Heaven has eyes!
This sentence resounded throughout the capital.
"Get out of the way!" the yamen official roared. The servants guarding the courtyard gate were horrified, their legs trembling, and they slumped down.
With a push, the blade of the government office entered the new construction site.
Jian Guangyang followed closely behind, his nose twitching; a foul odor emanated from Jian Gongxin's courtyard.
“This unfilial son has disgraced the Marquis of Weiguo.”
Jian Guangyang thought that once this matter was over, he would definitely teach Jian Gongxin a lesson.
"Search, find Jian Gongxin."
"Yes, sir."
The constables scattered immediately.
Jian Guangyang stepped forward and asked, "Officer Lin, has my son done anything wrong?"
Early in the morning, the people of the Marquis of Wei's residence were awakened by a knock on the door.
Lin, the head constable, kept his eyes straight ahead and said, "Someone reported that your son committed murder and hid the body, and is involved in child trafficking."
Murder and concealment of body? Child trafficking?
Jian Guangyang was taken aback for a moment, then smiled and let it go. Jian Gongxin was a bit absurd, but he knew his limits in dealing with people. This matter was fabricated by someone to frame his Marquis of Weiguo's mansion.
"Officer Lin, do you have any solid evidence?" Jian Guangyang's imposing aura burst forth.
Officer Lin glanced sideways and said calmly, "We're currently gathering evidence."
"What if there is no evidence?"
"Your son is innocent and will be released," Constable Lin replied naturally.
"Is that all?" Jian Guangyang revealed a dangerous smile, like a knife hidden in a smile, waiting for someone to lower their guard before stabbing the enemy in the heart from behind.
Lin, the head constable, was puzzled. Wasn't it enough to release innocent people without charge?
Jian Guangyang explained, “My son’s innocent release is a matter of course, legal and reasonable. But Constable Lin, you led people to search my Marquis of Wei’s mansion, which has damaged my reputation. Who can I seek compensation from, and who can I complain to?”
"Nobles value their reputation," Lin the constable suddenly realized.
"I am willing to visit you in person to apologize."
After saying that, Officer Lin ignored Jian Guangyang.
After a short while, two constables emerged with red eyes. The person they were holding was none other than Jian Gongxin, the heir of the Marquis of Wei, who was living a life of debauchery and oblivious to the passage of time.
"Brother Lin, inside, inside... ugh..."
Before he could finish speaking, the man vomited all over the ground.
The remaining constables coldly remarked, "This is nothing more than a living hell."
When Jian Guangyang entered the place the constable had described, he rolled his eyes and managed to get away with it.
Those who have witnessed that scene will be haunted by nightmares from now on.
Three days later.
Jian Guangyang smashed another cup. "How could this be? How could this be?"
Jian Gongxin's backyard is full of flowers, but the ground is littered with white bones.
The coroner and his men unearthed the remains, which were all small, belonging to children of four or five years old. A small portion of the skeleton was intact, while the rest consisted of severed limbs or deeply crushed skulls. Some of the bodies were not yet fully decomposed, with worms the size of a little finger wriggling among the rotting flesh.
"What a tragedy!" the person handling the remains muttered to himself.
These are all children!
When all the bones were dug up and counted, there were as many as twenty-three.
The dead are not the worst. The most cruel thing is the children that Jian Gongxin locked in the secret room. Although they are round and cute, their hands and feet are bound by iron chains, and their bodies are covered with unspeakable wounds. A nauseating stench permeates the entire secret room.
The children looked numb, their wrists and ankles covered in blood and flesh. Whenever someone approached, especially an adult man, they would shout and scream, opening their mouths and tearing at the wound with their sharpest teeth.
The elderly, who have weathered many storms, can easily guess the hardships they endured.
What a terrible thing to do!
Isn't that just committing a sin?
Those were all children, living, breathing little kids.
Jian Gongxin's treatment of them shows that he doesn't consider them human beings at all.
Jian Guangyang didn't care about Jian Gongxin and was naturally unaware of Jian Gongxin's "absurdity." He thought that Jian Gongxin was at most just walking dogs, fighting cocks, and harassing respectable women. How could he have imagined that he would go so far as to commit such heinous crimes, such as murder, hiding corpses, and buying and selling children?
"Hu Yanyan, do you have anything to say?" Jian Guangyang asked Hu Yanyan with a fierce look in his eyes.
Hu Yanyan trembled with fright and immediately knelt down. "My lord, this lowly concubine was unaware. I am but a woman, not even the young master's biological mother. How could I possibly interfere in the affairs of the young master's courtyard?" Her implication was that she was unaware of Jian Gongxin's outrageous behavior, and that Jian Guangyang should take his anger out on Jian Gongxin's biological mother—after all, it was the mother's fault for not raising him properly!
Come to think of it, Jian Guangyang went to find Ji Xiaoxiao.
"Mother, please get up quickly." From behind the screen, a boy of twelve or thirteen years old emerged. He was handsome, elegant, and spoke with grace. What a fine young man! He was none other than Jian Gongsen, the biological son of Hu Yanyan, whom Jian Guangyang valued most.
“Mother is fine, don’t worry.” Hu Yanyan stood up, supporting herself on Jian Gongsen’s arm.
Jian Gongsen helped Hu Yanyan sit down and slowly poured her a cup of tea.
"Mother, why?"
The mother and son both knew the reason perfectly well.
Hu Yanyan had been raising Jian Gongxin for Zeng Feizi for many years. When Jian Gongxin wanted money, fine, banknotes were sent! When Jian Gongxin wanted women, fine, they were sent directly to his bed! When Jian Gongxin got tired of them, fine, Hu Yanyan would indirectly arrange for someone to take Jian Gongxin to "play" with her. This was utterly outrageous and immoral.
"Your father has fallen out of favor with the Emperor because of his acceptance of bribes, and his situation is not as good as before. His political enemies are also taking the opportunity to attack your father."
"Useless piece of trash," Hu Yanyan muttered to herself, cursing Jian Guangyang.
No matter how much affection or loyalty you have, time will devour everything.
Unaware of Hu Yanyan's thoughts, Jian Gongsen asked, "Then, Mother, by doing this, aren't you handing Father's political enemies a handle, making it even more difficult for him to move forward?"
