No one knew who he was apologizing to, because no one had time to pay attention to him right now.
The old woman watched as Gu Shuyan fed the medicine, but seeing that Gu Zongjie was already suffering from the poison, she felt relieved.
Why did you commit such a heinous act?
Gu Shuyan looked at the old woman and spoke slowly.
Upon hearing this, the old woman looked up and then gave Gu Shuyan a relieved smile.
"Since you're preparing the antidote, young lady, don't you understand why I'm doing this?"
As she spoke, the old woman's gaze swept over everyone present, finally settling on Gu Yuxin. "Second Miss, you are very clever, unlike the others, who all think they are exceptionally intelligent, yet they don't realize that the entire Second Branch is in the hands of a woman like me."
The old woman was implying that Gu Yuxin was the only one in the entire second branch of the family who had discovered her ulterior motives.

Gu Shuyan's gaze was fixed on the old woman.

Watching the departing figures of the crowd, a tear slowly slid from the old woman's eye. Then, a pill fell into her mouth, and her eyes slowly closed.
"Daughter, your mother has come to find you." The old woman whispered, then collapsed to one side.
By the time the maids and servants around her realized what was happening, it was too late to save the old woman.
Inside Gu Renjie and Meng Wei's new home, an exquisite box was placed in front of Meng Wei. Hearing that it was a wedding gift, Meng Wei opened it without thinking.
"My wife, look what I found!"
Meng Wei's hand had just touched the box, and before she could open it, Gu Renjie suddenly rushed in.
Seeing the smile on his face, Meng Wei's lips couldn't help but curl up as well, and then she slowly walked towards Gu Renjie.

Thinking of the old woman's last words, Gu Shuyan's heart was in her throat.
She quickly walked towards the bedroom, not caring whether it would be inconvenient inside, and pushed the door open with force.
The two people inside, who were engrossed in their reading, were both interrupted by Gu Shuyan and looked at her.
Seeing that the two of them were sitting there unharmed, Gu Shuyan patted her chest hard.
"What's wrong with my sister?"
Gu Shuyan wasn't a reckless person, and given her obvious blank stare, Gu Renjie had a feeling that something he didn't know was happening.

"So that was a gift from my sister? I was wondering who would send a wedding gift today."
After finishing her sentence, Meng Wei smiled and walked towards the brocade box. She thought that since it was a gift from Gu Shuyan to her and Gu Renjie, she should take a good look at it.
