The weather in the apocalypse is like a child's face, unpredictable and ever-changing.
The scorching sun, having accomplished its mission, lazily retreated into the darkness. The oppressive midday heat vanished without a trace, leaving no trace whatsoever. The breeze abruptly ceased, replaced by a cool breeze, carrying a chill—the cold wind had arrived.
The heat was instantly and forcefully driven away by the bitter cold. The temperature dropped irrationally, and the still trees seemed frozen in place. The icy landscape was the perfect depiction of a world covered in white snow. In the cold, Ji Xiaoxiao and the zombies moved stiffly, their hands and feet moving a fraction slower.
As the number of zombies increased, Ji Xiaoxiao's internal energy dwindled. With this imbalance, if Ji Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth and stubbornly persisted, refusing to admit defeat and flee in a sorry state, her fate would be to be cruelly devoured by the zombies.
Having never experienced a post-apocalyptic crisis, their minds are simple and straightforward. A naive human, witnessing Ji Xiaoxiao's murderous methods, would have been terrified and fled in panic. Zombies lack the complex emotions of humans; their instinctive desire to devour flesh makes them unwilling to forgo their prey, regardless of hardship, danger, coercion, or manipulation.
The more excited Ji Xiaoxiao became in her killing spree, the more ruthless she became, and the more brains and blood flowed freely, the greater the commotion she caused. The sound was not only loud but also carried far, slowly attracting the attention of zombies nearby.
Exhausted and focused solely on survival, Ji Xiaoxiao had no time or energy to observe her surroundings or devise a plan. Just as she was drenched in sweat and utterly worn out, the zombies nearby dealt her a devastating blow—they joined the encirclement of her.
The ground was a horrifying sight of rolling seas of corpses, and the sky was no less impressive, with swarms of bird-like zombies surging in like a dark, turbulent tide. Like the Yangtze River, each wave pushes the previous one forward, and the number of bird-like zombies was truly astounding.
Taking a brief moment of free time, Ji Xiaoxiao inadvertently looked up at the sky. High above and low below, large beads of sweat slid down her cheeks to her chin, swaying precariously for a while before finally succumbing to gravity and falling to the ground.
Ji Xiaoxiao was drenched in cold sweat. She swallowed hard, and her dry throat felt a little relieved. Her overused legs felt weak and trembling, as if she might fall over with a "plop" at any moment. Her face was deathly pale, and she was dumbfounded. This was a result of being shocked and out of her mind, and of exhausting herself without restraint.
"Damn, how come there are so many? It's not like I'm the only one who went out of the city today. Is my meat really that delicious that it has captured the hearts of all the zombies? God, I want handsome guys, shiny things, and gold. Who wants these ugly, missing-arms and legs zombies?!" Ji Xiaoxiao couldn't help but complain to express her malice towards this damn world.
The zombies in front and behind her suddenly pounced on Ji Xiaoxiao, interrupting her various curses against the heavens. Lacking internal strength, Ji Xiaoxiao, in order to ensure her survival, lightly tiptoed and, like a kite with a broken string, leaped five meters into the air.
To rob the east fence to patch the west wall—to focus on one thing while neglecting another.
In the blink of an eye, the bird-like zombies in the sky, seeing Ji Xiaoxiao walking right into their trap, increased their speed considerably. Already so close, their increased speed meant that in just a few moments, many bird-like zombies brushed past Ji Xiaoxiao.
A tidal wave of bird zombies trapped Ji Xiaoxiao, leaving her unable to go up or down. Their hard beaks and sharp claws became deadly weapons. Ji Xiaoxiao used all her remaining strength, with her almost nonexistent internal energy, to create an invisible protective shield.
You attack while I defend; Ji Xiaoxiao is outnumbered and outgunned, while the bird-like zombies are numerous and powerful. When the time is up, Ji Xiaoxiao will undoubtedly be defeated.
In this desperate situation, Ji Xiaoxiao had to suppress her fear of death and focus all her attention on how to turn the tide and survive. Her lack of internal energy was the most troublesome problem. Regardless of the exact number of bird-like zombies, being trapped in mid-air, she had no advantage whatsoever against their territory. After much deliberation, Ji Xiaoxiao realized that she was doomed.
Um, is there a way to undo your mistake? Even the stingy Ji is willing to pay a high price for it!
"I just came out for a walk to find my benefactor and repay their great kindness. Who did I bother?" Ji Xiaoxiao looked miserable, her brows furrowed so tightly they looked like twisted dough sticks.
The protective shield of internal energy swayed precariously in the wind and rain. The relentless attacks from the bird zombies were like a stone thrown into water, creating ripples, and it could shatter and disintegrate at any moment.
Time ticked by, and Ji Xiaoxiao's jaw loosened, causing her inner force protective shield to vanish instantly. With no obstacle in sight, the aroma of human flesh attracted a steady stream of bird-like zombies to Ji Xiaoxiao. Their sharp beaks pecked off small chunks of flesh, and warm blood dripped onto the ground, eliciting hoarse cries from the humanoid zombies.
Having come into this world, her life was threatened time and time again, and Ji Xiaoxiao's long-dormant competitive heart finally ignited into a raging fire.
A gentleman takes revenge even after ten years; Ji Xiaoxiao remembered that.
"Damn it, when I come back next time, I'll wipe you all out." Resolve requires perseverance to achieve.
Two minutes later.
Han Xin endured the humiliation of crawling between someone's legs, but he persevered and eventually achieved great success, becoming a marquis and prime minister. Ji Xiaoxiao was merely imitating him.
"Ouch, it hurts, it hurts! I was wrong, I was really wrong, I won't take revenge on you, okay? Stop pecking me, stop pecking me, I'm going to die!" The enemy was too ferocious, and he couldn't hold on any longer.
An hour later, Ji Xiaoxiao was still trapped in the horde of bird zombies. At this moment, whether it was a cat or a dog, as long as Ji Xiaoxiao was saved, she would take on the role of cat servant without hesitation.
