The worm is about the length of a middle finger and as thin as a hair. It can enter the human body without restraint through the pores of the skin, devouring the bones, blood, muscles and tendons until only a thin skeleton covered by blackened and swollen skin remains.
Musen recalled the horrific scene of his brother's death, and his heart ached. A heavy weight pressed down on him, making him unable to straighten his back and causing his hands and feet to tremble.
When a worm invades a person's body, the worm obtains sufficient nutrients and begins to reproduce asexually, its numbers increasing daily. Meanwhile, the person, like a balloon being inflated, begins to swell, becoming bloated and constantly filling itself with water. One day, the balloon bursts, the body explodes, and the worm scatters in all directions.
White things are everywhere, and people who can be used as hosts by worms have no flesh or blood.
"Let's go," Mu Sen said in a low voice.
They were poorly equipped and not suited to confront those beasts face to face.
At Mu Sen's command, everyone took off running.
The endless green forest had no road signs, so people walked and stopped frequently.
"General, there is a cave here."
Mu Sen led his men over; the cave wasn't very deep, and it was quite spacious and well-ventilated.
"Rest where you are, and you should remain on guard."
Musen arranged for his men to do their own thing and then buried himself in writing down the events of the Abyss Valley.
I was shocked when I saw it. The Abyss Valley can no longer be ignored. If those dangerous creatures are given enough time to breed and thrive, they will eventually set foot in human territory when the Abyss Valley can no longer support their survival needs.
"Friday, January 6, 2017, according to the Sacramento calendar, is sunny."
The beginning of the diary was ordinary and unremarkable.
"My team and I continued deeper into the Abyss Valley. Black squid... giant eight-horned wolf spiders... The long worms caught up with us again. During our escape, I discovered something: the long worms had no interest in the creatures of the Abyss Valley, but instead had a deep interest in us, in us humans, that was ingrained in their genes. It seemed that they fed on us humans..."
"General, come and take a look."
Someone interrupted Musen from writing in his diary.
Musen closed his notebook and went over to take a look.
“General, I’ve discovered signs that this cave was once inhabited.” The man pointed to a corner of the cave. “General, look, there’s a pile of matches and a lighter that’s thousands of years old.”
Musen picked up the lighter from the pile of matches and rubbed the flint and steel together.
Whoosh, the firelight was scorching hot.
"It still works." Mu Sen was filled with doubts. "There are actually people in the Abyss Valley, and they are permanent residents."
Musen stuffed the lighter into his pocket and ordered the soldiers to check the surrounding area.
Thirty minutes later, the soldiers returned one after another, but one of them has not yet returned.
"Who hasn't come back? Which direction did he go?"
The Abyss Valley is fraught with danger, and Mu Sen wouldn't be foolish enough to assume that someone is lost.
"It's White, he's heading east."
East? East, the direction where the sun rises as usual.
The worms are as thin as threads, and 95% of their bodies are liquid. They cannot withstand heat or high temperatures. The temperature is highest in the east, so Mu Sen ruled out that White was drowned by the worms.
Unless it's a snake, with White's abilities, he shouldn't be unable to survive a single night in the face of danger.
"Pack your things and head east."
The soldiers moved swiftly and efficiently, and in no time at all, their belongings were neatly arranged.
The group hurried eastward, encountering only strange creatures along the way, but never seeing White.
As the sun sets and dusk deepens, it's time for the creatures of the Abyss Valley to gather in a grand celebration.
A cold wind was blowing, and the low cries and roars of birds and beasts rose and fell.
"General, it's dark now too."
Night fell, and the Abyss Valley was fraught with danger.
Musen's eyes darted around, considering all aspects and weighing the pros and cons. He then ordered his men to find a place to rest and to look for White again at dawn the next day.
Abyss Valley is a valley with a bumpy bottom and many caves. Mu Sen and his companions found a place to stay without much effort.
"General, look, it's a pile of matches and a lighter again."
Musen followed the speaker's finger and saw a pile of matches and a lighter.
"There are definitely people around here, everyone be careful."
Whether they are on the right or the enemy, the situation is unclear.
The night was deep, and everyone was drowsy.
"Knock knock knock..."
The rhythmic beat of drums drifted over.
Mu Sen raised his eyelids, and in the darkness, his sharp eyes were like a lion in the night, calm yet terrifying, ferocious yet horrifying.
...
Moving at full speed, a month later, Long Aotian returned to the Imperial Star.
"Issue my order to summon all soldiers on the border."
"Your Majesty, are you really going to agree to the Dark Emperor's request?"
Long Aotian smirked and said disdainfully, "It's just a cooperation, each of us getting what we need."
The Three Flowers Legion is the backbone of the Star River Empire, a scattered force with countless soldiers. Once he regroups his forces and receives the Dark Emperor's full support, Sacriton, beset by internal and external troubles, will be at his mercy, and he can do whatever he wants.
"By the way, prepare five starships and send them to Dark Star immediately."
Four ships becoming five – the Dark Emperor should be able to see the sincerity of their cooperation.
