Chapter 312 Salted Egg Yolk

Upon hearing this, Yinzhen went to court. Before leaving, he told Changning to take care of her health and rest when she had time. She hadn't slept all night, and she looked exhausted.

As for the two sons...

For once, Yinzhen did not urge them to go to the study, but only asked them to take good care of his sister and mother.

Hongyan and Hongzhao both nodded obediently.

Yinzhen also summoned Zhang Bao and told him to come see him immediately if Su Peisheng found anything.

Not long after, just as Changning was about to call for breakfast, Hutu Li slowly woke up.

"Mother..." Hutu's voice was a little weak, but she seemed to be in good spirits. She no longer had a fever or allergy symptoms, and it seemed that she just needed to rest for a few days.

Seeing that she had finally woken up, Changning finally felt relieved.

"Awake? Are you tired? Hungry? Thirsty?"

Changning quickly poured her a glass of water; after boiling for so long, her body must be dehydrated.

Hongyan and Hongzhao also hurried over.

"Sister! Sister! You're finally awake! You've been sleeping for so long, we've all been keeping watch over you all night." Hongzhao tucked her in. "You can't use anything recklessly this time."

Hutu was completely bewildered. She only remembered feeling very cold and unwell at night, and then losing consciousness. When she woke up again, she saw her mother and two younger brothers by her bedside, which puzzled her.

"What time is it? It's almost eight o'clock. What are you two still doing here? Aren't you going to the study? What are you doing guarding me? Am I sick?"

When Changning saw that she still had the energy to talk so much after waking up, she knew that everything must be alright.

"Drink some quickly."

Hutu also had many doubts, but she still drank half a cup of tea from her mother's hand to moisten her throat.

Hongzhao, who couldn't hold back his words, hurriedly said upon seeing that his sister had finally woken up, "You're not sick, you've been framed! Last night, I was sleeping soundly, half asleep, when I saw Granny Zhang bring a lot of people to check my room. Only then did I realize that the problem was with you. Sister, you're seriously ill this time!"

Hutu still instinctively retorted, "Nonsense, you're the one who's seriously ill. Who would want to harm me? I haven't offended anyone."

Hongzhao pouted: "Isn't it just those palace servants who are going to be dealt with by Mother? The people from the Imperial Household Department and the imperial physicians, they can't escape the consequences. My brother has guessed it pretty accurately."

Seeing that what he said sounded plausible, Hutuli couldn't help but believe him a little and looked up at her mother and Hongyan.

"What's going on? Is someone really trying to frame me? Oh my god! I'm really in deep trouble!"

Changning helped her sit up, still worried about her health: "You had an allergic reaction and had a fever last night. But Doctor Zhou prescribed medicine, and the fever has subsided now. Is there anything else that feels uncomfortable? Does your head still hurt? Do you have any strength?"

Hutuli stretched his limbs and nodded: "I'm not very strong, but otherwise I'm fine."

"That's good."

So, Changning then recounted the whole story, with Hongyan and Hongzhao adding their own details.

Upon learning the truth, Hutuli flew into a rage: "These damned lackeys! They're blind! How dare they fight back?! It's lucky it was me this time; if it were my other younger siblings, I don't know if they would have survived! Mother, they must be severely punished this time! Kill them to uphold justice!"

Changning thought to herself that her daughter was also a person with a strong temper, and was definitely not a cowardly and patient person. She nodded and said, "Don't worry about that. We have some clues now. Once we catch those people in one fell swoop, your mother will definitely give you justice."

Hutuli clenched her fists so tightly that her knuckles cracked, wishing she could deal with those people herself.

"This incident is a lesson for us all. Don't assume that the palace is completely safe; it can still be fraught with danger. Everyone has their own selfish desires, and you should never place your hopes on others, even your closest relatives."

Listening to their mother's teachings, the three of them nodded silently.

This was indeed a shock to them. Who could have imagined that the palace servants, who were always so respectful, obsequious, and fawning, would dare to plot against their master for their own selfish desires? It was simply unheard of.

In their minds, their birth was natural and their class was fixed. They were used to being high and mighty. Although they didn't abuse their servants like others did, they didn't treat them as equals because the power and ability they displayed were too weak and they were not on the same level.

But even an ant can one day shake an elephant.

When Yinzhen returned from court, he heard that Hutuli had woken up and was having a meal with Changning, Hongyan, and Hongzhao. He quickly went inside.

Since Hutuli had just recovered from her illness and couldn't eat anything too greasy, a bowl of millet porridge, a plate of jujube paste cake, yam cake, and rose pastry were specially prepared for her.

Hutuli has a rather strong palate. When Yinzhen came in, she was pestering Changning, saying she wanted to eat a salted duck egg.

"No, you should soothe your stomach and drink some millet porridge."

Changning's attitude was very firm.

Hutu pouted and whined, "Mother! Mother! I'll just eat a little bit, half a salted egg yolk! I can't drink this porridge without the salted egg yolk..."

Yinzhen chuckled. Hu Tuli's personality was exactly the same as Yao Xian's. They were both extremely picky about food and both liked to eat salted duck eggs with oil, saying that the yolks were especially delicious with porridge.

"Alright, alright, you can only eat a little. It's really hard to eat just a little bit." Changning finally softened.

Seeing this, Hongzhao also exclaimed, "Mother, I want some too! Salted egg yolk is so delicious! Are there any desserts or dishes made specifically with salted egg yolk?"

"Yes, you can make salted egg yolk chicken wings, salted egg yolk baked pumpkin, salted egg yolk eggplant, salted egg yolk noodles, salted egg yolk spare ribs, and salted egg yolk bitter melon!"

Yinzhen chuckled and interjected, "You're making my mouth water. It's amazing how much you know about food."

When they saw their father enter, the three children prepared to bow, but Yinzhen casually waved them off, saying, "Why bother with so many rules with your father? Just eat quietly."

Hutuli said with a grin, "Father, you like salted egg yolks too?"

"Yes, it's really good, but you still need to control the amount. No matter how delicious the food is, you can't eat too much. You have to cherish what you have and take care of your health."

Hearing their father's instructions, the three children nodded obediently.

Yinzhen also sat down and ate with them.

However, Hongzhao couldn't help but ask, "Mother, can salted egg yolk be eaten with bitter melon? I hate bitter melon the most, will it taste good if we put them together?"
