Chapter 363 The First Wife Who Starved to Death

The door was tightly shut, making the room airtight, and a heavy, oppressive atmosphere poured out like a waterfall.

Ji Xiaoxiao lowered her head, as if she were a coward bowing to reality.

"Zeng Shi." Jian Guangyang gritted his teeth, his grip on Ji Xiaoxiao's neck tightening. That hateful, wicked woman, attacking his woman, challenging his authority—unforgivable.

Blinded by rage, Jian Guangyang recklessly sought to kill Ji Xiaoxiao. Ji Xiaoxiao did not resist, her limbs outstretched, allowing him to do as he pleased.

"Look at me," a hoarse voice suddenly rang out.

Jian Guangyang raised his head and stared directly into Ji Xiaoxiao's clear eyes, which were calm and deep, revealing no trace of emotion.

“You…” Jian Guangyang let go of his hand, and to everyone’s surprise, he started to torture himself.

Ji Xiaoxiao rubbed her red and sore neck, then punched Jian Guangyang in the stomach with her backhand. Ji Xiaoxiao used her strength skillfully, striking Jian Guangyang hard without leaving any external marks.

"Ugh." Jian Guangyang's eyes widened, and tears streamed down his face.

“Zeng, how dare you!”

Jian Guangyang's eyes blazed with hatred and fury; a single touch would mean certain death.

"What wouldn't I dare to do?"

With a swift movement, Ji Xiaoxiao lifted the tall and burly Jian Guangyang, leaving him dangling from the ground. With a flick of her wrist, Jian Guangyang crashed into the wall with a thud, falling heavily to the ground.

"Ugh." Jian Guangyang cried out in pain.

A searing, excruciating pain washed over Jian Guangyang, making his head spin. All he could see was pitch blackness. A sharp pain shot through the back of his head; Jian Guangyang frowned, reaching out to touch it. It was sticky, warm, and painful.

Jian Guangyang took a few breaths and said angrily, "Zeng, I want your life."

Ji Xiaoxiao was unconvinced and slowly approached, her smile chillingly cold.

In the dead of winter, the cold wind howled, and a layer of frost spread out.

Jian Guangyang's heart was pounding. Frost? How could there be frost at this time of year?

"Come..." Jian Guangyang didn't finish his sentence before frost froze his lips. "Waaah... (What are you going to do to me?)"

Ji Xiaoxiao squatted down, pinched Jian Guangya's chin, and said, "Of course I'll teach you a good lesson, you brainless good-for-nothing. You have no respect for elders and no sense of hierarchy. I provide you with food and clothing, so you should be aware of being a dependent."

That night, Jian Guangyang did not leave Wutongyuan.

"Has the lady come to her senses?" Zhang Mama muttered to herself.

When the sun was high in the sky, Jian Guangyang pushed open the door and went out.

"My lord," Zhang Mama and the others said in unison.

Jian Guangyang grunted in agreement, squeezed his legs together, and limped out of Wutong Garden.

"Granny Zhang, I think the Marquis looks like he's been... you know?" The little girl came from the countryside, where there were more men than women. Men, being energetic and hot-tempered, were bound to go astray. The little girl had seen it all before and was used to it.

Granny Zhang was a shrewd old woman; after being reminded by the young maid, she really did seem to be right.

"Don't talk nonsense." Granny Zhang looked around and said, "If you don't want to end up like those treacherous dogs who betrayed their own people, you'd better keep your mouths shut."

"Understood, Granny." They were well-fed and cared for in the Wutong Courtyard, their master was kind and didn't mistreat them, and they received red envelopes during festivals. They must have been out of their minds to think of finding another way out.

Zhang Mama nodded and quickly told them to return to their posts. The Marquis had left, and it was about time for the Madam to get up as well.

The crowd dispersed, and Granny Zhang stood motionless in front of the door.

“If the truth is as the little maid says, then in other words, it means there’s another man in the madam’s room. This… wait, it doesn’t necessarily mean there’s another man. The madam isn’t without hands.” Granny Zhang shook her head. How could she possibly criticize her mistress? She deserved a beating.

Granny Zhang raised her hand and slapped herself.

"Crunch."

The door opened at just the right moment.

"Granny, why are you hitting yourself?" Ji Xiaoxiao said weakly.

Granny Zhang said it was nothing, just some mosquitoes. Ji Xiaoxiao smiled, neither confirming nor denying.

"Madam, you don't look well. Did you not sleep well last night?"

Granny Zhang raised her head, revealing deep, numerous wrinkles at the corners of her eyes. Ji Xiaoxiao's face was pale, her eyes bloodshot, her eyelids drooping, as if she were about to face the darkness.

Ji Xiaoxiao waved her hand and said, "Don't worry."

Granny Zhang was a qualified servant; she never asked questions she shouldn't have.

Ji Xiaoxiao rested for most of the day before she felt better. Last night, she used the "Magic Charm Path" on Jian Guangyang. Although she successfully controlled Jian Guangyang, she also suffered the consequences. She was physically and mentally exhausted, listless, and had a splitting headache like after a hangover.

Lying in bed, her breathing gradually calmed down, her headache slowly subsided, and Ji Xiaoxiao's complexion became rosy.

“Madam,” Zhang Mama said anxiously.

"What is it?" Ji Xiaoxiao raised her eyelids.

Zhang Mama stepped forward and said, "Madam, Xiao Li is back."

Xiao Li?

Ji Xiaoxiao paused for a moment before remembering who Xiao Li was.

Xiao Li was the person she sent back to the original owner's family home.

“He’s back. Let him come see me.”

Ji Xiaoxiao got up, and a large group of servants filed in, bringing hot water and towels, helping her wash her face, change her clothes, and do her makeup. She looked like a stunning beauty once again.

“Madam,” a tall man knelt down and spoke.

"How is my father?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked bluntly.

Xiao Li remained silent for a long time, which made Ji Xiaoxiao panic.

"Speak," Ji Xiaoxiao said through gritted teeth.

Under pressure from Ji Xiaoxiao, Xiao Li slowly recounted the events, word by word, in great detail.
