The sounds of fighting were deep and powerful, each punch and kick landing squarely on the body. Ji Xiaoxiao turned her head and saw a man of about twenty years old, calmly and skillfully dealing with a group of thugs. The man cleverly countered with evasive maneuvers, his fists and feet landing indiscriminately on the thugs.
Within seconds, the man had dealt with the thugs surrounding him. The remaining thugs were furious and wanted to teach the arrogant man a lesson, but Ji Xiaoxiao stopped them.
From a skilled eye's perspective, the man, though young, possessed top-notch martial arts skills. The thugs Ji Xiaoxiao had gathered, due to the time constraints, were mostly inexperienced. With his underlings proving so unhelpful, the boss had no choice but to step in personally to save face.
Ji Xiaoxiao took a step forward, and in the blink of an eye, her figure was already in front of the man. A person suddenly appeared before him, like a ghost. The man was terrified and retreated, staggering and unable to stand steadily. His disordered breathing revealed the unease in his heart.
Seeing this, Ji Xiaoxiao smiled slightly, then turned to the man and took a step forward. As always, yet contrary to her usual behavior, this time Ji Xiaoxiao punched the man hard, sending him crashing into the wall.
Ji Xiaoxiao's punch seemed to carry the force of a thousand pounds. The man crashed into the wall, and the innocent wall shattered into a spiderweb pattern. After landing, the man was covered in dirt. The kind wall, thinking that the man had died before he could even begin his mission, shed tears and scattered small pebbles. Over time, these pebbles accumulated and formed a small mound, determined to make a small grave mound, unwilling to see the man's body left to rot in the wilderness.
Having dealt with the man with a single move, Ji Xiaoxiao calmly returned to Lin Zisu's side, nodded, and said expressionlessly, "Sorry, I was rude." Her few words revealed no sincerity or remorse whatsoever.
Lin Zisu wasn't a rigid or inflexible person; to rise to a position second only to the emperor, her emotional and intellectual intelligence must be off the charts. In the dark world of officialdom and the turbulent court, how could a naive person possibly live peacefully for decades?
No one present was stupid!
"Brother Ying!" Bai Wanxin, who had been calm and collected, suddenly spoke up, her pale face filled with panic as she stumbled and rushed towards the man called Ying.
Stephen. Upon hearing the shout, Ying struggled to lift his head and looked at Bai Wanxin running towards him, his face showing distress and worry. Everyone knew that Bai Wanxin was in poor health, and she was drenched in sweat and panting heavily after running just a few meters.
Ignoring the safety of her unborn child, Bai Wanxin decisively knelt down and cradled Stephen in her hands. Seeing the bloodstains at the corner of his mouth, Stephen burst into tears, wailing, "Brother Ying, are you alright? Please don't die! If something happens to you, how will we live? Brother Ying, Brother Ying, please don't… Waaah…"
Then came a series of wailing and howling. Ji Xiaoxiao covered her ears, rolled her eyes, and kindly reminded Bai Wanxin, "The person isn't dead, is there any need to wail?"
With a creak, Bai Wanxin's piercing cries abruptly stopped. Her eyes brimming with tears, she looked at Ji Xiaoxiao and sobbed, "Really?"
"It's fake, he's already dead. That punch I threw was a long-lost martial arts technique—the Deadly Fist, which kills the enemy without mercy." Ji Xiaoxiao was sometimes a mischievous little devil, and seeing Bai Wanxin's silly expression, she felt like playing a prank.
Bai Wanxin froze instantly, her smile lingering on her face, unsure whether to fade or return. When she came to her senses, she burst into another startling cry.
Practice makes perfect, and Ji Xiaoxin, with her keen senses and clear ears, turned to Lin Zisu and said, "Lord Lin, do you think we should make our move? If we wait until the Emperor arrives, we'll have no chance."
Lin Zisu opened her mouth, but Ji Xiaoxiao heard Xuanyuan Yujing's voice, "Make a move? Make a move against whom? Is it me, Wanxin, or my unborn child? Xuanyuan clan, you really have the guts to dare to touch my people."
Xuanyuan Yujing had been shouting in Ji Xiaoxiao's courtyard for a long time, but no one came. He waited and waited, endured it, and finally could not bear it any longer. He ordered his men to smash the door, but the house was empty. Before Xuanyuan Yujing could even get angry, someone rushed over to report that the lady, along with the other officials, had smashed Bai Wanxin's door.
It is true that good deeds are rewarded and evil deeds are punished; it's not that retribution won't come, it's just that the time hasn't arrived yet. The seeds sown yesterday are reaped today.
Ji Xiaoxiao didn't move, but glanced sideways and saw Xuan Yuan Yujing leading a group of men approaching menacingly. Xuan Yuan Yujing's eyes were bloodshot, clearly furious; in his rage, his chest heaved and veins bulged on his forehead. Ji Xiaoxiao's thugs briefly blocked his path, then kicked one of them to the ground, mercilessly trampling his face underfoot.
Xuanyuan Yujing walked to Bai Wanxin's side, gently hugged her, and softly comforted her, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Wanxin, I'm late."
Bai Wanxin stared blankly, not reacting. Xuanyuan Yujing then comforted her, "Wanxin, don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'm here for you."
Xuan Yuan Yu Jing's patient and meticulous comforting gradually took effect. Bai Wanxin, as delicate as water, tightly gripped Xuan Yuan Yu Jing's clothes, tears streaming down her face, her hand stubbornly pointing at the unconscious Stephen lying on the ground. "Brother Jing, he's dead, he's dead..."
Evolved into a broken record, Bai Wanxin relentlessly repeated the words "He's dead," tirelessly bothering Xuan Yuan Yu Jing. Xuan Yuan Yu Jing recalled Bai Wanxin's kind and innocent nature—sweeping the floor without harming an ant, and cherishing a moth covered by a lamp—and shook his head helplessly, a pang of pity rising within him. He shook his head again, signaling his men to check on Stephen's condition.
When Bai Wanxin learned that Ji Xiaoxiao was a shameless liar, she immediately stopped crying and smiled again. She nestled into Xuan Yuan Yu Jing's arms and said to Ji Xiaoxiao in a sweet, innocent voice, "You're a big liar! You'll definitely go to hell and suffer the punishment of having your tongue pulled out. It'll hurt so much!" After saying this, Bai Wanxin covered her mouth, her big, round eyes smiling as she looked at Ji Xiaoxiao.
