Chapter 108 Further Inquiry

Dr. Hu, driven by his pride as a doctor, immediately turned and left.
Seeing this, Gu Jin glared at his younger brother and quickly followed up with a smile to explain.
"Aunt Zhao, why is Grandma so troubled?"
Gu Renjie looked at Zhao Mama, who seemed dazed. If he wasn't mistaken, Zhao Mama must know the inside story.
Meeting Gu Renjie's questioning gaze, Zhao's mother sighed slightly and recounted to Gu Renjie what the old lady had found out.
"This old servant knows that the old lady is taking all the blame for the young lady's suffering upon herself. However, it is a case of scheming against the unsuspecting, so the blame should be placed on those heartless people."
At first, the old lady thought that the Li family had simply switched daughters with the Gu family.
It wasn't until that day, when she overheard Gu Shuyan talking to her maid outside the North Courtyard, mentioning that the Li family had moved to the capital and that Gu Yingxue had even taken over two successful shops there, that the old lady realized what kind of person the Gu family had been supporting all these years.
Gu Renjie never expected that the Li family would dare to do such a thing. The Gu family didn't investigate the matter of the switched daughters, and these people really thought that everyone in the Gu family was a fool.
"Aunt Zhao, please take care of Grandma here."
After Gu Renjie finished speaking, he turned around and went back to the front yard. A short while later, a group of people left the Marquis's residence and went straight to the most bustling street in the capital.
When the old lady fainted, the mansion was thrown into chaos. Seeing that no one was paying attention to Gu Yingxue's commotion, Fei'er found a maid in the courtyard to carry Gu Yingxue away.
"Quickly go find a doctor."
While dismissing the maid, Fei'er wiped the sweat from Gu Yingxue's brow.
Chunxiang heard the commotion and rushed out of the house, just in time to see Gu Yingxue being carried into the house covered in blood.
"What's wrong, Miss?"
Chunxiang grabbed one of the maids beside her and asked.
"Miss was flogged twenty times by the old lady, and then the old lady suddenly fell into a coma. We don't know what happened, alas!"
The maid sighed as she quickly followed him into the room.
Upon hearing this, Chunxiang's eyes flickered for a moment, and then she seemed to suddenly understand something.
Watching the crowd coming and going, Chunxiang's eyes darted around, and she dashed out in a flash.
Gu Shuyan and Madam Ji were personally invited back to the Marquis's residence by Gu Yingjie.
Upon seeing Gu Yingjie suddenly appear at the Duke of Anguo's residence, not only was Gu Shuyan startled, but even Ouyang Jing was taken aback.
"Alright, now is not the time to talk. Mother and sister should go back and check on things first!"
Gu Yingjie's gaze swept over the three people, and when he looked at Ouyang Jing, he couldn't help but linger for a second longer. However, it was only for a second before Gu Yingjie helped Ji Shi walk out.
"What did the imperial physician say?"
As Gu Shuyan followed Gu Yingjie outside, she asked a question.
"When I came out, the imperial physician hadn't arrived yet, but judging from my grandmother's condition, it didn't seem very optimistic. Also, my grandmother had just finished beating Gu Yingxue before she fainted."
Gu Yingjie told Gu Shuyan what he knew. Upon hearing this, Gu Shuyan paused in her steps as she was walking out, then turned around and ran back inside.
In no time at all, Gu Shuyan arrived at a quiet courtyard.
Looking at the three characters 'Bai Fu Yuan' hanging high on the plaque, Gu Shuyan took a deep breath before knocking hard on the courtyard gate.
