Chapter 1 Childhood Sweethearts Ran Away

The silence was suddenly broken.

"Hmm..." Ji Xiaoxiao, still groggy from just waking up, gently rubbed her throbbing forehead. The dull pain that was slowly creeping in was relieved a little, and a comfortable groan couldn't help but flow from her mouth.

Her small face, no bigger than a palm, was as pale as the bright moon from the excruciating pain, pitiful and heartbreaking. Her bright, star-like eyes were watery and sparkling, and her clear black and white pupils occasionally flashed with an inexplicable light.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but the headache that had been causing her death soon disappeared with the wind and gradually stopped affecting Ji Xiaoxiao's five senses, such as her vision.

Upon closer inspection, all that came into view was a pitch-black space. There was no sun, moon, or stars, no grass, trees, flowers, or beasts; nothing could be seen, as if nothing existed at all. It was empty, like a ghost realm.

Although her eyes were useless in the dark, Ji Xiaoxiao could feel that the space was incredibly large, boundless and vast. Ji Xiaoxiao stretched her neck and opened her eyes wide to look out, but all she saw was darkness.

It was gloomy and quiet. Being alone made her prone to overthinking. Ji Xiaoxiao seemed to be hallucinating. Ghostly howls and wolfish wails entered her ears, and her body trembled uncontrollably.

Unlucky as she was, she was run over by a car in a miraculous way, unable to go to the underworld to get a bowl of Meng Po's soup to cross the Bridge of Helplessness and be reborn as a human. Instead, she wandered around and ended up in this unfamiliar place where no one knew her. Ji Xiaoxiao looked somewhat frightened, while the terrified bird with its hair standing on end seemed like a mythical creature. How could an ordinary person, who was fortunate enough to be born three lifetimes ago, have the right to catch a glimpse of it?

How could ordinary people understand the strength of a tough woman!

The pain had just subsided when Ji Xiaoxiao, sitting on the ground, belatedly realized that the thing beneath her, which resembled black soil, was somewhat unusual. The touch, the beauty, the lingering comfort—Ji Xiaoxiao felt as if she were immersed in a sweet and fragrant pudding, unable to extricate herself.

After thoroughly ravaging the beauty of the black earth, Ji Xiaoxiao, supporting herself on the ground, staggered to her feet. Her terrified eyes, wide open in the darkness, wandered aimlessly. As she walked further and further away, Ji Xiaoxiao's gaze fell upon a certain spot, and she felt as if struck by lightning. She rubbed her eyes in disbelief, trembling and shaking, like a frail old woman in her seventies or eighties, seemingly on the verge of a close encounter with Mother Earth.

It's no wonder that Ji Xiaoxiao reacted like a lonely old woman who had suffered a stroke and was bedridden for three days, suddenly finding herself in front of a bowl of steaming, fragrant rice and crying out in bewilderment. The thing in front of Ji Xiaoxiao was simply too extraordinary and rare. As an ordinary person, Ji Xiaoxiao was overwhelmed with emotions and thoughts, and the surging feelings in her heart could not be suppressed at all.

Taking a few deep breaths to calm her anxious mood, Ji Xiaoxiao shouted and ran off towards heaven.

"Gold, gold, gold..." Ji Xiaoxiao laughed wildly all the way, "Mine, mine, all mine, all the gold is mine."

"Hahaha..." The earth-shattering laughter was filled with the arrogant pride of "I, Hu Hansan, am back again."

The space was vast and wide, but "Gold" was not far from Ji Xiaoxiao, who was obsessed with money. After running for a minute or two without regard for her life, the two pitiful people destined to meet finally met.

Regardless of the saliva-like droplets that flowed along the way, like sweat irrigating the black soil, she prayed for a bountiful harvest next year to come true. Overjoyed, Ji Xiaoxiao hugged the towering, endless golden pillar with its coiled dragons forming a circle, rubbing her delicate face up and down with it. The glistening liquid flowed from her mouth, soaking the golden pillar.

Having defiled one large golden pillar, Ji Xiaoxiao foolishly went on to defile the next one, until she realized it wasn't a dream. With her hands on her hips, Ji Xiaoxiao threw her head back and laughed loudly, "I'm a rich woman now!"

"Cough cough." A cough or two came from the golden pillar. Perhaps the person inside was stunned by Ji Xiaoxiao's extraordinary feat. After coughing again, like a little imp whose toy had been taken over, he mumbled a sentence, "Those are all mine."

Having always assumed she was all alone in the space, Ji Xiaoxiao looked around in a panic before noticing a figure inside the golden pillar.

The person was completely shrouded in black mist, obscuring their features and making it impossible to determine their gender. However, the childlike voice suggested it was a man's – perhaps. In her past life, Ji Xiaoxiao had encountered too many androgynous old perverts. Even with a man's voice, without personally inspecting the goods, Ji Xiaoxiao couldn't be certain whether the person was male or female.

"Who are you?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked cautiously, clinging tightly to the golden pillar.

The reclusive masters are like snow lotuses from the Tianshan Mountains, to be admired from afar and not to be trifled with. Their otherworldly temperament, cold gaze, and beautiful voice that seems to make one pregnant conceal the embarrassment they made a moment ago. "I am the one who will help you."

"A weasel offering New Year's greetings to a chicken is up to no good. I don't need your help. We've never met before, so who knows if you're a bad person?" The person in front of her gave Eun-ji Xiaoxiao the feeling that he was definitely not someone to be trifled with. Despite her stubbornness, Eun-ji Xiaoxiao's clenched fists with bulging veins and cold sweat slowly forming on her forehead were not what she claimed to be.

Despite being told the truth beforehand, she still refused to listen and had to suffer the consequences. Ji Xiaoxiao soon found out why the flowers were so red.

"Hmph." The clown, overestimating himself, the person who lived in the golden dragon pillar, hummed softly and unhurriedly.

With just a sound, or even just a tune, Ji Xiaoxiao felt as if her hands, feet, and pitiful head were bound by five ropes, the other ends of which were tied to the young and strong Akhal-Teke horse.
