Chapter 269 Returning to Tsinghua University

Xie Sizhou couldn't sit still any longer. After all, he didn't want to lose Qin Xiao as a brother, and besides, it was just a small misunderstanding. After thinking for a moment, he suggested, "Why don't I go find him now and we can sit down and have a proper talk?"

Shi Miao picked up her teacup, took a sip, and nodded slightly. "Okay, go check next door."

Xie Sizhou nodded and immediately got up and left the private room.

He stopped at the door of the next private room, knocked twice, and the door opened a few seconds later.

Qin Xiao was slightly taken aback when he saw Xie Sizhou standing at the door. He clearly hadn't expected him to come. After regaining his senses, he glanced at the private room next door where Shi Miao and the others were and asked, "Why did you come here?"

Xie Sizhou glanced at the private room behind him, but because of the screen, he couldn't see the people inside. Without wasting words, he said directly, "Would you be free to come and talk to us after dinner?"

Qin Xiao closed the door to the private room behind him, his eyes flickered slightly, a hint of tension flashing in them. His hands, hanging at his sides, clenched unconsciously, and his voice suddenly became a little dry, "Talk...talk about what?"

Xie Sizhou sighed softly, raised his hand and patted his shoulder, saying only, "In short, you misunderstood what your sister meant. Okay, you go ahead and do your work here, just come to our private room later."

Qin Xiao's eyes lit up instantly. He naturally knew what he meant and wished he could go there right now.

But then he thought of the people in the private room behind him, and suddenly his head started to ache again. He wanted to deal with them as soon as possible and leave.

Qin Xiao nodded, looking much happier. "Okay, I'll be there in a bit."

Seeing that he had returned to normal, Xie Sizhou felt much relieved and started chatting with him as usual, lowering his voice to ask, "Who were you sneaking around with for dinner?"

Qin Xiao coughed lightly, a hint of embarrassment on his face, but realizing that the doorway was clearly not the place to talk, he simply said, "Go, go, go back to your place quickly."

After saying that, he turned and walked into the private room, closing the door behind him.

Xie Sizhou raised an eyebrow, suppressed his curiosity, and returned to his private room.

...

Shi Miao looked at Xie Sizhou striding in and asked, "What do you mean?"

Xie Sizhou walked to the table, pulled out a chair and sat down, waving his hand, "Sister Shi, don't you trust me to handle this? He'll come over as soon as he's done on his end."

Shi Miao nodded, "Mm."

Soon, all the dishes they ordered were served.

Just as we were finishing our meal, there were two knocks on the door.

Upon hearing the sound, Xie Sizhou put down his teacup, got up, and went to open the door.

He looked at Qin Xiao standing outside the door and said, "Come in."

Qin Xiao nodded. Although he already knew that he had misunderstood Shi Miao's meaning at the time, he still felt a little nervous and at a loss. After taking a deep breath, he stepped in.

He walked to the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down. Looking at the girl sitting opposite him, his hands under the table seemed unsure of what to do. "Um... Shi Xiaomiao, you..."

Shi Miao raised her delicate eyebrows slightly, rested her arm on the table, and lazily propped her chin up with her long, pale hand, saying languidly, "What about me?"

Qin Xiao pursed his lips. Hearing Xie Sizhou say it was one thing, but he still needed to ask in person to be completely at ease. "So... let's still be friends?"

Shi Miao clicked her tongue lightly, looked at him with a deep gaze, and asked in return, "When did we stop being friends?"

Qin Xiao's eyes flickered slightly, and his heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down. His tense body relaxed, and he smiled, "Yes, always."

Seeing that things had gone on long enough, Xie Sizhou put his arm around his neck, his eyes gleaming with gossip, and asked, "Alright, you still haven't told me who you met up with today?"

Qin Xiao felt embarrassed. Seeing that he was determined to get to the bottom of things, he decided to lay it all out: "I was forced to come here on a blind date by my old man."

"..." Xie Sizhou scoffed coldly, looking hurt and deceived, and said with a pained expression, "We agreed to stay single for life and walk together, whoever gets out of being single first is a dog!"

Qin Xiao's lips twitched slightly. He glanced at Xie Sizhou, who was showing off his acting skills, and said speechlessly, "Don't worry, I just did a quick one. I'm still single."

The pained expression on Xie Sizhou's face vanished in an instant, and he patted his shoulder, "That's more like it."

...

After finishing their meal, Shi Miao didn't chat for long. After saying goodbye to Xie Sizhou and the others, she went straight to school.

Ji Yanchen parked the car at the entrance of Tsinghua University, reached out to adjust the scarf around Shi Miao's neck, and gently patted the top of her head, his tone soothing and deep: "Go on, Miao Shen."

Shi Miao unbuckled her seatbelt, picked up her backpack from beside her feet, opened the car door, and got out of the car nimbly.

She casually slung her backpack over her shoulder, placed her hand on the car door, leaned over to look at the man inside, and said in a clear, cool voice, "I'm leaving, Teacher Ji. See you this weekend."

Without waiting for the man to reply, she closed the car door and walked towards the school.

Ji Yanchen chuckled softly, watching the girl's tall and slender figure until she disappeared from sight, before starting the car and leaving.

It was noon, and there were still quite a few students coming and going at the school gate.

With her hands in her pockets, Shi Miao looked casual and a little lazy as she quickly walked into the school.

Even with half her face buried in her scarf and a hat on her head, with only her eyes showing, many passing students still recognized her.

Shi Miao seemed to have long been used to it, automatically ignoring the frequent glances from passersby, and walked unhurriedly toward the girls' dormitory building.

As I passed the cafeteria, a familiar voice suddenly came from behind me, "Sister Miao!"

Upon hearing this, Shi Miao stopped and turned around to look behind her, where she saw Ji Sinian and Lu Hansheng, whom she hadn't seen for a long time, walking over.

It was a bit of a surprise, considering I was wrapped up like a dumpling, yet they were still able to recognize me from behind. That was quite impressive.

How did you know it was mine?

Ji Sinian waved his hand, "We've known each other for so long, how could I not recognize your back? Besides, the aura you exude is definitely you."

He paused for a moment, then continued, "By the way, Sister Miao, when did you get back?"

Shi Miao took off her coat hood, tidied her slightly messy hair, greeted Lu Hansheng beside her, and said, "I just got back today."

Ji Sinian nodded. "Have you eaten yet? How about we go out to eat together?"

"I came over after I finished eating." Shi Miao looked at the two people in front of her who were being rather intimate, raised an eyebrow, and asked casually, "When did you get together?"

Lu Hansheng, who had been quiet all along, glanced at Ji Sinian beside him and suddenly said, "November 1st, 8:45:20 PM."

Shi Miao: "......"

Ji Sinian scratched the back of his head, feeling a little shy for once. He hadn't expected Lu Hansheng to be so precise, down to the second. However, he couldn't help but smile.

Upon seeing this, Shi Miao's lips twitched almost imperceptibly, as if she didn't want to be fed dog food anymore, and she simply said, "It's okay, I'll go back to my dorm first."

Ji Sinian coughed lightly and touched the bridge of his nose. "Ah, okay."

......
