Chapter 57 Apocalyptic Zombies Turn to Good (Part 6)

Fortune's wheel turns, next year it'll be my turn. Luck comes and goes, today it graces our home.

In life, Mo Chenggui was a strong, masculine man who disliked engaging in verbal sparring with women. After death, he became a zombie, his body stiff and unable to speak. Even after a difficult genetic mutation and evolution, his body became more agile, but it was all for naught; he remained tongue-tied and inarticulate.

If you can't win with words, you can always resort to physical violence!

Mo Chenggui leaned down, his handsome lips slightly parted, revealing his pearly white teeth. His teeth gleamed in the sunlight, like a pure and harmless angel descended to earth. Even in such a beautiful scene, Ji Xiaoxiao's body trembled involuntarily.

His lips parted slightly upwards, revealing his teeth more clearly. His head lowered further, and without hesitation, he bit into Ji Xiaoxiao's blackened flesh. His movements were careful and deliberate, yet swift as lightning, tearing at the blackened chunks of flesh from Ji Xiaoxiao's body. He bit off a small piece, spat it out, repeating the cycle endlessly.

"What are you doing? It hurts!" Ji Xiaoxiao struggled fiercely in Mo Chenggui's arms, her eyes red and brimming with tears.

Ji Xiaoxiao was incredibly annoying. Left with no other choice, Mo Chenggui placed her on the ground and then pressed his entire body down on her. The male zombie's body was heavy and solid, like a mountain. Ji Xiaoxiao tried to push him away again and again, but Mo Chenggui remained unmoved, as steady as Mount Tai, displaying a serene and unperturbed demeanor, like someone undisturbed by praise or blame, watching the flowers bloom and fade in the courtyard, indifferent to coming or going, gazing at the clouds drifting across the sky.

Once the position was set, Ji Xiaoxiao lay on her back with her back to the ground, while Mo Chenggui lay on his back with his back to the sky, the two forming a single unit. The symbolism was excellent, but Ji Xiaoxiao glared at him with wide eyes, spewing vicious insults, "I thought we were friends, but it turns out I was just deluding myself. Mo Chenggui, if you're going to go crazy, go find someone else, can you please not drag me down with you?"

Mo Chenggui didn't care much about Ji Xiaoxiao's harsh words. He solemnly raised his hand and wiped the bloodstains from Ji Xiaoxiao's face. "Why do I still think you are the most beautiful woman even though you are covered in wounds and blood?"

Mo Chenggui tilted his head, his thoughtful eyes filled with suspicion, and his words became increasingly fluent, "I want to protect you, but I can't bear to see you suffer; I want to be with you forever, but I can't bring myself to be cruel to you. I can't bear to leave you, but you always push me away from you. Xiaoxiao, I don't want to lose you."

I'll never rest until I say something shocking!

After their heartfelt exchange, the wind died down, the trees fell silent, and all around was quiet, as if time itself had stood still. Looking into each other's eyes, Ji Xiaoxiao saw Mo Chenggui's inner turmoil and sorrow, while Mo Chenggui saw Ji Xiaoxiao's shock outweighing her joy and her utter bewilderment.

"See these wounds? You were pecked by zombie birds. For your safety, we need to remove this flesh quickly, otherwise you'll feel uncomfortable." Mo Chenggui broke the silence first, gently stroking the skin around the blackened pits with the tip of his right index finger.

Out of habit and in the heat of the moment, Ji Xiaoxiao forgot that what attacked her was a zombie bird. In the apocalypse, whether it's a humanoid zombie or an animal zombie, even if a human manages to survive a swarm of them, if their body suffers even the slightest scratch, turning into a zombie is the inevitable outcome.

"Mo Chenggui bit my flesh just now because he was thinking of me!" Thinking about this, Ji Xiaoxiao felt guilty.

"Cheng Gui, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you." Ji Xiaoxiao turned her head away, not daring to meet Mo Cheng Gui's clear eyes.

He spoke fluently, but his expression didn't reflect his true feelings. Mo Chenggui forced an unnatural smile, a smile devoid of any warmth, more like a grimace.

"No need to apologize, it was wrong of me to bite you. If I could think of a better way, you wouldn't feel any pain." With a snap of his fingers, Mo Chenggui looked so aggrieved that he wanted Ji Xiaoxiao to pat his head.

Every word Mo Chenggui said struck a chord with Ji Xiaoxiao, and the radiant young woman forgot all about biting. Next, Mo Chenggui spent nearly two hours removing all the dark flesh from Ji Xiaoxiao's body.

Without anesthesia or unconsciousness, after two hours of biting, Ji Xiaoxiao collapsed weakly in Mo Chenggui's arms and drifted into a hazy sleep.

Ji Xiaoxiao slept soundly until dawn. When she opened her eyes, a blinding ray of sunlight pierced through the window, filling her vision with white light. After a while, she squinted to see clearly.

"Why did you get down?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked. Just as she put her feet down, Mo Chenggui rushed over with a bowl of steaming white porridge and hurriedly stopped Ji Xiaoxiao's reckless action. "You're not well yet, so you should stay in bed and rest!"

With the millet porridge, Ji Xiaoxiao's entire attention was drawn to it, and she completely forgot about what had happened before. After eating her fill, she became sleepy and fell asleep again. She didn't know how much time had passed, but Ji Xiaoxiao maintained this pattern of eating, sleeping, and then eating again.

Lying in bed all day eating and sleeping, Ji Xiaoxiao was resting, but she was listless and depressed, unable to distinguish between dreams and reality. Like now, Ji Xiaoxiao felt as if someone was pressing her down on the bed, her body being manipulated at will. She wanted to scream, but her throat felt like it was being choked, unable to move at all.

"Cheng Gui, where are you?" Ji Xiaoxiao asked weakly, holding her head.

Upon hearing this, Mo Chenggui appeared with a bowl of millet porridge. "Xiaoxiao, are you hungry? Here, have some porridge."

Ji Xiaoxiao frowned, opened her mouth in confusion, and obediently swallowed the millet porridge that Mo Chenggui handed her. After finishing the bowl, Ji Xiaoxiao was helped back to bed by Mo Chenggui.

Gently patting Ji Xiaoxiao and softly humming a lullaby, Mo Chenggui looked into Ji Xiaoxiao's eyes, which were filled with such sadness. "Xiaoxiao, I will protect you."

After Ji Xiaoxiao fell asleep, Mo Chenggui, holding a small dagger, stealthily pulled out her arm, which was wrapped in the blanket. The gleaming tip of the dagger slowly pierced into her flesh, as if measuring it with a ruler, and cut out a small, neat chunk of meat.
