Chapter 52 Apocalyptic Zombies: From Good to Evil

The zombies didn't eat people; they seemed to possess self-awareness. If they were sent to the Hope Base Research Institute, Lan Yihui would no longer have to worry about making a living for his family. After making up his mind, Lan Yihui discussed it with Yang Hui and then devised a plan against Lan Xiaoxiao.

Lan Yihui and Yang Hui changed their attitude from before and began to take great care of Lan Xiaoxiao. However, as Lan Xiaoxiao became entangled in this tender embrace, Lan Yihui and Yang Hui both suffered an accident and were kidnapped by the ruthless underworld boss of Hope Base.

Desperate to save her parents, Lan Xiaoxiao ventured out of the city to plead with the zombie Mo Chenggui for help. Mo Chenggui, aware of his own limitations, knew that a lone zombie appearing in a human base was suicidal. However, Lan Xiaoxiao's tearful pleas and snot-covered cries softened Mo Chenggui's heart.

With Lan Xiaoxiao's cover, the highly disguised Mo Chenggui smoothly entered the Hope Base. The streets were bustling with people, and the two cautiously arrived at the location designated by the underworld boss. Little did they expect that a lopsided battle awaited them, a battle where the superior numbers bullied the weak.

Mo Chenggui, concerned for Lan Xiaoxiao's safety, risked his life to protect her, sustaining severe injuries in the process. Lan Xiaoxiao, preoccupied with thoughts of her parents, remained oblivious to Mo Chenggui's sacrifices, her anxious and flustered face only breaking into a smile upon witnessing Lan Yihui and Yang Hui's safety.

Mo Chenggui's combat prowess was off the charts. In order to minimize losses and successfully capture Mo Chenggui, Lan Yihui and Yang Hui risked their lives, luring Lan Xiaoxiao into the lion's den without warning. Lan Yihui held a dagger to Lan Xiaoxiao's neck, and with Mo Chenggui's vital point exposed, he surrendered unconditionally.

Lan Xiaoxiao is innocent and not stupid. Seeing this scene, she suddenly realized what it meant to be heartbroken and unable to live. She thought that being deceived and betrayed by her relatives was already too painful, but when she was sold to a research institute to be used as human experimentation material, she truly understood what it meant to be unable to live and unable to die.
