Chapter 6: Touching the Reverse Scale

When Yun Yaoyao said this, everyone was shocked.

The Queen was about to speak when she heard the eunuch's call: "Your Majesty, Concubine Yun is here."

The Queen pursed her lips slightly, clearly unhappy at being interrupted, but she still said, "Why don't you invite Concubine Yun in?"

Concubine Yun walked in quickly. She was extremely beautiful, and when she walked lightly with lotus steps, she exuded the fragrance of lotus flowers. She was wearing colorful clothes that matched her face very well.

Yun Wanwan glanced at her and followed her memory to find out the identity of Concubine Yun.

This Concubine Yun was the adopted daughter that General Yun brought back from the battlefield. She was sent to the palace because she was very beautiful. However, she was also quite capable and was favored by all the six palaces because of her appearance. Even the queen had to give her some respect when she saw her.

After Concubine Yun came in, she first glanced at Yun Yaoyao, and then gave the Queen a half-hearted greeting, "Your Highness, I greet the Queen."

The Queen nodded and said, "Please take a seat, Concubine Yun. You have come at the right time. We have a difficult matter to deal with."

After listening to the Empress's story, Concubine Yun didn't even look at Yun Wanwan. She straightened her sleeves with a haughty expression and said, "So that's what happened. I have indeed heard about it, but I don't know if it's true or not."

Yun Yaoyao naturally smiled even more happily now that she had received help. "Your Majesty, look, Concubine Yun said she had heard of it, so it's clear that this subject wasn't lying."

"Yaoyao, don't talk nonsense. It's hard to say for sure." Concubine Yun's demeanor became more friendly as she looked at Yun Yaoyao. "After all, Wanwan has suffered a lot outside. I don't know how she got through all these years. There's nothing wrong with learning some skills to help herself."

As soon as these words were spoken, it was almost confirmed that Yun Wanwan was a witch, and she was even described as so despicable that her vicious heart was exposed.

The queen felt a little strange when she saw Yun Wanwan, whose expression did not change at all and whose back was still straight.

She looked at Yun Yaoyao and asked, "Then what evidence do you have?"

Yun Yaoyao immediately told everything that had happened before in detail, of course, she concealed the things she had done.

Otherwise, before the Queen could believe that Yun Wanwan was a witch, she would have to punish Yun Yaoyao first.

After listening to Yun Yaoyao's explanation, the Queen nodded. "What about you, Yun Wanwan? What do you want to say?"

"Your Majesty," Yun Wanwan stood up and stood beside Yun Yaoyao, her expression still neither humble nor arrogant. "Noble Concubine Yun is right. I lived among the common people in my early years, so I always had to learn something to support myself. However, I didn't learn any sorcery, but rather the art of alchemy."

Before anyone else could say anything, Yun Wanwan had already taken out a talisman and said, "If Your Majesty doesn't believe me, I can demonstrate my magic to you right now."

She made a hand gesture and drew a talisman with cinnabar. As soon as she stopped writing, the talisman paper turned into ashes and floated in the air. At the same time, a peach forest suddenly appeared in front of everyone.

The queen was so frightened that she held on to the palace maid beside her, but this peach forest was like a paradise. Not only were there petals falling, but there were also bursts of birds singing. There was really nothing scary about it. Instead, it was extremely beautiful and fascinating.

The illusion dissipated, and Yun Wanwan looked at the Queen with a smile. "Your Majesty, if I were using some kind of sorcery, how could I dare use the talismans and paper used by Taoists, let alone cinnabar?"

The Queen came to her senses and was a little bit unbelieving, "Did you really use the talisman to conjure this?"

Yun Wanwan smiled and nodded.

Seeing that the Queen actually believed what Yun Wanwan said, Yun Yaoyao was so anxious that she jumped up and down. She ignored Concubine Yun's wink and walked straight in front of Yun Wanwan.

"Empress, please don't trust her. She's using witchcraft!"

"Yun Yaoyao." The Queen frowned displeasedly. "You said she used witchcraft, but Yun Wanwan also produced evidence. But where's your evidence?"

Yun Yaoyao pinched her palms and suddenly turned back to look at Yun Wanwan. "She's just an illegitimate daughter. How could someone with such a lowly status have the opportunity to learn alchemy, and learn it so well? I think all this is just a trick of this witch!"

"Second Miss Yun," Rong Chengxuan, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly said, "Please be careful with your words and actions. Saying these things in front of me, do you really want to die?"

Yun Yaoyao was shocked. How could she have forgotten that although Rong Chengxuan was the regent, he was once an illegitimate child? Wasn't her words just calling Rong Chengxuan a despicable person?

She clenched her fists and was almost on the verge of tears. It was one thing to be spoken to like this by the man she liked, but it was humiliating to be seen by so many people.

"Forget it..." The queen shook her head and pinched her swollen and painful eyebrows.

This sentence has already given Yun Yaoyao a way out, but Yun Yaoyao was still ignorant. She stood in the middle with tears dripping from her eyes, as if she had suffered great injustice.

Rong Chengxuan stood up and said, "It seems that Miss Yun is not convinced by my words and does not know her fault. Then drag her away and give her thirty lashes."

Being beaten with thirty sticks for a girl is like taking away half her life. But the person who said this was His Royal Highness the Regent, and it also touched Rong Chengxuan's sore spot on the issue of illegitimate children. It was a great mercy to spare Yun Yaoyao's life.

Yun Yaoyao finally realized she was scared and knelt down crying, "Your Highness Prince An, I know I was wrong. I will never say anything nonsense again. Please, Your Highness Prince An, let me go."

But no matter how much she begged for mercy, it was useless. A guard came over and tried to drag Yun Yaoyao away.

Yun Yaoyao struggled and was dragged away, but Rong Chengxuan did not sit down. Instead, he walked towards Yun Wanwan.

Seeing Rong Chengxuan getting closer and closer, Yun Wanwan was not afraid at all. She looked directly at Rong Chengxuan and asked, "What are your instructions, Your Highness Prince An?"

Rong Chengxuan curled his lips, but there was no smile in his eyes. "I have long heard that Miss Yun is extremely talented. Seeing her today, I can see that she is indeed so talented. Her illusions are truly dazzling and overwhelming."

How did he hear it?

Yun Wanwan had always been living among the common people and had no idea who he was. Even if he had really heard about it, Yun Wanwan in the past was not "talented". This person was really talking nonsense.

"In that case," Rong Chengxuan said in a voice that was neither too loud nor too soft, but just loud enough for everyone to hear, "This prince is quite interested in these things. I would like to invite Miss Yun to the palace. I wonder if Miss Yun would do me the honor?"

Yun Wanwan couldn't refuse, so she nodded. "How dare I refuse the request made by His Highness Prince An?"

This somewhat resentful remark caused Rong Chengxuan to chuckle, but unfortunately the smile was too short and too quick. Before Yun Wanwan could see clearly, she could only see Rong Chengxuan's face return to its cold state.
