Chapter 12 Consider the Owner Before Beating the Dog
Seeing Gu Shuyan's attitude, Chunxiang immediately stepped forward and said arrogantly, "Miss, this ginseng soup was personally brewed by our young lady. Our young lady instructed me to watch you drink it. Aren't you showing a lot of disrespect to our young lady?"
Chunxiang remained arrogant, but Gu Shuyan sneered upon hearing this, "Why should I, the eldest daughter of a noble family, put the daughter of a village woman in my eyes? And you, a mere lowly servant, dare to shout at me like that."
At this point, Gu Shuyan said to Pearl beside her, "Slap her."
"Yes, Miss."
Pearl had long disliked Chunxiang, and upon hearing Gu Shuyan's instructions, she was overjoyed and immediately rolled up her sleeves to launch an attack on Chunxiang from both sides.
Chunxiang, who was used to throwing her weight around in the mansion because of her status as a head maid, was caught off guard by the sudden beating and didn't react for a moment.
By the time she finally came to her senses, Pearl had already finished and was standing in front of Gu Shuyan.
"Young Miss," Chunxiang said angrily, her eyes wide. "Even when beating a dog, you have to consider its owner! Our young lady kindly made you soup, and you not only refused to drink it, but also beat and scolded me. Aren't you afraid our young lady will blame you?"
"What a fine saying, 'You have to consider the owner before beating a dog.' What use is a dog that can't even tell who its owner is?"
Upon hearing this, Gu Shuyan's sharp gaze swept across Chunxiang's face. She grabbed the medicine bowl beside her and smashed it at Chunxiang. Chunxiang glared angrily at Gu Shuyan after being hit like this, but when she met Gu Shuyan's terrifying gaze, she couldn't help but tremble and collapse to the ground.
Without getting a response from Chunxiang, Gu Shuyan continued, "Go back and tell your young lady that if she wants to blame me, she can come to my North Courtyard. I, Gu Shuyan, will accompany her to the end."
Anyway, she never intended to be good friends with Gu Yingxue in this life. Rather than pretending to be good friends, she might as well tear off the mask early and see how Gu Yingxue would react.
Seeing Chunxiang still standing there in a daze, Pearl stepped forward and shouted, "The young lady has spoken, why aren't you getting out of here?"
Chunxiang was already quite frightened by Gu Shuyan, and when Pearl yelled at her like that, she immediately scrambled out of the room.
Watching Chunxiang's departing figure, Pearl couldn't help but chuckle.
"Miss is truly mighty. That Chunxiang has bullied people quite a bit in the past. After what happened today, let's see if she dares to act arrogantly again."
"You're happy to see her get the short end of the stick?"
Gu Shuyan looked at Pearl's gloating face, then turned back and raised an eyebrow at her.
Pearl was startled by her serious expression and was momentarily confused about what her young mistress meant.
Fortunately, a smile appeared on Gu Shuyan's serious face the next second. "Anyway, I'm very happy."
"By the way, Miss, what should we do with the ginseng soup that Miss Yingxue sent?"
Pearl was happy, but she didn't forget the ginseng soup that had been placed on the table that night.
Although Gu Yingxue is no longer the real young lady of the Marquis's mansion, the madam clearly still cares about this adopted daughter.
Now that the other party has personally cooked soup for their young lady, if their young lady doesn't drink it, and this gets back to the madam, it will inevitably cause a rift between the mother and daughter.
Upon hearing this, Gu Shuyan couldn't help but glance at Pearl again. Seeing that the other person's worried expression seemed genuine, she couldn't help but start to have some reservations.
"You can drink it!" Gu Shuyan replied nonchalantly.
"What? Miss, this is ginseng soup for you, how can I drink it?"
