Chapter 241 Don't Be a Savior (Part 9)

Three months later, Ji Xiaoxiao brought the plum blossoms to the reception room again.

Mei Taohua sat down on the chair, and the child, like a gust of wind, quickly ran to the side and started hitting and kicking Mei Taohua, so busy that he forgot all about home.

Ji Xiaoxiao was pleased to see this happen, and remained silent without saying anything or stopping it.

"You dared to try and eat me? I'll beat you to death, kick you to death!"

The child was small and weak, but his size was considerable; a punch or kick from him could be quite deadly. Mei Taohua secretly gasped, glancing sideways at Ji Xiaoxiao, signaling her to quickly come out and pull this brat away.

People don't visit temples without a reason; the arrival of plum and peach blossoms must mean something's up.

"Children shouldn't interfere when adults are talking," Ji Xiaoxiao ordered her servants to pull the child away.

"There are no outsiders here, so just say what you need to say."

As the months progressed, Ji Xiaoxiao's movements became increasingly sluggish.

Ji Xiaoxiao slowly sat down, comfortably squinting her eyes.

Mei Taohua sat motionless until everyone was seated, then said, "It's been almost five months since we separated, hasn't it?" Mei Taohua's eyes were unfocused, as if she were lost in thought.

Ji Xiaoxiao didn't care at all. It's such a small matter. If you say so, then so be it.

"I'm a grown man with plenty of energy. After a long day of hard work outside, I come home to a cold and empty house. You, who were once my saviors, should understand the bitterness of this life, right?"

Ji Xiaoxiao was at her wits' end. Looking at the well-dressed and upright gentleman, she thought Mei Taohua must be shameless to the point of being utterly depraved.

"A grown man with boundless energy? Is he asking me for 'that' thing?"

Ji Xiaoxiao pretended not to understand and sat quietly without moving.

A fleeting look of disappointment crossed Mei Taohua's face. She shifted her body and sat up straight.

“You’re sick. I asked the doctor, and he told me that’s how you’ll be for the rest of your life. I love you, but the world needs me.”

Mei Taohua stared intently at Ji Xiaoxiao, eagerly hoping that Ji Xiaoxiao would say something.

Ji Xiaoxiao was truly at a loss for words, unable to understand the meaning of the plum blossom and peach blossom analogy.

"Just say what you want to say, don't beat around the bush with me."

Let's get a divorce!

Mei Taohua clenched her fist tightly, feeling a surge of satisfaction as she said it.

"Divorce?" Ji Xiaoxiao pointed at the plum blossoms.

Mei Taohua believed that Ji Xiaoxiao still loved him deeply, but for the sake of all mankind and the world, he had to abandon her and her child.

"If that's the case, please let go!" Plum Blossom pleaded.

Ji Xiaoxiao was stunned for a moment, then suddenly jumped up.

"Want a divorce? No problem. Just tell me the real reason." Ji Xiaoxiao didn't believe that Mei Taohua would ask for a divorce because of loneliness and sleeplessness in her secluded boudoir—a ridiculously absurd reason.

Mei Taohua stared blankly at Ji Xiaoxiao's belly and sighed, "Ruoran, you are no longer the savior."

"I know that. I'm not the savior anymore, but I'm still a woman!"

You don't even want a delicate beauty like me? Even a stupid idiot is smarter than you!

"The reason I pursued you and fell deeply in love with you was because we shared common interests. I'm a policeman, and you're a savior; we both play the role of helping and saving people in society. Now, you... are unwell and spend so much time here, making it incredibly difficult for me to see you. Every night, I return to my empty home after official duties, only to be met with cold, lifeless furniture. I desperately want a family, a wife who loves and cares for me, but I have none of that. I'm filled with worry, and my health is deteriorating, indirectly affecting my work. For the peace of the city and the safety of its citizens, I want a normal home, so I can only ask you to make do."

Seeing that Mei Taohua was speaking eloquently, Ji Xiaoxiao thought it was utter nonsense.

He sacrificed her for all of humanity and the world back then, and now, for his own happiness and joy, he's making her compromise herself. Is Mei Taohua treating her like a pushover?

Ji Xiaoxiao glared angrily, exuding an indescribable aloofness, like the coldness of the heavens above, or the purity of a snow lotus from the Tianshan Mountains.

"I promise you." Ji Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth and agreed to Mei Taohua's request.

October was almost over, and her due date was approaching. Ji Xiaoxiao didn't want to cause any more trouble. Divorcing Mei Taohua wasn't about Ji Xiaoxiao having to endure humiliation, cede territory, or pay reparations; agreeing to his demands would be beneficial in fact. The thought that her name was still on the same household registration as Mei Taohua's made Ji Xiaoxiao feel nauseous and gag, wishing she could vomit up her dinner from the night before.

"However, you must sign an agreement."

Ji Xiaoxiao touched her belly. She couldn't let Mei Taohua take away the child she had carried for ten months. So she had to make arrangements early to avoid being caught off guard and suffering a crushing defeat.

"How is it?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked after waiting for a while.

Mei Taohua had little contact with his unborn child, so naturally they didn't have a deep relationship. To Mei Taohua, the child was dispensable.

In exchange for a loving and considerate wife and a bright future, Mei Taohua weighed the pros and cons and hesitantly signed the agreement.

A loan repaid is a loan easily obtained again. The child was awarded to Ji Xiaoxiao, who generously wrote her name on the divorce agreement.

After half an hour of negotiation, the couple became strangers.

"Mr. Mei, please leave."

Faced with Ji Xiaoxiao's difficult words, Mei Taohua hesitated to speak. Considering their relationship, she said, "If you need anything in the future, you can call me, but please don't come to my door in person. The rumors about my ex-wife and ex-husband still having an affair have spread. It's bad enough that it damages our reputation, but I'm more afraid of hurting my wife's feelings."

"Get lost." Ji Xiaoxiao was finally speechless at Mei Taohua.
