"do what?"
Ji Xiaoxiao grabbed the blanket and covered her chest, looking every bit the chaste and virtuous woman.
The adult, Manti, took off his clothes and said matter-of-factly, "When men and women are in the same room, what do you think we should do?"
Ji Xiaoxiao closed her eyes and said, "Let's play a game."
The adult paused, "What you said isn't wrong either."
Ji Xiaoxiao hurriedly replied, "Right, right? I remember there are clothes and board games in this room. Let me look for them, let me look for them."
Ji Xiaoxiao looked around and saw that she had secretly slipped out of the house.
"No need to look anymore, we have other things to play with." The adult suddenly appeared behind Ji Xiaoxiao, his large, slightly fair hand landing on Ji Xiaoxiao's shoulder.
It was hot, burning, and her whole body was itchy. Ji Xiaoxiao jumped up.
The adult frowned; he could see that Ji Xiaoxiao was rejecting him.
"You don't want to?" the adult asked.
Never offend your boss, that's what experience tells Ji Xiaoxiao.
"No, no, I'm just... just flattered and not used to it."
The adult hummed in agreement and pulled Ji Xiaoxiao into his arms. "You'll get used to it soon. After all, there will be many more things like this in the future."
There are many more?
Ji Xiaoxiao opened her mouth wide, filled with a mixture of fear and dread.
...
Ji Xiaoxiao successfully overslept.
"Discounted, haha," Ji Xiaoxiao said, still half-asleep.
"Didn't you sleep well last night?" Ji Yang asked guiltily.
He believed that he was the cause of Mengmeng's outburst and Ji Xiaoxiao's sleepless nights.
Ji Xiaoxiao nodded and said, "Mm."
Breakfast was prepared with a clatter, and Ji Xiaoxiao ate it drowsily.
"Why don't you go back to sleep for a while?" Ji Yang suggested.
Ji Xiaoxiao blew on the scalding hot porridge, then nodded. She was so sleepy and tired that she knew she wouldn't be able to hold on if she didn't take a nap.
Ji Xiaoxiao left the bowl for Ji Yang to wash, then lay down on the bed and fell asleep as soon as she closed her eyes.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, Ji Xiaoxiao woke up satisfied.
"Dad, I'm going to look for a job tomorrow. Please take good care of Mengmeng at home."
Ji Yang turned around, surprised, and asked, "Looking for a job?"
“Hmm,” Ji Xiaoxiao said, “The money I have was donated by kind people. It’s not much. We’ve been living off our savings for so long. It’s time for me to go out and find a job to support my family.”
“But…” Ji Yang squeezed his grandson’s chubby little hand, “I should be the one going out to find a job.”
Ji Xiaoxiao took Ji Yang's hand, her gaze gentle, "Dad, you've raised me for twenty years, you've worked so hard, from now on I'll take care of you."
The idea of raising children to provide for one's old age is exactly like this.
Ji Yang lowered his head in shame, met Mengmeng's innocent eyes, and simply closed his eyelids.
"Fengfeng, Dad is sorry."
Recalling his past decadent and violent self, Ji Yang wished he could slap himself.
How inhuman he must have been to beat and verbally abuse a child so frequently, even kicking and punching her. He never gave Fengfeng any love or care, but Fengfeng, being kind-hearted and magnanimous, was still willing to forgive this bad father.
Only through comparison can one highlight what is outstanding; Ji Yang deeply recognized his own shortcomings.
"Dad, as long as you're doing well from now on, I don't care about the past." Ji Xiaoxiao leaned against Ji Yang's broad back and whispered, "Dad, all I want is a dad who cares for and loves me."
Ji Yang's eyes were brimming with tears, but not a single tear fell.
Nine out of ten fathers are unwilling to show their vulnerable side in front of their children.
Once things were discussed openly and clearly, Ji Yang became even more positive and motivated.
One day, the snow-covered ground was white and the sky was clear and blue.
"Dad, I'm going out now."
Ji Xiaoxiao kissed Mengmeng, waved goodbye, and went out to find a job.
Jobs are hard to find, especially for women without diplomas. Ji Xiaoxiao ran into obstacles everywhere, and before she knew it, the morning was over, and she still hadn't found a job.
Sitting on a bench by the roadside, Ji Xiaoxiao tilted her head back and took a sip of mineral water.
"Damn it, what's wrong with the woman?" Ji Xiaoxiao finished a bottle of mineral water in a few gulps and threw it accurately into the trash can next to her.
One morning, Ji Xiaoxiao was rejected for her job, mostly because of her status as a woman. The remaining ten or twenty, upon hearing she was a woman with children, smiled gently and asked her to leave before the interview even began.
Ji Xiaoxiao cursed a few times, but succumbed to reality and had no choice but to continue working hard.
"Are you Miss Jifeng?" a man dressed as a butler asked, bowing.
"It's me. May I ask who you are?"
Ji Xiaoxiao didn't know him.
The handsome butler said, "It's my wife who's looking for you."
Madam? A handsome man dressed as a butler? Ji Xiaoxiao suddenly realized that it was the prisoner's family member who kept asking to buy her precious darling with money.
Ji Xiaoxiao curled her lips into a smile. "Does your wife have a big face?"
The handsome butler, puzzled, subconsciously shook his head.
"Since she's not so shameless, and she's the one who contacted me, then let her come over herself." Ji Xiaoxiao clicked her tongue. "Who does she think she is, that I'll just go whenever she tells me to?"
The handsome butler bowed and turned to walk towards a black sedan in the driveway.
The car window rolled down, and the handsome butler bent down and said a few words. The car door opened, and a beautiful woman who still retained her charm stepped out. She wore a blue dress that highlighted her noble temperament, and a pure white mink coat that accentuated her fair skin and delicate features. Although there were small wrinkles on her face, they could not conceal the unique beauty of a woman of her age.
"Hello, I'm Qiao Ziqi's mother. You can call me Aunt Qiao," the pretty woman said.
Ji Xiaoxiao crossed her legs, striking a pose that suggested she was the most arrogant person in the world. "I'm not good enough, and I don't know any Qiao Ziqi or Aunt Qiao."
