Chapter 4: Is your name engraved on the table?

The following day, H City No. 1 Middle School.

"Have you heard? A transfer student is coming to Class 8."

"I know her. Her name is Shi Miao. She's the adopted daughter of the Gu family."

Zeng Tingting looked up at the girl beside her and asked in a low voice, "Is what Xinxin and the others said true?"

Gu Yanxin bit her lip, a glint of light flashing in her eyes, and said softly, "My sister grew up in the countryside, and you know the education there, so Dad pulled some strings to get her in."

Zeng Tingting frowned upon hearing this and said indignantly, "Damn, they're shameless, relying on connections to get in through back channels."

Gu Yanxin's delicate brows furrowed. "Although my sister's grades aren't good, I will do my best to help her. Tingting, you mustn't say that about my sister next time."

Zeng Tingting pouted and hugged her arm, "Xinxin, I know you're just too understanding. Okay, don't be angry."

Before long, the news that Shi Miao was a poor student who got in through connections and came from the countryside spread throughout the entire school.

......

In Class 8 classroom.

The homeroom teacher, Lao Ma, led Shi Miao in from the doorway, and the previously noisy class instantly fell silent.

The girl was wearing a loose-fitting school uniform jacket, with her long hair down and her hands in her pockets.

With her cool and beautiful face, she managed to make even an unremarkable school uniform look cool and unrestrained.

"Damn, wasn't she supposed to be from the countryside? She's so hot."

"Looks like the school beauty is going to be replaced."

Old Ma coughed, turned to look at the girl next to him, and said with a smile, "Shi Miao, please introduce yourself."

Shi Miao reached out and picked up the chalk from the podium, then wrote the two characters "Shi Miao" on the blackboard. A red string was tied around her knuckles, which made her skin look as white as snow.

After finishing writing, Shi Miao turned around and looked at Lao Ma, casually asking, "Alright, where should I sit?"

"Shi Miao has beautiful handwriting. Why don't you find an empty seat and sit down?" A hint of surprise flashed in the eyes of the homeroom teacher, Mr. Ma.

Shi Miao nodded and walked to the empty seat in the corner of the last row of the classroom, then pulled out a chair and sat down casually.

"Holy crap, she actually sat next to Ji Sinian. If the school bully comes, he'll flip the table."

"Yeah, let's wait and see what happens."

Old Ma patted the podium and said in a serious voice, "Alright, students, let's begin class."

Shi Miao rested her arms on the table, her long, slender, pale hands lazily supporting her chin, and as she listened, her eyes began to close.

The next second, he lay down on the table and fell asleep.

Old Ma glanced at Shi Miao out of the corner of his eye and found that she was actually sleeping. He couldn't help but shake his head and sigh.

The class passed quickly.

Ji Sinian walked in through the back door with a head of flowing silver hair.

"Ahhh, Ji Sinian is here, he's so handsome!"

"Holy crap, this is an epic show!"

"I bet the school bully will flip the table."

As soon as Ji Sinian entered the classroom, he noticed that he had a new deskmate. "Tsk, interesting."

Ji Sinian slapped the table and said impatiently, "Hey, who gave you permission to sit here? Don't you know this whole table belongs to me?"

Shi Miao slowly raised his head, his dark eyes concealing a hint of ferocity, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "Your name is engraved on the table?"

"You!" Ji Sinian was surprised that his new deskmate was so beautiful, and he blushed and couldn't speak for a moment.

He scratched his head and muttered under his breath, "Damn!"

Shi Miao narrowed his eyes, his dark pupils cold and irritable. "You're sick."

Ji Sinian coughed lightly, touched the bridge of his nose, and sat down in the empty seat next to Shi Miao.

"That's it? It's over? Nothing happened?"

"It seems even the school bully can't resist Shi Miao's face."

"Sister Miao is a tough woman who doesn't talk much."

Ji Sinian frowned, glanced at them, and said coldly, "Shut up."

...

[Ring ring] The school bell rang.

This was an English class, and as soon as Li Ling entered the classroom, she saw two people sleeping in the back row.

It was one thing before that there was only Ji Sinian, but now there's a transfer student too. What's going on?

Li Ling mocked, "Shi Miao, you've only just arrived and you're already trying to learn from Ji Sinian?"

Shi Miao slightly raised her head, her beautiful eyes misty and moist.

Ji Sinian had only been pretending to sleep, but upon hearing this, he couldn't sit still any longer and raised his voice, "Didn't you brush your teeth this morning? Your breath smells so bad."

Li Ling's face turned ashen. Pointing at the classroom door, she shouted, "Ji Sinian, what kind of attitude is this towards the teacher? Get out!"

"Tch, as if I'm stupid." Ji Sinian shrugged, put his hands in his pockets, and strode out.

Li Ling snorted coldly, "Alright, students, let's begin the lesson. I hope some of you have the self-awareness to know what you should and shouldn't do in class."

"Alright, now I'll ask someone to read this passage aloud."

A hint of disdain flashed in Li Ling's eyes. "Shi Miao, you read it."

Shi Miao suppressed the restlessness in her eyes, lazily stood up, and without even looking at her textbook, blurted out in a perfect London accent, "We can have..."

Li Ling's expression stiffened slightly, but she praised him insincerely, "Hehe, Shi Miao's spoken English is really good."

"Wow, wasn't it said that Shi Miao came from the countryside? That must be a lie."

"Didn't anyone notice that she recited it from memory?"

"Forgive my poor eyesight, but it turns out to be a big shot."

Li Ling patted the table. "Quiet!"

In the following days, Li Ling refused to believe in superstition and would frequently ask Shi Miao for answers.

Surprisingly, she answered fluently.

......

"Brother Chen, should I continue to contact Hakimi's side and ask M to take action?" Ye Chuan glanced at the man resting with his eyes closed in the back seat in the rearview mirror.

Ji Yanchen opened his eyes and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "Yes, keep raising the price."

"Alright." Ye Chuan nodded.

Ji Yanchen suddenly remembered Ji Rou's instructions and told Ye Chuan, "Go to H City No. 1 Middle School."

Ye Chuan raised an eyebrow upon hearing this and teased, "What are you going to school for? To pick up girls, Brother Chen? How could you do that?"

Ji Yanchen's beautifully shaped eyes were half-closed, the deep corners of his eyes revealing a hint of laziness, and he casually asked, "Are you very free?"

"Cough, no."

......

"Brother Chen, we're here. But which class is Ji Sinian in?" Ye Chuan turned to look at the man in the back seat.

Ji Yanchen slightly raised his chin: "Make a phone call and ask."

"Ah! Right." Ye Chuan slapped his forehead, took out his phone, and called Ji Sinian.

"Hello, the number you dialed is temporarily unavailable..."

Ye Chuan frowned. "No one's answering. That kid."

Ji Yanchen's eyes flickered slightly, his voice low and husky, his tone cold and aloof: "Let's go, let's find someone to ask."

"good."

The two then walked to the senior high school building.

"Damn, that girl up ahead looks really hot! Brother Chen, wait here, I'll go check her out." Ye Chuan's eyes lit up as he looked at Shi Miao's back.

He ran up to him and said, "Hey, hello classmate."

Upon hearing this, Shi Miao stopped in her tracks, raised her eyes slightly, her porcelain-white face delicate and beautiful, and lazily asked, "What is it?"

When Ye Chuan saw Shi Miao's face clearly, he was stunned for a moment, a hint of amazement flashing in his eyes. After regaining his senses, he asked with a smile, "Do you know which class Ji Sinian is in?"
