Chapter 13 You're not worthy?

Shi Miao walked to the silver-black Bugatti Veyron parked by the roadside, opened the passenger door, and got in.

"Are you hungry? Want to grab a bite to eat?" the man asked, one hand on the steering wheel, turning his head to look at the table.

"No need, I've already bought my ticket. Just take me to the airport." Shi Miao fastened her seatbelt and glanced up at him.

Ji Yanchen: "..."

The man gave a helpless smile. "Why didn't you tell me?"

Shi Miao said innocently, "Well, didn't I just say that now?"

Ji Yanchen glanced to the side, seemingly casually, but Shi Miao could feel his eyes landing on her with an extremely aggressive gaze.

Shi Miao frowned, finding the man's behavior utterly baffling.

"Tsk, let's go." The man said, starting the car and driving towards the airport.

When Shi Miao arrived in H City, it was already dark. Just as she was about to hail a taxi to go back, a man walked towards her from the opposite direction.

"Excuse me, is this Miss Shi Miao?" Fu Jin asked respectfully.

Upon hearing this, Shi Miao stopped and raised an eyebrow slightly. "Who are you?"

"Master Chen instructed me to come and pick you up."

A hint of surprise flashed in Shi Miao's eyes, and she said lazily, "Okay, let's go."

After getting into the car, Shi Miao opened her phone and sent a message to Ji Yanchen.

Meow Meow Meow: [Thanks.]

Ji Yanchen: [Just a simple thank you?]

Meow Meow Meow: [What else?]

Ji Yanchen: [I'm going back to H City tomorrow.]

Meow Meow Meow: [?]

Ji Yanchen did not reply.

...

A dozen minutes later, the car stopped in front of the Gu family villa.

"Miss Shi, we've arrived." Fu Jin turned to look at the girl in the back row.

"Yes, thank you for your help."

Shi Miao closed the car door and walked into the villa.

"Where have you been? I haven't seen you all day. Who brought you back just now? Have you met some shady people outside?" Yun Rujin's questioning voice came as soon as she entered the door.

Shi Miao didn't even glance at her, and went straight upstairs.

Yun Rujin's face darkened. "Shi Miao, you stop right there! Do you even consider me your mother anymore?"

Shi Miao stopped in her tracks, her gaze suddenly turning sharp as she looked at her, her red lips parting slightly: "You think you're worthy?"

Yun Rujin was startled by Shi Miao's sudden gaze and was momentarily speechless.

Shi Miao turned and left, slamming the door shut with a bang, which sounded like a warning to Yun Rujin, making her tremble.

The following day, at H City No. 1 Middle School, students faced their first weekly test of the new semester.

"Sister Miao, let's go to the exam hall together," Ji Sinian invited, holding a pencil case.

Shi Miao's eyes reddened, and she stretched. "Okay, let's go."

Soon, Shi Miao and Ji Sinian arrived at the last examination room.

She was holding a pen in her hand when she slowly walked to the table with her name on it and sat down.

Ji Sinian sat next to Shi Miao, separated by an aisle.

"Sister Miao, don't worry, I'll lend it to you to copy after I finish writing it."

Shi Miao's lips twitched slightly. "No need. I could get a higher score than you even with my eyes closed."

"My goodness, you've already shown off all that, what am I supposed to show off for?"

"You're faking your death."

"....."

At this moment, Li Ling and another proctor walked in carrying sealed exam papers.

"Alright, put all your books and materials on the podium. I also hope that some students won't whisper or fidget during the exam; the teacher's eyes are sharp." Li Ling glanced at Shi Miao from time to time, speaking with a pointed remark.

The first exam was in Chinese.

After the test papers were distributed, the students picked up their pens and began answering the questions.

After receiving the test paper, Shi Miao browsed through it from beginning to end before starting to write.

Her jade-like fingers gripped the pen, and she filled in the answers quickly and smoothly, as if thinking for even a second longer would be disrespectful to the answer.

Half an hour later, Shi Miao had filled in all the questions, leaving only the essay blank.

For Shi Miao, writing essays was even more difficult than math olympiad problems, and it truly stumped her.

After thinking for a few minutes, Shi Miao gave up, rubbed her forehead, and went to sleep.

"Shi Miao, you can't sleep during the exam." Li Ling walked up to her desk in her high heels, tapping her fingers lightly on the surface as she warned her.

The clattering footsteps irritated Shi Miao even more. She grabbed the exam paper, walked to the podium, and said coldly, "There's no rule against handing in the paper early."

Before Li Ling could react, she walked out of the classroom without looking back.
