Chapter 11

Chapter 11

At three o'clock in the afternoon, Xu Yao drove to the agreed place.

The suburban resort has a quiet environment, with green mountains shrouded in greenery, and water flowing from the mountain stream slowly flowing outside the small bamboo house.

The warm wind blows through the bamboo forest, bringing with it a rustling sound, making it easy for people to let go of their worries and stress and immerse themselves in the natural scenery.

However, Xu Yao was a little nervous at this moment. She took several deep breaths before pushing the door and getting out of the car.

At noon on the day her sister was brought home, she suddenly received a text message from an unfamiliar number on her mobile phone. The content was very simple - Yaoyao, I am your mother, your biological mother.

She knew each of these words individually, but when they were put together, it took her a lot of effort to understand their meaning.

As early as when her adoptive parents learned that their biological daughter lived in a neighboring city, she had been digesting the fact that she was an imposter.

It wasn't until they carefully and nervously brought her sister home that she spent the entire night completely accepting the fact and preparing to leave.

From the time she learned about her life experience to the time she decided to leave her adoptive parents, she never thought about looking for her biological parents.

Because she knew that if she was the expected child, it would be impossible for her to be missing for more than 20 years without coming to find her. She didn't believe that this was an unintentional mistake.

When she heard from her sister's inner voice that her existence might be a conspiracy, she was only briefly surprised and then accepted it.

How much moral bottom line and conscience does a person who can cruelly abandon his own flesh and blood have?

It's not a famine era, so we can't afford to raise a child.

It’s nothing more than not looking forward to the arrival of the child. What other reason could it be?

If it weren't for her sister's thoughts, she would have thought of this at most.

But my sister's inner thoughts made it clear that their purpose was more than just this.

Looking back now, the timing of that message is far from a coincidence.

If her sister resents her existence and starts to exclude and target her from the first day she returns, the appearance of her biological mother is crucial at this time.

The first time, she might turn a blind eye, but what if her sister gets worse?

If she is always suppressed by her sister, she will have to consider the kindness of her adoptive parents and understand her sister's jealousy. In order to maintain the sister relationship, her adoptive parents will definitely ask her to make concessions.

She can and is willing to give in once or twice, but what about after eight or ten times?

What if her concessions didn't make her sister calm down, but instead made her more aggressive? Would she still be so magnanimous and tolerant?

When she compromises again and again but to no avail, will she feel wronged and uncomfortable?

If her biological mother appears at this time, launches a gentle offensive, and confesses her feelings and begs for forgiveness, how will she respond when she is struggling and entangled?

She will definitely feel aggrieved and even think it's not worth it. Why can biological children bully those who are not? Why should I always tolerate it? It's not me who asked you to take the wrong child!

When she had this dangerous idea, her biological mother seized the opportunity and took advantage of it, which was equivalent to giving her a lifeline. Under her gentle instigation, she might do anything that would be detrimental to her adoptive parents.

It’s really scary when you think about it!

Xu Yao tried hard to calm her complicated emotions at the moment and walked slowly towards the private room designated by the other party.

After standing at the door of the private room, she took a deep breath again and knocked on the door.

Following three soft rings, the woman inside the door said to the person on the other end of the phone, "She's here. Talk to her later."

After the woman hung up the phone, she let out a breath, got up and opened the door.

Looking at the pretty beauty standing outside the door, whose face was 50% similar to hers, Zhou Xinyi's eyes immediately turned red.

She choked with sobs and said nervously, "Thank you for coming to see me."

She knew very well that her appearance would make her daughter confused and helpless, so except for stating her identity when sending messages, she never called herself mother in subsequent contacts.

Xu Yao looked up at her, his gaze quickly sweeping from her tearful eyes to her entire face and all the clothes on her body.

From her skin condition to her clothes and accessories, the woman in front of me exudes the unique grace that comes from a life of luxury. She lives a pretty good life without her daughter.

Xu Yao nodded and said calmly, "Let's go in and talk."

After saying that, she walked straight past her and into the house.

Zhou Xinyi had expected her daughter's indifference, and she did not deliberately dress up to look haggard in order to gain sympathy at first sight.

She had a better way to make her trust and understand her helplessness in a short period of time.

After sitting down, Zhou Xinyi picked up the exquisite teapot to pour tea for her.

"Let me do it."

Xu Yao took the teapot, filled it up for her first, then filled it up for herself, and took a sip elegantly.

Zhou Xinyi's eyes became red again when she saw her daughter being pampered, graceful, considerate and gentle.

She said, "Your adoptive parents raised you very well, I--"

She choked and raised her hand to cover her mouth, tears falling from her eyes.

Because of her beautiful appearance, her whole body exudes a subtle softness, and her eyes are full of tears, which embodies the fragility of rain-hit petals and the pitiful brokenness.

