Chapter 225 Parting Instructions
The guard clasped his hands in a fist salute to the crown prince, who nodded in response. He left two men to protect the woman, while he, escorted by another group, headed out of the city.
"Young Master!"
Seeing that the prince was about to get off the carriage, the woman quickly reached out and grabbed the hem of his clothes.
Seeing the reluctance in the woman's eyes, the Crown Prince smiled gently and said, "Don't worry, they will bring you to me in a little while. Just stay in the carriage and behave yourself."
"Um."
The woman nodded obediently, but her eyes were still full of reluctance.
As he mounted his horse, the Crown Prince's previous gloom vanished instantly. It was just a trip to Ganzhou! He could treat it as a leisurely outing. After all, he wasn't the one doing the work, so why should he feel uncomfortable?
Thus, the crown prince, who was suddenly sent to inspect the people's conditions, unknowingly walked right into someone else's trap.
Outside the Gu residence, members of the Gu family were seeing Gu Renjie off.
Ji was naturally happy to see her son's success, but compared to the disappointment brought by his departure, that happiness faded considerably.
"I don't know what the weather will be like in Ganzhou, so I packed two sets of clothes for each season for you. If you need anything when you get there, be sure to get it for you. Also, the journey is long, so be sure to make sure you have enough food and drink, and don't let yourself go hungry or thirsty."
"Mother, don't worry, I'll only be gone for a little over a month, I'll be back soon."
Gu Renjie gave Ji Shi a comforting hug before turning to Gu Yingjie. "Second brother, I'm afraid I won't be able to see your wedding, but I've already prepared the gifts for you. They're in your study."
As he spoke, Gu Renjie looked at Gu Jin and the old lady Gu, "Grandmother, Father, please take good care of yourselves, especially Grandmother, don't be too cold in this weather."
"Alright, alright, Grandmother has remembered."
The old lady nodded and smiled with satisfaction. Although she felt sorry for her grandson, she was more experienced and therefore not as sad as Ji Shi.
"Big brother, we're waiting for you to come back."
Gu Shuyan still had a smile on her face, and Gu Renjie nodded to her in agreement.
After Gu Renjie boarded the carriage and left, everyone from the Gu family went to Yunxiang Courtyard together.
“Mother, the tutors we mentioned before have all been found. However, since my second brother doesn’t have a proper wife, we can’t keep raising Yuxin and Yuhe with my aunt forever. So Xiang Wan and I discussed having them moved to the courtyard next to the main house, where Xiang Wan, my aunt, can help with their education.”
Upon hearing this, Gu Shuyan and the old lady were clearly surprised that Gu Jin would consider these things.
"But Aunt Qiao might not agree so easily."
The old lady did not object to what the two said, but the matter of Gu Jiezong moving to the front yard had already caused everyone enough trouble, and the old lady really did not want Aunt Qiao to quarrel again because of her two daughters.
“In my opinion, it would be better to raise the two younger sisters with their grandmother. Mother has to manage all the household affairs on weekdays, and the two younger sisters are already working quite hard.”
"Most importantly, although my mother is my aunt, there is still a distance between us. But my grandmother is different. It is not uncommon for daughters of large families to be raised by their grandmothers. I suppose Aunt Qiao wouldn't dare to say anything."
Most importantly, Gu Shuyan didn't want to give anyone cause for gossip or cause unnecessary harm to the Ji family.
Fortunately, Gu Yuxin and Gu Yuhe are good-natured. Raised under the care of the old lady, as long as they stay away from Aunt Qiao, they can get good marriages in the future.
