Shi Si walked over with a notepad, glancing at Shi Ying who had just left out of the corner of his eye, and asked lazily, "You fought with that person?"
Shi Miao stood up and stretched a little. "Um, what about you?"
Shi Si glanced down at the name on the note, then at the other people in the heir's seat, and shrugged. "I don't know, I don't recognize them."
“That’s normal, I don’t know her either.” Shi Miao curled her lips and looked up at Shi Ying, who was already waiting on the competition stage. “Brother, I’ll go up first.”
Shi Si grunted in response, sat back down in his chair, crossed his legs, and casually rested his hands on his arm. His posture was languid, showing absolutely no sense of urgency about the upcoming competition. Anyone who didn't know better would think he was there to watch a show.
The elder, who was not far away, looked down on him even more for his carefree and irresponsible manner. He thought he was just a useless good-for-nothing. He then looked up at Shi Miao, who had already walked to the central competition stage.
Over here, Shi Miao nimbly flipped onto the competition platform and stood straight opposite Shi Ying, looking quite nonchalant.
This was also the first time Shi Miao had appeared in front of so many core members of the Shi family as the eldest daughter since returning to the family.
The girl had long, glossy black hair tied back, and her skin, as smooth as jade, looked even more delicate under the sunlight. Her eyes were slightly upturned at the corners, both captivating and sharp, making her so beautiful that it was impossible to look away.
Shi Ying's eyes narrowed, and she said coldly, "I will not show any mercy."
Shi Miao shook her wrist, her delicate eyebrows raised, her face as nonchalant as ever, and said lightly, "Then good luck."
Shi Ying's expression stiffened slightly, feeling a sense of powerlessness, like punching cotton. She stopped talking and the next second, her gaze sharpened, a stark contrast to her usual gentle and weak demeanor, and she began to move.
She moved with incredible speed, closing in on Shi Miao in the blink of an eye, her palm strikes sharp and carrying a murderous aura.
Shi Miao raised an eyebrow. Facing the oncoming attack, she showed no panic. She slightly shifted her body to the left to avoid the palm strike, while simultaneously sweeping her long leg forward with overwhelming force.
Shi Ying reacted quickly, dodging the attack immediately. At the same time, a hint of surprise appeared in her eyes, as if she hadn't expected Shi Miao to actually have some skill in martial arts.
Thinking of how she had been completely overshadowed by her in the Pharmacy Association, Shi Ying's eyes instantly ignited with fighting spirit, and her moves became increasingly ruthless.
The two exchanged blows, fighting fiercely like masters dueling, neither gaining the upper hand for a time.
However, upon closer inspection, Shi Miao clearly did not use her full strength, appearing to be handling the situation with ease.
The Shi family members in the audience were so shocked by this scene that their jaws nearly dropped, and even the way they looked at Shi Miao changed.
"Miss Shi Ying's strength ranks among the top three in the clan, even stronger than us men. I didn't expect that this newly returned young lady is no less powerful than her. Judging from her momentum, she's even more monstrous than Miss Shi Ying!"
"It looks like Miss Shi Ying is going to lose; she's no match for the young lady at all."
"Holy crap, who was it that said the young lady couldn't do anything? Does she look like she can't do anything at all?!"
The discussion among the Shi family members was quite loud, and the First Elder, who was seated among the elders, naturally heard it as well.
His face darkened. He never expected that a seemingly insurmountable situation would turn out this way. Suddenly, he remembered Shi Song's warning to him in the council chamber a couple of days ago. His eyes narrowed, and he looked sharply at Shi Song beside him. "Did you already know?"
Shi Song's brow twitched, and his expression wasn't much better. He was equally shocked. "How could I have known that she was so skilled?"
The elder withdrew his gaze and looked back at the competition platform. He rubbed his temples, feeling a bit of a headache. He knew that he had been too anxious and overthinking things. If Shi Song had known beforehand, he wouldn't have been so eager to bring forward the successor assessment, as it would have brought him no benefit.
"No wonder the patriarch agreed to the successor assessment so readily; he was waiting to see us make a fool of ourselves."
They pinned all their hopes on Shi Ying, thinking that she could use this assessment to completely crush Shi Miao and let the Shi family know that this newly returned young lady was a good-for-nothing who couldn't do anything.
As a result, all that can be heard now are the Shi family members praising Shi Miao, while Shi Ying has become nothing more than a foil.
Shi Song glanced at the elder beside him and reminded him, "Don't rush, this is just the beginning. There's still one more shooting exercise. You know how good Shi Ying is at shooting."
Upon hearing the mention of shooting, the Grand Elder's expression finally softened, though he had almost lost his composure. He nodded slightly, "You're right."
After all, the shooting assessment was specifically prepared for Shi Ying, so he could rest assured about that.
......
Meanwhile, on stage.
Shi Ying was forced to retreat repeatedly by Shi Miao's moves, a metallic taste rising in her mouth, but she forcefully suppressed it. She never expected that Shi Miao would hide such a deep secret. "You're really good at pretending."
Shi Miao clicked her tongue and ignored her, intending to finish the fight quickly. She didn't give Shi Ying a chance to breathe and quickly approached her, striking her above the chest with a palm strike.
Shi Ying's pupils shrank sharply, and before she could react, she had already been knocked off the stage by Shi Miao. She could no longer hold back and spat out a mouthful of blood.
She paused, glanced at the blood splattered on the ground, seemingly still unable to believe that she had lost.
Logically speaking, a normal palm strike would at most cause her to stagger back a few steps in pain, not send her flying off the stage. But Shi Miao's palm strike just now seemed to contain some special power, which was strange, but she didn't know how to explain it.
Shi Ying snapped out of her daze, looked up at the competition stage, and saw that Shi Miao had already turned around and was walking slowly off the stage.
All eyes in the audience were focused on her.
Shi Ying lowered her eyelashes slightly, coughed a few times, and slowly stood up, supporting herself with her hands on the ground. Then she returned to her seat.
The atmosphere around her was extremely tense, and no one dared to approach her and speak to her.
Shi Si looked at the girl sitting down beside him, his voice laced with a hint of sarcasm, "Not bad, you've inherited some of my skills."
Shi Miao picked up her coat from the chair and put it on. Her porcelain-white face was delicate and beautiful. She said in a sincere tone, "You taught me well."
Shi Si yawned, stood up, his deep eyes revealing a hint of laziness, and looked at the competition stage in front of him. "It's my turn."
Shi Miao zipped her jacket all the way up, covering half her face, and put her hands in her pockets. She looked casual and a little lazy. "Take it easy, don't break it."
Shi Si raised an eyebrow slightly, cracking his well-defined knuckles as he bent them, and curled his lips into a wicked smile. "Well, whatever you say."
