As the old saying goes, you can escape the first day of the month, but you can't escape the fifteenth.
Ji Xiaoxiao and Hu Zi didn't escape for long before the man caught up with them.
"Mother, is he that serial killer?" Under Ji Xiaoxiao's protection, Hu Zi secretly glanced at the man chasing after him without stopping.
Ji Xiaoxiao nodded, her mind a jumble of thoughts, and she didn't dwell on it. The man's cultivation was like a towering mountain and a deep sea, unattainable for Ji Xiaoxiao. To live was, for her now, just a dream.
"Mother!" Tiger's terrified voice woke Ji Xiaoxiao from her reverie.
The man, without anyone noticing, resumed his barrage of sword energy.
Ji Xiaoxiao reacted quickly, tossing Hu Zi aside while using her spiritual power to defend herself.
The sword energy struck Ji Xiaoxiao directly, and the thin spiritual energy shield dimmed considerably.
"This is bad," Ji Xiaoxiao thought to herself, "If this happens again, I'm doomed."
Their strength clashed until they were exhausted. With a wave of his hand, the man unleashed another sword aura towards Ji Xiaoxiao. Ji Xiaoxiao's eyes widened, and she bit her tongue hard, forcing out several drops of blood.
"Heaven and earth are boundless, and the universe borrows the law; the law arises from the heart, and life is endless." Ji Xiaoxiao paused for a moment, then continued, "The Heavenly Divine Shield protects me and keeps me safe."
Ji Xiaoxiao once again parried the man's sword energy.
The sword energy was so powerful that even with divine intervention, Ji Xiaoxiao was still injured by the shockwave.
"Ugh." Ji Xiaoxiao spat out a mouthful of blood, then deliberately cheered herself up and recited, "Heaven and earth are boundless, wind and thunder are commanded; dragons fight in the wilderness, and all ten directions are destroyed."
The seemingly ordinary words, once uttered by Ji Xiaoxiao, caused the sky to darken instantly, with thick clouds gathering, a fierce wind howling, and lightning flashing.
"Hurry, hurry, as the law commands! Thunder from the heavens annihilates demons!"
The blood in Ji Xiaoxiao's mouth meandered down the corner of her mouth.
In the sky, streaks of purple lightning flashed through the dark clouds.
"The Ghost Chapter of Genesis: By borrowing power from one's own life, one can destroy demons in the Nine Heavens, become a ghost king, and have one's soul remain undisturbed."
The man looked up at the sky, stunned, and muttered to himself.
