The aunts and uncles nodded in satisfaction. That's good. It's good that she's come to her senses. Xiao Ru has finally woken up and is no longer deeply in love with that slut.
"Su Tang, I'll let you off the hook today. But be at the Civil Affairs Bureau by 11 a.m. tomorrow. If you don't come, you'll know what we're capable of."
The aunts and uncles all snorted in unison, their threat obvious. Ji Xiaoxiao remained silent and unresponsive, her eyes glazed over, like a doll.
The aunts and uncles twisted their thick waists and pushed Wu Ruo away from the hotel.
"Phew, they're finally gone. They almost suffocated me with the stench."
The aunts and uncles were all covered in pungent perfume, each one stronger than the last, and dressed in flamboyant attire. If it weren't for their age etched on their faces, outsiders would easily mistake them for a group of prostitutes.
After closing the door and turning on the air conditioner's ventilation mode, Ji Xiaoxiao washed her face and called the hotel's service hotline. Hotel staff brought over a delicious meal. Once she was full, Ji Xiaoxiao leisurely lay down on the bed to absorb the original owner's memories.
Su Tang is the only daughter of the Su family. Her father and mother are a formidable duo in the business world. Wherever they go, they amass wealth and become the richest people in X City in just twenty years.
Su's parents doted on their only daughter, Su Tang, as if she were their precious treasure. However, they loved her without spoiling her, raising her to be a woman of exceptional talent and beauty. But a mishap occurred: Su Tang was innocent, pure, and kind.
Su's parents were worried about Su Tang, as her personality made her easy to bully. They wondered who would take care of her after they passed away. Fortunately, Su Tang had a childhood sweetheart named Wu Ruo.
Wu Ruo was Su Tang's neighbor. Wu Ruo and Su Tang grew up together and Wu Ruo had liked Su Tang since childhood. When Su Tang was twenty, Wu Ruo invited her over to propose. After a private talk, Su Tang's parents tearfully married her off to Wu Ruo.
The couple lived happily after their marriage, and the following year, Su Tang gave birth to a son. As the saying goes, nothing lasts forever, and three months after Su Tang gave birth, her parents died in a car accident, leaving Su Tang and her grandson a large inheritance.
It took Su Tang three years to recover from the grief of her parents' birth.
Three years later, Wu Ruo's twin brother, Wu Ru, also got married. The two brothers lived in the same neighborhood. The man would occasionally go hiking, while the woman would take the children shopping for clothes. Their lives were simple and uneventful, filled with a sweet happiness.
Until that one thing happened.
Wu Ruyue was climbing a snow-capped mountain. Snow-capped mountains are dangerous, and Su Tang tried to dissuade Wu Ruyue, but Wu Ruyue didn't care. Wu Ruyue explained that they were with experienced experts, so it would be alright, they wouldn't die.
I told you not to make promises you can't keep, it's just asking for trouble!
After a trip to the snow-capped mountains, Wu Ru died.
Upon returning, Wu Ruo was dejected, locking himself in his room all day, or going to Wu Ru's house to cry and apologize to Wu Ru's wife, Zhou Ning, and children. Both were down on their luck, so naturally they huddled together for comfort.
Gradually, Wu Ruo became increasingly indifferent to Su Tang, refusing to even touch her. At first, Su Tang didn't think much of it; her brother had just died, and a man of loyalty and righteousness wouldn't have such thoughts. A year later, Su Tang finally noticed something was amiss. Wu Ruo was incredibly attentive and caring towards Zhou Ning, and seemed to prefer Wu Ru's child to her own.
It's understandable that Wu Ru would take care of Wu Ru's wife a little after Wu Ru died, but it's unacceptable that he had to do everything himself and give almost all of his own good things to Zhou Ning.
This was the first argument Su Tang and Wu Ruo had after their marriage. Su Tang told the truth, which enraged Wu Ruo, who then hit her. After that, things spiraled out of control; it was as if Wu Ruo had flipped a switch, beating and abusing Su Tang day and night.
The happy days were gone forever, and Su Tang lived a very difficult life. Wu Ruo was ruthless and determined to eliminate any threat. He plotted against Su Tang, who was caught in bed with another man and kicked out of the house.
Su Tang considered revenge, but Wu Ruo threatened her with her son, and Su Tang was restless; the child might not even survive to adulthood. For the sake of her child, Su Tang endured humiliation.
Kind people are often bullied, and good horses are often ridden. Wu Ruo became even more ruthless, squeezing out the enormous inheritance left by Su Tang's parents within ten years, leaving not a single penny.
In her later years, Su Tang was seriously ill and on her deathbed, yet she still could not see her son one last time.
For decades, Su Tang couldn't understand why her husband, who had once treated her like a precious jewel, would become so cold and heartless. Was his love and tenderness all a facade? It was clearly the same face, so why were his attitudes so different before and after?
Same face?
Su Tang seemed to have figured something out, but she had already breathed her last.
She was just a hair's breadth away from being able to sort out the cause and effect and get to the bottom of things.
Driven by a combination of curiosity and resentment, the original owner of this body vowed to uncover the truth, take care of her son, and send those bloodsucking parasites from the Wu family back to the mud.
After absorbing the memories, Ji Xiaoxiao's consciousness sank into darkness, and she went to sleep soundly.
Ji Xiaoxiao slept soundly until dawn, feeling refreshed and energized.
After checking out of the hotel, Ji Xiaoxiao went straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
At nine o'clock in the morning, the Civil Affairs Bureau had just opened. Ji Xiaoxiao wasn't in a hurry to wait for Wu Ruo's arrival, so she casually found a stall and had a delicious breakfast.
Screech! The car braked suddenly.
Ji Xiaoxiao looked in the direction of the sound and saw a broad-shouldered, narrow-waisted man getting out of the car. It was none other than Wu Ruo, whom the original owner both loved and hated. Ji Xiaoxiao checked her watch; it was 10:15. Wu Ruo had arrived quite early; it seemed he couldn't wait to get rid of her.
Ji Xiaoxiao paid the bill and gave the owner a little extra money. She had taken up the owner's seat for more than an hour, so this compensation was reasonable.
