Ye Lan entered after Yun Wanwan. Rong Chengxuan dragged him to the stone wall and used him as a human lighter. Rong Chengxuan had Ye Lan hold up the tinder and illuminate the entire stone wall. He could see densely carved patterns on the surrounding stone walls. Perhaps due to the terrain and the constant water seepage, some of the patterns had rotted away, emitting an indescribable odor.
What was terrifying was that these patterns continued to extend into the distance along the stone wall. Yun Wanwan took the tinderbox from Ye Lan's hand and vaguely saw that the cave was about the size of a modern basketball court.
"Master, Miss Yun," Ye Lan squatted on the ground, looking at the ground that was not spared, and was covered with densely packed things of unknown origin. "What is this?"
Yun Wanwan held it, staring at the ground beneath her feet. After a long while, she slowly recited a very strange and unfamiliar syllable and said, "This is a spell."
"Spell?"
"Well, these spells are all repetitive, and they only say one sentence."
"What?"
Yun Wanwan smiled faintly and said, "You don't want to know that," then turned to Rong Chengxuan.
Ye Lan turned around with the fire starter. Perhaps he was a little restless because of the dense talismans he saw. Moreover, there was no light down there all year round. The pitch-black place and these strange spells made Ye Lan want to escape for the first time.
He calmed himself down and looked at Rong Chengxuan, who was not far away. Perhaps Rong Chengxuan was born with some kind of divine power. The moment Ye Lan saw him, the fear he had just felt instantly disappeared. He shouted to Rong Chengxuan, "Master! These are all the things here. Should we continue going down?"
Rong Chengxuan nodded and pointed in a direction to Ye Lan, "That's where we're going. We're almost there."
Ye Lan looked up in the direction Rong Chengxuan pointed, and reflexively fired the fire starter in his hand in that direction. When he saw clearly the direction Rong Chengxuan was pointing, he took a few steps back.
——A coffin suddenly appeared on the side of the cave entrance.
Even though Ye Lan was used to these supernatural things, seeing a coffin suddenly appear at the entrance of the cave was still a very chilling thing. His head suddenly buzzed, and goose bumps appeared all over his body, but his eyes could not help but continue to look in the direction of Rong Chengxuan's hand -
Compared to Ye Lan, Yun Wanwan was much bolder. She simply took Rong Chengxuan's hand and walked in the direction Rong Chengxuan pointed. As the name suggested, the sooner she saw what Rong Chengxuan wanted to see, the sooner she could go up. She was completely fed up with this ancient tomb.
But when Yun Wanwan brought Rong Chengxuan in, she no longer felt that way. This ancient tomb was like a paradise to her!
Yun Wanwan let go of Rong Chengxuan's hand, and walked around the small cave with a fire starter, ignoring the coffin at the door. This was her paradise.
This made Yun Wanwan complain in her heart about the owner of this ancient tomb. What kind of pervert was he that would put his own corpse together with so many books? Wouldn't this scare anyone who came in half to death?
But when Yun Wanwan thought of the spells that had just been carved on the road leading to the small cave, she suddenly understood that if he was not that good, the owner of the ancient tomb would not be the pervert she was talking about.
Yun Wanwan casually picked up a book from the stone wall. She didn't know if she was lucky or what, but when she opened it, she found that the content inside was about metaphysics.
After quickly flipping through the book, Yun Wanwan picked up the next one, also about metaphysics... and the next one, also about metaphysics...
Yun Wanwan picked up four or five books in quick succession, all of them on metaphysics. She beckoned Rong Chengxuan to come over quickly, and with a smile on her face, she said, "Rong Chengxuan, how come this tomb of the previous dynasty you mentioned has so many books on metaphysics? If I hadn't known I was in an ancient tomb, I would have thought I was in the library of some metaphysical master."
Almost immediately after Yun Wanwan finished speaking, Rong Chengxuan lowered his head to look at her. He saw that her expression remained unchanged, and he didn't see anything amiss. However, Rong Chengxuan still felt a tinge of unease.
Yun Wanwan paused, then continued, "There's one thing I just can't understand. Rong Chengxuan, ever since we came here, you've acted like you knew something was going on. Unlike Ye Lan and I, who knew nothing about this ancient tomb, you seem to have come here with a purpose."
"So we have come here. Rong Chengxuan, can you tell me why you came here?" Finally, when Yun Wanwan finished speaking, she raised her head and looked straight at Rong Chengxuan. The determination in her eyes almost burned Rong Chengxuan's eyes red.
Under the candlelight, Yun Wanwan's bright face appeared blurry, but still beautiful.
Rong Chengxuan knew that Yun Wanwan had already seen this step. It was impossible to hide it now. Besides, he didn't want to hide it from Yun Wanwan in the first place.
He took a deep breath and told Yun Wanwan the real reason for his visit to this ancient tomb. "As soon as I recognized this as a tomb from the previous dynasty, I knew what was hidden inside. I came here because of these things."
"Yeah." Yun Wanwan nodded, folding her arms and leaning against the stone wall. "I know all this. Tell me something I don't know."
"I suspect the previous dynasty has some connection to Lingyue Valley." Rong Chengxuan frankly expressed his doubts to Yun Wanwan. "I came here to prove that Lingyue Valley is connected to the previous dynasty."
After Rong Chengxuan finished speaking, Yun Wanwan's playful expression disappeared. She looked at Rong Chengxuan with a complicated expression, "But Rong Chengxuan, Lingyue Valley has been destroyed. Even if you can prove that the previous dynasty was connected to Lingyue Valley, what does it matter?"
"At least I know that it wasn't an accident when the Zhenbei Marquis Mansion threw me into Lingyue Valley, but it was intentional." Rong Chengxuan's long eyelashes drooped, covering his eyes. It was impossible to tell what expression he had at the moment, but Yun Wanwan could still feel that Rong Chengxuan was sad.
“Rong Chengxuan…” Yun Wanwan took the initiative to hold Rong Chengxuan’s hand. “After we get out, I’ll accompany you back to the Zhenbei Marquis Mansion.”
Yun Wanwan knew that ever since Rong Chengxuan set up his own business, he had never returned to the Zhenbei Marquis Mansion.
