
Gu Muwan chose her favorite major, fashion design, in college. After returning from studying abroad, she opened her own design studio and, with the help of her two brothers, soon opened overseas branches. Recently, she was invited to Paris Fashion Week and took care of some business there.
Seeing Gu Mocheng come in, little Gu Jingnian rushed over and said, "Dad, you're back!" The cheerful tone made Gu Mocheng put aside the worries of the day and hugged his son: "Did you miss Dad?"
"I have been thinking about it. I have been thinking about it since Dad left home." As the eldest son of the younger generation of the Gu family, Gu Jingnian is spoiled to no end, and sweet words come out of his mouth all the time.
The heat lasted only a few seconds. "Dad, put me down quickly, my uncle is about to knock down my house." Xiao Niannian struggled with his legs. Gu Mocheng laughed and put his son down, letting him go to fight with Gu Mochen. He hugged his wife from the back of the sofa and asked his mother: "Mom, where is my dad?"
"Study," Gu's mother answered without looking at either of them.
Seeing that the group of people in the living room were all focused on their own things and couldn't run away for a while, Gu Mocheng went upstairs, came to the study and locked the door.
Father Gu looked at his eldest son's actions and seemed to be familiar with them. "What's wrong?"
"Dad, I want to tell you something that may be related to what you told me."
Father Gu put down the documents in his hand, looked at him seriously, and waited for his next words.
Gu Mocheng took out his cell phone, opened the email about Pei Yan's investigation, and handed it to his father.
Father Gu was confused. "What is this?"
"Dad, please open the last email again."
"Isn't this a photo of Wanwan? When Wanwan was in college? How come she has become so thin?" Father Gu was puzzled.
"Dad, this photo is not of Wanwan." Gu Mocheng answered softly.
"What? So... these two emails are about the same person?" Father Gu quickly realized. "Who is this Ye Nuan? How did you find out? Why do you think she's involved in that incident?"
"Dad, Lu Ming said that according to common sense, that family would not give up after taking the Gu family's money. They would either continue to make trouble with us, or sue my aunt's nephew or even the Gu family. But they took the money and never mentioned this matter for so many years, unless they have already retaliated against us somewhere else." Gu Mocheng analyzed to his father.
"Hmm." Father Gu seemed to be thinking about something and just nodded lightly.
"Did you guess it?" Gu Mocheng was not surprised by his father's analysis of Lu Ming.
"Ah Cheng, actually, after Xixi got into the car accident, that family showed up. I suspected they were involved, but no matter how we investigated, it was just an accident, and Xixi wasn't seriously injured. Later, the programmer's older brother said something to me. He just expressed his anger at the departure of his brother and grandfather, and didn't say anything else radical. But I always feel like there's another meaning to his words."
"What?"
"He said that so many years have passed and their pain has dissipated with time. Your Gu family is doing well, but there are so many people in this world, and there will always be times when you will suffer. It's just that the time has not come yet." Father Gu paused.
"At the time, I thought he was going to do something, but for over a month, the people sent to observe them didn't find anything wrong."
"Dad, what happened when mother gave birth to Wanwan and Xixi?"
"Hmph, now that you put it that way, you really gave them an opportunity." Gu's father rested his hand on his forehead. "Twenty-five years ago, due to that incident, the Gu family was in turmoil. Everyone was upset, including your mother. Having triplets is inherently risky, and I didn't want your mother to experience any further emotional upheaval. With a little over twenty days left before her due date, I took her to a nearby town to relax, thinking we'd be back in two or three days. But I didn't find the hospital in that small town, so she gave birth there."
"Did someone do something?"
"I didn't see anything at the time. I thought it was just an accident. It was a caesarean section. After all, it was normal to be born early, and there was no danger. But now I think about it, it might really be a human factor." Father Gu's eyes turned cold.
