Chapter 15 I treated you like a sister, but you want to be my aunt?

In the afternoon exams, Shi Miao always handed in her paper early and was the first person to leave the exam room.

The week's testing finally came to a slow end under the cover of night.

Shi Miao packed her things, picked up her schoolbag with one hand, and took her phone, ready to go home.

Ji Sinian, empty-handed, leaned against the desk, propped his chin on his hand, and pondered, "Sister Miao, what's wrong with my uncle today? He just left me on the side of the road and walked away."

Shi Miao frowned and asked, "Didn't you say you had something to do and weren't going?"

"Damn it, it's clearly my uncle who doesn't want me to go, do you think he's lost his mind?"

Shi Miao's lips twitched slightly, and she nodded, "...He really went crazy."

After saying that, Shi Miao strode out of the classroom, and Ji Sinian quickly followed.

Shi Miao suddenly remembered something, stopped, and turned to look at Ji Sinian beside her. "By the way, there's something I'm quite curious about. Ji Yanchen is your uncle, so why do you share the same surname as him?"

Ji Sinian coughed awkwardly, "Well, my grandfather and my maternal grandfather were sworn enemies when they were young. My maternal grandfather was determined not to let my parents be together. In order to marry my mother, my father broke off relations with my maternal grandfather and voluntarily became a live-in son-in-law in the Ji family. My maternal grandfather was furious at the time. Anyway, their relationship only started to ease after I was born."

......

As the two talked, they arrived at the school gate. There, Ji Yanchen stood by the roadside. The dim light shone on the man's handsome face, his eyebrows and eyes were clear and refined. The top two buttons of his black shirt were undone, revealing his fair collarbone. His suit trousers hugged his long legs, and his whole person exuded a bewitching charm.

The man spotted Shi Miao immediately, strode forward, and said gently, "Shall I take you home?"

"Are you that free, Mr. CEO?" Shi Miao looked up and met the man's gaze.

A faint smile played in the man's eyes, and his thin lips curled slightly: "Your affairs always come first."

Although Shi Miao was slow to understand romantic feelings, she felt she was truly wasting her life if she couldn't even read a man's mind. She simply considered dating a very troublesome thing. However, looking at the strikingly handsome man before her, she was momentarily speechless.

The atmosphere instantly became tense.

Ji Sinian, standing to the side, dared not utter a sound.

He secretly wondered to himself: Does his uncle have a crush on my sister Miao?

The thought of having to call Shi Miao "Auntie" in the future made Ji Sinian shudder.

I treated you like a sister, but you're going to be my aunt-in-law?

Shi Miao clicked her tongue and slightly raised her chin. "Let's go."

Ji Yanchen's eyes brightened slightly, a smile playing on his lips. "Okay."

In the end, Ji Sinian was left alone, bewildered in the wind, thinking, "Damn it, why am I always the one who gets hurt?"

*

The car was so quiet that only their breathing could be heard.

"How did the exam go?" Ji Yanchen asked first.

Shi Miao tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and said lazily, "Ah, not bad."

The man chuckled softly and smiled slightly. "There's a reward for doing well on the test."

Shi Miao crossed her arms and raised her beautiful eyebrows slightly. "I'm not a child."

"To me, you're just a kid."

"Okay, Uncle."

"..." As if he had dug a hole for himself, Ji Yanchen smiled helplessly.

"Call me brother. I'm only 25, how can I be an uncle?"

Shi Miao looked down at her phone and said seriously, "Isn't he an old man yet?"

“Older men know how to be caring.” The man turned his head, his gaze burning as he looked at the girl.

While the two were bickering, the car had already arrived in front of the Gu family villa.

Shi Miao picked up her schoolbag and was about to open the car door when Ji Yanchen leaned over and blocked the door. His masculine scent instantly enveloped her, like a net that left the girl nowhere to escape.

Shi Miao didn't dodge, but just looked up at the man with a puzzled expression.

"Goodnight, Miaomiao." He then gentlemanly opened the car door for her.

Shi Miao lowered her eyelids and replied indifferently, "You too."

After saying that, he slammed the car door shut.

Only after the girl's figure disappeared from sight did Ji Yanchen slowly withdraw his gaze.

"Did I use too much force?" the man murmured.

As soon as Shi Miao reached the entrance, she heard Yun Rujin's caring voice coming from the living room: "Xinxin, how did you do on the exam this time?"

"Mom, I'll definitely be in the top five in my grade," Gu Yanxin said sweetly.

"You're such a good daughter, what kind of reward do you want?"

Gu Yanxin lowered her head, clutching the hem of her skirt, her eyes dimming as she said, "Being able to stay here and stay by your side is already the greatest reward for me."

Yun Rujin said with heartache, "You silly child, you're talking nonsense again."

Shi Miao seemed not to notice the two of them, and walked past behind the sofa, heading straight upstairs.

Gu Yanxin's gloomy expression vanished in an instant. She stood up and said softly, "Sister, you're back!"

Yun Rujin's face immediately darkened, and she sat on the sofa without saying a word.

Shi Miao ignored her, put his hands in his pockets, and slowly went upstairs, only to be met with the deafening sound of the door closing.

Gu Yanxin sat down next to Yun Rujin, took her arm, and said with a worried expression, "I wonder how my sister did on the exam this time."

"Hmph, as long as we don't come in last place," Yun Rujin said nonchalantly.
