Chapter 38: Slap in the face

General Yun was frightened by Doctor Li's action. The contents were actually laxatives. He had been in the court for so many years, so he must have known Doctor Li's position in the Imperial Hospital. If something happened to Doctor Li in the Yun Mansion...

General Yun exclaimed in alarm, "Doctor Li, this is not possible! Absolutely not possible!"

Doctor Li put down the cloth bag in his hand and looked at General Yun as if he was a fool. "This is just ordinary flour. Why are you so nervous, General?"

"Flour!?" General Yun looked at Doctor Li in disbelief. "Doctor Li, isn't this a laxative? Could you have misjudged me?"

Imperial Physician Li had never had his medical skills questioned in his many years in the palace. He simply picked up the cloth bag and threw it at General Yun's face, snorting coldly, "General, is there something wrong with your sense of smell? If so, I suggest you seek treatment as soon as possible."

General Yun was choked by the flour that hit his face, "Cough cough cough..." A lot of flour went into his mouth because of coughing. He spat a few times and tasted it. It was indeed the taste of flour.

Seeing this, Yun Wanwan smiled and stabbed General Yun in the heart again: "General Yun, I have proven my innocence, so can I leave now?"

Yun Wanwan's words reminded General Yun of something. If Yun Wanwan hadn't drugged Yun Yaoyao, then this had all been Yun Yaoyao's own doing, right from the beginning. Wouldn't that mean he, too, had been used as a pawn by Yun Yaoyao?

When General Yun thought of this, he immediately called in the guards at the door, "Come here! Take the Second Young Lady away and lock her up in the ancestral hall so she can reflect on her mistakes!"

When General Yun said that he wanted to lock Yun Yaoyao up in the ancestral hall for reflection, her face immediately turned pale. Her knees softened and she knelt on the ground. She crawled to General Yun's side and grabbed his legs tightly, begging for mercy on her own behalf. This was more sincere than the hypocritical plea she had just made for Yun Wanwan.

"Daddy! Daddy! It wasn't my daughter who did this! It was all Yun Wanwan's fault! Yun Wanwan is the one who framed my daughter. You have to believe me!"

General Yun was truly ruthless when he felt the need. Facing Yun Yaoyao's plea for mercy, he kicked her out and sternly said, "The evidence is all there. It's obvious that you framed your sister, and you even acted like a victim to get me to deal with her. Yun Yaoyao, even if Wanwan isn't your biological sister, you can't be so cruel, right? Besides, you're a fake! She's the real one!"

"You should think before you act. Don't take advantage of your mother and I's love for you and do whatever you want!"

When Yun Yaoyao heard General Yun say that she was a fake, all the strength in her body was drained away in that instant. She just looked up at General Yun blankly, and it was not until the guards outside the door came in and dragged her out that she reacted and tried to struggle. But it was too late. Before she could struggle, the guards stuffed her mouth, and she could only make whimpering sounds.

After Yun Yaoyao was dragged away, Yun Wanwan and General Yun were the only ones left in the Yun Mansion's study. Imperial Physician Li had no interest in witnessing government secrets, so after proving Yun Wanwan's innocence, he excused himself and left.

When only the father and daughter were left together, the atmosphere became strangely awkward. However, Yun Wanwan didn't plan to stay in the Yun Mansion for too long. After Yun Yaoyao was dragged away by the guards, she wanted to leave.

Before she could even open her mouth, General Yun spoke first, saying, "Wanwan, whatever compensation you want, I'll agree to it as long as it's something you ask for."

Yun Wanwan paused as she was about to leave. She sneered and looked at General Yun, "General Yun, are you trying to compensate me for your second daughter?"

General Yun subconsciously licked his dry lips, his eyes wandering. He didn't even need to reply; Yun Wanwan knew he was guilty. Perhaps even the punishment he had just inflicted on Yun Yaoyao wasn't his own fault.

General Yun pursed his lips, as if about to say something, but was interrupted by Yun Wanwan, who said coldly, "No need. I don't need General Yun to do anything. All you need is for General Yun to ensure that the Yun family members appear less often in front of me."

After Yun Wanwan finished speaking, she didn't wait for General Yun to reply and turned around and left with Qingyao without even looking back.

After leaving the Yun Mansion, Qingyao asked Yun Wanwan, "Miss, did you anticipate that Bisheng wouldn't give the drug to the Second Miss, and therefore gave her a bag of flour?"

Yun Wanwan shook her head. "No, if she hadn't drugged Yun Yaoyao, we would have been watching the Yun Mansion make a fool of itself. If Bi Sheng had drugged Yun Yaoyao, then it would have been Yun Yaoyao who suffered. No matter what, I would have seen her make a fool of herself. Anyway, it suits my heart."

When Yun Wanwan came, she took the Yun Mansion's carriage directly. In order to avoid having to walk back, Yun Wanwan specifically asked the coachman to park the carriage across the street from the Yun Mansion so that she could go back quickly to make money.

Before they reached the entrance of the alley, Yun Wanwan and Qingyao heard some noise coming from the other side. Yun Wanwan frowned and hesitated for a while about whether to meddle in other people's business. Finally, she took Qingyao to the alley.

In that alley

"Who are you? What do you want to do?" The girl straightened her back stiffly, but stepped back involuntarily.

The malicious smiles on the faces of the two young men blocking the entrance of the alley made her feel cold in her heart.

"Why are you running so fast, sister? It's such a nice day, and there's no one around. Wouldn't it be perfect for you to have some fun with your brothers?" Two men approached her.

She had originally come out to buy some things for her family, but unexpectedly on the way back she met a few people who were obviously not from the Central Plains. Because that was the only way home, she had to pass through this road no matter what.

She originally thought that if she passed by them quickly, there would be no problem, but what she never expected was that before she could pass by, those foreigners would speak words she couldn't understand and approach her.

She subconsciously dropped the things in her arms and ran away. In a hurry, she hid in an alley, thinking she had escaped, but when she was about to leave the alley, she ran into those foreigners again.

The girl suddenly turned around and ran back, but after just two steps, she felt despair.

At the other end of the alley, there was a man standing with his arms folded, and a lewd smile on his face, exactly the same as the man in front of him.