But these had no effect on Xu Yao who was on guard.

The more vulnerable she acted, the more hypocritical she felt.

She just wanted to see how well she could act and how many words she could say that would "touch her".

"I have a meeting in an hour." Xu Yao's cold voice interrupted her self-righteous emotion.

Zhou Xinyi's crying voice choked, and the surprise in her eyes disappeared in a flash.

She quickly wiped away her tears, forced a smile, and said to herself, "I'm sorry, I lost my composure."

"No problem." Xu Yao continued to sip her tea, without any intention of asking or prying.

Such detached calmness made Zhou Xinyi feel helpless.

Why is the situation before her different from what she expected?

In her plan, she had to state her identity directly in her first appearance, arouse her curiosity or anger, and make a deep impression on her at the first moment.

When we contacted each other for the second and third time, I started to play the tender card of confession, gradually lowering her guard.

Wait until she opens her heart, then tell her the reason why I abandoned her. Use the empathy between women to awaken her empathy and alleviate her resentment of being abandoned by her mother.

Finally, use companionship and care to protect her, so that she will become dependent on her unconsciously, and then slowly build a bridge for her to absorb nutrients from the Xu family, once and for all.

The first few steps were all as planned. She read the message and replied, and they even met earlier than she expected.

Isn’t this a manifestation of my daughter’s eagerness?

But what does the current indifference mean?

Zhou Xinyi quickly mobilized her brain cells and came to a conclusion quickly - maybe her daughter was using indifference to accuse her of ruthless abandonment?

Thinking of this, she hurriedly said: "Yaoyao, I know you hate me, hate why I abandoned you, hate--"

"So, why did you abandon me?" Xu Yao interrupted her and asked the answer she wanted to know most.

Even though she might edit it, she just wanted to know.

Zhou Xinyi was stunned again.

Xu Yao saw her surprise clearly, and she immediately asked, "From your situation, it doesn't seem like you can't afford to support me, so why are you abandoning me?"

"If I say I had no choice, would you believe me?" Zhou Xinyi looked at her hesitantly, the tears in her eyes adding a touch of sadness.

"How desperate is it?" Xu Yao pressed. "If you have absolutely no means of livelihood, you should sell me to human traffickers and squeeze out every last bit of my worth. Oh, I get it. Because I'm your daughter, I'm worthless, right?"

Zhou Xinyi's pupils were filled with shock. How could she say such harsh words? In the private detective's report, she was a well-educated lady, gentle, reserved and steady, the eldest daughter of the Xu family!

Zhou Xinyi turned the tables with a pained look on her face: "Yaoyao, how could you say such a thing? You are my flesh and blood. Even if I kill myself, I will never sell you out."

Xu Yao curled her lips and sneered, "You really didn't sell me, otherwise I wouldn't have been picked up by a wealthy family and lived a life of luxury. On the way here, I kept thinking, if I hadn't been adopted by my current adoptive parents, would you still recognize me?"

Xu Yao did not want to reveal the fact that her sister had returned home. As for the true and false daughter, no one else knew the inside story except the backbone of the company and her family.

Since this is a conspiracy, protecting my sister and parents is the top priority.

If the other party knew that my sister had returned home, he would definitely not be able to help but mention it. After all, that would be a better way to lure her into the trap.

It would be best if she didn't know, as she had plenty of time to plan and make sure she caught them all in one fell swoop.

"Of course I will recognize you. No matter who adopts you, it cannot change the fact that you are my own flesh and blood. You can't make such malicious speculations about your mother." Zhou Xinyi suddenly played the sympathy card.

"Mom?" Xu Yao chuckled, "My mom's name is Jiang Xin, not you."

"Yaoyao! How could you do this to me? You can't do this to me! I had a massive hemorrhage when I gave birth to you and was in a coma for three days and three nights. When I woke up, the doctor said you died from lack of oxygen. I didn't believe it and went to the morgue, but all I saw was a cold corpse. It was all your grandmother's fault. If she hadn't felt guilty in her final moments, I wouldn't have known you were still alive!"

Zhou Xinyi cried heart-wrenchingly, as if she was back in that scene of despair, helplessness and guilt again.

Xu Yao just looked at her quietly, with no emotion in her eyes.

In the past, she would have believed this statement without a doubt, but now, she already knew her purpose in advance, and no matter how eloquent she was, she couldn't convince her at all.

She asked without any sympathy, "Don't I have a father? Why wasn't he there when you gave birth? Don't tell me you had a child out of wedlock, and your significant other isn't recognized by grandma. I've become something you don't expect, so grandma wishes I'd die. Only if I die will it not hinder your perfect life of remarriage and wealth, right?"

Zhou Xinyi was so frightened that the corners of her mouth twitched, her body trembled, and she squeezed out countless tears to cover up her tears.

Why did you steal my line, damn it!
